We had a wonderful time! Everything was delicious and the service was great.
We like French 75 so much because of the ambiance and the staff. Such style and such nice efficient people. Of course, the cocktails and the food are excellent. We especially like the burger (the best in town really) and the sole. The fillet is also great with potatoes lyonnaise on the side.
A downtown Denver jewel.
Service was good, although at times inattentive. Food was mediocre at best. Boullibaise broth was basically salted warm water. Best thing was the wings appetizers. OK wines, indescript beer list
Delicious duck, delicious variations on the French 75, excellent twist on a traditional escargot. Recommended. Our experience was during Beer Fest, so there was a quiet evening.
Once before we had an excellent dinner here. But, we were both disappointed when we dined Tuesday night. Our starters were great.....beet salad for me, onion soup for my husband. Also, I loved the duck breast. My husband’s lamb, however, was not very good......it really lacked flavor. Our 2 desserts were fine, but the evening was marred by a table of 8 women who were exceedingly loud in a small space. All in all, we did not find this dinner to be a great value......just under $300........ or the quiet, romantic evening we had anticipated.
I had their salmon which was wonderful! My husband had a French dip that he was very happy with. It was a pleasant evening with great service. We will be back.
We dined there for the first time with our friends and had an excellent time. The service was impeccable, the wine perfect and most important, the salads were perfect. If a restaurant can't get the salads right, there's not much hope for the entre. My beet salad was tasty and my husband's Caesar perfection.
The “cooks” - not “chefs” at French 75 are clueless as to how REAL French food should be prepared! I’ll say that my wife’s Duck a’la Orange was THE best of our (3) entrees!
My Bouillabaisse was nothing more than a bit of bland “Campbell’s Tomato Soup” in the bottom of a bowl with a modicum of overcooked mussels surrounding the edge of the bowl, with a few shrimp & salmon pieces in the “bit ‘o broth”!!! I’ve had Bouillabaisse several times in France & it should be a mixture of plentiful seafood in a luscious, flavorful broth! (Google Images of Bouillabaisse.)
In addition, our adult daughter ordered the leg of lamb with Potato Lyonnaise gratin, & goat cheese creamed spinach. It came with (3) very thin slices of lamb & an equal number of thin potato slices! It looked liked an institutional (assisted living facility) meal!
I was extremely, extremely disappointed. No wonder we were able to make reservations so easily when other restaurants in downtown Denver were solidly booked on a Friday night!
Service was slow. I kept having to to lock down our waiter by staring at him. Food was good. Grilled cheese was amazing. Will be back.
The food is always excellent, the staff are friendly and their Tuesday table for two dral is a great value.
Good but short of great.
We found French 75 through the internet. I was getting a little desperate to find a restaurant after see a show at the Buell theater. We got lucky with French 75! The service was excellent. The duck and salmon were very, very good. The presentation was nicely done. We did enjoy the cocktails also. The variation on the French 75 called the Bloom was delicious. We will return. Thank you very much for a delicious meal.
Undercooked lamb and a table full of Texans shouting at one another - will be a while before we try this place again. Perhaps if they had comped my dessert after the disappointing entree I might feel different. Not worth the $$&
The food was excellent. Love the tarragon cream sauce the salmon was served with. Excellent combination.
The food was fantastic. The service was superb. A good wine selection.
Excellent food! We ordered several small plates to try multiple things. Everything we had was great. Very friendly staff as well.
The sole is the best, frites always good, and the cocktails are fun. Our favorite pre DCPA dinner choice!
Marginal yes for recommending, a "it depends" option would have helped. This was the 2nd visit with the first being far worse but being a fan of owner Frank Bonanno felt we should try again. On that visit, an entree dish had to be sent back and it took 20+ minutes to come back meaning then my own food was cold. This time it was just absent service (heard the server tell another guest they were shorthanded) and food that was good-to-ok but nothing special. Little seasoning on anything, the kind of bland food I grew up with in Boston and England but that was decades ago. Portions were mostly fair but, naturally, the check was wrong, once we got it. On a great positive, albeit seasonal, note the peach dessert was wonderful and a great finish to an otherwise ok meal. There are just too many places in town to come back for a third visit.
The restaurant is a winner. The Escargot with garlic, butter and cheese was a twist that initially was surprising. (I've never had cheese with Escargot), but it was tasty. The Steak Tartare was fresh, but unfortunately the seasoning was missing. There was no "wow" factor. It was just rare Fresh hamburger. The Duck entree was the star! The 2 preparations were perfect and the tart was fantastic. The Bouillabaisse was nice with fresh ingredients. The sauce was mildly flavorful (I like more) and I missed having the Saffron Crouton. We had come in for 3 Virgo birthdays and look forward to see the restaurant do well. We were given the tasty French 75 drink prior to the meal as a birthday wish. So nice! I would appreciate a notice that the "tartare" has become as good as the other offerings.
We chose French 75 for the Tuesday evening special. Everything was exceptional - food, wine, service! We will be back!
We went to the restaurant for lunch on a weekday. It wasn't at capacity, which explains why it was quieter than you might expect. The food is modern French with the emphasis on offering a lighter version of French classics like Lobster Bisque and Creme Brûlée. We found the seasoning a little variable, but enjoyed all the dishes we sampled. The menu is is very nicely spread over a good range of dishes, particularly the appetizers. I would expect there is something for everyone who likes bistro French food. The house red wine is unusually good and a quite a bargain. It is a Bordeaux, from the Graves wine district. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and other wait staff happily pitched in when needed.
Lots of kid friendly drinks. Amazing service. Great food. The music is kid friendly and so is the environment.
The food was great. Duck and roast chicken followed great kale and beet salads. The place is not huge but was what I was looking for to have a nice quiet catch up dinner with someone I had not seen in a while. Server Laszlo was fine and attentive during the dinner but a real pain at the end. He dropped the check as soon as we said we were not interested in dessert, and then hovered over the table at what seemed like 2 minute intervals until I got so frustrated that I just put my credit card on the table for him. DUDE... relax. We might not have wanted dessert but perhaps we may have enjoyed a glass of wine or an after dinner drink or a cup of coffee.... The waiter didn’t ruin the evening but he was a real downer at the end of the evening. The food/dinner itself was great, however, and that was not tainted by the server’s impatience. I would return.
This was our first time at this restaurant and the food was exceptional as well as the service. I can’t wait to return. My mouth waters just thinking about our delicious dinner.
It was wonderful, my husband and I went on our last day of our honeymoon. We got all dressed up per the dress code and enjoyed a night out. He got the filet mignon and I got the lobster tail sandwich. It was filling and wonderful. The staff helped us pick out wines we both liked (had to get 2 separate bottles) but it was all around wonderful. Whenever second back to Denver CO we will be coming back to eat!!
Only bad thing is not all people followed dress code and it is not enforced.
Quite possibly my fav restaurant ever!!!!
Love the staff, the decor, the vibe, the music .. just everything!!!
We celebrated our anniversary there & they made it a GREAT night...
Must haves are Steak Tartare, Salmon, & the chocolate torte....
Don’t miss this place! Wish I had one where I live💔💔
One of the BEST meals ever!!!! The staff was sooo awesome!!!!
It was our 42nd anniversary & they made the evening so fun & treated us to a dessert to share!
I’m sad we live so far away & don’t know when Denver will ever be on our travel schedule again.
Wish they would open one in the Coachella Valley CA...
You MUST go eat here!!!!
Very good food and service. Would definitely return even though it was a bit loud for such a nice restaurant.
It was our 4-year anniversary. The staff was on point with congratulating us, multiple times, even with their own French 75 shot, on the house! The night was special, and they made sure they played a part. Thank you, French 75!
We celebrated our wedding anniversary on Tuesday evening and were given some delicious champagne to start off the evening. We took advantage of the Tuesday evening prix fixe menu and found both the food and wine exceptional, as well as a fantastic value. The service was good but the restaurant was also not too busy when we were there. We will definitely be back!
75th Birthday for French hub, where else would one go...French 75! We originally planned on dinner menu, then had so much fun trying several Happy Hour treats we no longer had room for more. Moules were fresh, perfectly cooked and wine sauce was delicious with bread to soak it up. Lamb Tarte Flambe was a winner along with Fritto mix crisply fried calamari, Brussel sprouts & shrimp. A couple of Niçoise salads, plenty large for 3 of us.
The staff were engaging & our server exchanged pleasantries in French with my hub. Drinks were unique and refreshing. Dessert served with candle to celebrate.
My spouse & daughter were delighted with the evening at French 75.
Delicious well-prepared food, and the best service I've had in years. Place is a bit loud
A major disappointment. Slow and disorganized service.
Wow this was horrible. The Frito Miste was over cooked (say Burnt) and no one offered to redo it when we told them. My duck was served on a cold plate and within minutes my entire dish was cold as well. My wife's sole was dry but with lots of lemon she was able to eat it. Don't know who the bozo was in the kitchen but he needs to be fired. This experience has soured us on going back to Frank's the restaurants which we enjoyed in the past--I think things are headed down--sorry to say.
Love the new menu, so glad the sole is back.... GREAT Menu
wow, terribly disappointing! the restaurant wasn't full, but they couldn't do anything right. Service was lackluster (had to repeatedly ask to get drinks, water, etc.). Took 90 minutes to get main course. When food arrived, it was not worth eating. Steaks were salted so much they were inedible. When they were made again, they were not seasoned at all. Lamb dish was cold and looked like my 4 year old plated it. Perhaps Bonnano should stick to Italian and the Milk Market!
The Sole Meunière is fantastic. The burger is the best in Denver. The fillet is perfect. A cocktail at the bar to start, then move to a cozy booth. Friendly service. Knowledge wait staff and bartenders. A great downtown eatery.
Fantastic food, really great service! Very welcoming for out of town visitors!
Our server, Caitlin really made our experience. She was phenomenal! We do wish the escargot was a bit more traditional in regards to being cooked in a butter garlic mixture topped with shredded Parmesan. However, there was ample slices of baguette, which was a nice change since at most places you are never served enough. The potatoes lyonnaise was a tad under seasoned, but still delicious. Other than that, everything else was great! The manager even took the time to show us the wine loft since we inquired about a private event. Caitlin again went above and beyond and gave us all the contact information we needed and arranged for the manager to show us the space. We look forward to many more fantastic meals at French 75.
