The place is beautiful - unfortunately there was another table with two small children who were let to run around all over the dining area and into the kitchen by their parents. Several of us had the pheasant which was boned breast, thigh and wing - difficult to eat Our waiter may have been new (nice and grateful that he was working) but he double charged our tips telling us the tip (parties over 6 included) was not included They did reimburse us back our second tip when we called back that night. I sincerely hope they get better trained staff for the sake of a nice place to eat need more attentive back waiters if that’s how they are trained

We enjoyed the restaurant and the bar. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. The only drawback was that the Mac n Cheese though utterly amazing was cold in spots. Also, the bread was not warmed. Really good date night and meal, overall. We would recommend.

Recently opened — for several weeks I hear - the restaurant is still working out kinks, including how to cook a beef tenderloin to medium rare … original dish sent back and replaced willingly by server. The replacement entree still overcooked, but edible. Server comped us on the entree. Good try and will likely get better with experience.

Menu offerings were wide and varied, but they were out of multiple appetizers, soup and entrees. Food was delicious. Hostess was very welcoming, but waiter was very shallow.

Great place to eat and relax. Service and food was excellent. Top quality food and drinks. Relaxing atmosphere, a little loud when they got busy but not enough to take away from the experience. Staff was attentive and responsive without being overbearing.

We think Freestone is the finest eating establishment in the Kalispell/Bigfork area. No TVs with sports, no rap music, no loud bar, just a nice dining room with great amenities and service. We enjoyed the food, the quiet, and service. Found Freestone to be on the high side of dining in NW Montana.

Shrimp cocktail was overcooked to the point that it tasted like paste. After the first bite, we did not eat it. Waiter said he would take it off the bill, but did not. Tenderloin and cap steak were ordered medium rare, and were served medium to medium well done. Flavor and texture of meat was not worth the price paid. Bone marrow appetizer was very good, as well as the salad was adequate. The main entree(s) were not worth the price. A high end restaurant should have quality food. Our meal missed the mark. The restaurant itself is a lovely setting. We were celebrating our 36th Wedding Anniversary, but unfortunately left with disappointment from our meal.

We got the Montana bison loin strip and the Tenderloin, both requested at medium rare. They both came out medium (at best), and were so heavily burnt/charred on the outside that it completely dried out the inside meat and made them nearly inedible. We noticed the table next to ours ordered the Tomahawk for Two, and they barely at any and didn't take any home either. Maybe it's growing pains, and we're willing to give them another shot. But, if you are expecting a perfectly cooked $40--$50 steak then I recommend going somewhere else.

1. The mac and cheese side was cold...the steak was cold and had to be reheated 2. I had the trout and asked for drawn butter (the waitress did not know what that was) I said melted butter-it came back NOT Melted 3. The salad was a bunch of greens with one half cherry tomato and 1 slice of cucumber-THAT IS NOT A SALAD 4. The appetizer dishes were not cleared promptly 5 When the 6 of us were halfway through our meal the waitress then asked if we wanted bread-DUH a little too late girlie 6. I ordered a second glass of wine which took forever to be served.. almost finished with the dinner before the wine was served! 7. The dinner dishes remained for way too long after we all were done dining. 8. Also-Too noisy to hear your own party speaking

Can’t say enough how wonderful this experience was! Our food and drinks were delicious! Bone marrow was luscious! Ploughman Board was a bounteous charcuterie. The Ceviche was tasty. Oysters were fresh, and passed muster with our friends who live next to oyster farms on the coast. Our waitress Rosie was spectacular, attentive, engaging! Rack of Lamb was sublime and tender. The gnocchi was delicious. Trout a generous portion and artfully prepared. Beef Tenderloin ordered with pink peppercorn sauce— lovely. The bison short ribs were soooo amazingly tasty and tender! The Jameson Toffee skillet cake with ice cream: impressed! And to finish all, the huckleberry crème brûlée had just the best balance of flavors. Will return! (And we’ll be coming from Wisconsin!)

1. Service was fantastic, they have been trained well! 2 it’s an ok inside. Log home look inside, very open and spacious but not very cozy. 3. The food was just ok. I had the short ribs, small portion and a bit fatty. Very artistic presentation but not worth the cost. Wife had filet but felt the quality fell short for price, nice portion though. 4. Need better appetizer menu. Not enough diverse options. In this economy I realize it’s tough but not sure I would drive 15 miles again to go here.

The cocktails were delicious. They charge $3 less for the mocktails (totalling $15 per mocktail), which were decent. The starter was the Hog Wings, which were tough to chew. I ate part of two and had to cut them with a knife to find the meat beyond the gristle. The glaze was nice, but there's wasn't enough. A dipping sauce may have helped. The Almond crusted Trout was a day too told and had a "fishy" taste. The green beans were over-cooked and undersalted and the carrots were well-cooked and undersalted. The smear of potatoes were grainy and fairly tasteless while being washed out by the moist fishskin and over-oiled fish meat ($31, plus $8 for a split plate). The waitress and host were great and the atmosphere is beautiful. However the seating arrangements were strange; We were sat in a completely empty dining room with many open tables. The next couple to arrive were sat at the very closest table, not 3 feet away from us. The atmosphere feels a bit like a nice wedding venue. For the price point this was extremely disappointing.

We found this restaurant to exceed expectations and found it to be of a higher quality than the hotel to which it is attached! The food was excellent - the Bison ribs and tenderloin were very good, the mac and cheese superb. The service was also warm, welcoming, and attentive. What a great find and we wish them well as they continue to offer a most enjoyable dining experience.

We had the duck wings with garlic sauce and they were absolutely amazing!!!! I highly recommend them. Unfortunately, our steak was very much just so-so. It was cooked correctly, but just wasn't as good as you would expect, given the price. If this restaurant wants to compete with The Mercantile , they will definitely have to up their game with their steak quality, especially since their menu is very much steak prevalent. The bread was also a disappointment...not warm and very blah, almost like they just bought it at the store. They need to have a homemade specialty bread. The veges that came with the steak were okay...nothing special, and the mashed potatoes were also just okay and there was too small of a serving of them.The dessert was very good! The service was outstanding! They are new and they just need to offer a much higher quality steak and work on their sides and bread.

When looking to reconnect with our friends visiting from Las Vegas, we went in search of a restaurant that would have everything. We found it! Freestone not only had fantastic food and wine selection, but they also had a fun casino attached with a bar that we were able to go to and have fun afterward. We will 100% be back for more!
