Fred's Hickory Inn
6 oz grilled strip streak, mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, onion, and avocado
Service was good but food was mediocre . They ran out of a lot of items
We were seated at an outside table, and it was cool outside. The hostess said they had heaters, but out of six heaters only one worked. We were seated in a section farther away that didn’t have any heaters, so we had to get blankets from our car.
The food was not as good as expected. The fettuccine noodles were hard, and the food was cold when delivered to our table.
For the price, we were expecting a nicer experience.
Great Dinner and Nate our server was excellent!
Food was wonderful! Their andouille is delicious. We were seated in the bar and the lighting could have been better
This place has been around for a long time, but overall I left disappointed. This place is fairly expensive but literally they charge you for everything. I bought a $26 entree that came with one side. It was asparagus and they brought me 5 stalks of it. Added a small side salad and it was an extra $4. Want bread with your meal? That’s extra too. The food was good, but I can get better and more value at another steakhouse. I highly doubt we will be back.
Food was ok, but not on a favorite list. Lasagna had to be sent back to be microwaved because it was still cold!
Excellent food, and wine list. Service was outstanding. Noise level was extremely high.
We were sat for our reservation and over ten minuets went by before anyone came to see us or give us even water. Then we ordered drinks from the bar and they took 20 minutes to get to us. When we ordered our food we waited an additional 30+ minutes for the food to come out. We didn’t start eating until an hour. The wait was ridiculous. The service was sub par. We barely saw our server. Probably won’t go back again.
Had a reservation and we were seated within about 5 minutes. Waitress was lovely and doing her best to keep up - but there appeared to be chaos from the moment we sat down. We ordered drinks and they took forever and came piecemeal. They were great, though, when they came. Eight of us ordered dinner (no appetizers) and salads. Some of us got those salads; one didn’t get his until after they put down his “sides”, then his main course…all at the same time. Two of us ordered grilled shrimp. When it finally came (at least five minutes after the first three people were served) it was ICE cold - like really, really cold. It had apparently been precooked (grilled) but not rewarmed. Then the last member of our party got his side, but waited 20 minutes more for his smoked chicken (when one of the others had already been served smoked chicken). He ate his side, then later finished his dinner alone as everyone else was already done - and the servers were bussing dishes from our table! Our total bill was around $600 which is acceptable for a fine dinner - which this did not live up to. We were excited to revisit after many years and while we loved being there for nostalgia’s sake, our meal was more than disappointing. Not sure how you fix all the things that were wrong. It’s a long drive from Fayetteville and it needs to be worth it! Sad…
It is so comfortable and relaxing and the food is phenomenal
Very relaxing, professional service and always quality food and beverages. I have been coming hers since the early 80"s and never disappointed.
Took my grandparents here for dinner and it was a great quiet place to catch up!
The setting of Fred’s is quite unique, and it really has cool throwback feel to it. The food is good, but we weren’t blown away by it. I give it a solid 4 out of 5.
Disappointing experience after reading many good reviews. Shrimp was over cooked/charred with no flavor at all, while my wife’s salmon was prepared the same. Baked potato was cold in the middle. Service was good and the restaurant was quite and clean. Would not return for another meal.
We have visited this restaurant foe over 20 years. This year we were extremely disappointed in the food, service and the noise level was terrible. We could not have a conversation without yelling and my husband was literally a foot away. We will not go back sadly. It’s not the place it used to be.
Amazing service and food. Loved the patio and live music.
There are stairs to the patio but they aren't too tall. Everything was better than expected
Everything was great: food, service, ambiance. Would have liked if they acknowledged our special occasion listed; outside of that highly recommend and will be revisiting again.
We enjoyed our meal. The wait staff were attentive, but forgot a couple of things and had to make a second trip. The room we ate in was well apportioned, but it was very cold. Also, there seemed to be a conservative rally of some sort in the next room, which was not conducive to the environment we were looking for on our 30th anniversary.
We made a reservation and glad we did as there was a line.
It was ok.
House salad has been in the fridge, small single ranch container been sitting in salad for a while.
KC strip was cooked to perfection.
Waitresses were spot on and quick.
Expected more for the price - menu has food stains - we were rushed to order food - we were rushed to clean table - could have gone to fast food place if I wanted to rush - was bad experience and was very disappointed
We were quickly seated even though the weather forced our reservations indoors. Wait staff was prompt and knowledgeable even though our waiter was new to the restaurant. Good selection of local beers on tap. I ventured out and ordered the spaghetti while my wife got the smoked sirloin. Both dishes were well plated, and did not disappoint. It was a pleasant experience after not dining at Fred’s for nearly 4 years. Hopefully we’ll make it back again soon. The only knock on our experience was the restrooms were messy and in need of a little service. Overall, a very good experience.
Delicious food. Smoked sirloin was perfectly smoked and delicious.
I was hoping to have a nice anniversary dinner with my husband, but my special request submitted via Opentable was ignored. Fair but slow service over all.
Food was exceptional. Highly recommend the streaks or ribs! Sat on the patio and everything was great.
We enjoyed our dinner on the patio listening to live music. We started out with delicious appetizers (meatballs, spinach & artichoke dip, and stuffed mushrooms), as well as fabulous blood orange cosmos. The homemade pasta dishes were on point! We were greeted and seated promptly and our server was very attentive. This was our second time to eat here, and it won't be our last!
The server was the best part of the meal. Ribeye had more fat than meat. The smoked sirloin hard very little smoky flavor and a lot of fat. Desert was good. This place is way over priced for what you get.
...........................................Great Food & Service
Our server was rude, argumentative and not knowledgeable about her product. The food was average, but relative to the price it was disappointing. We are new to the area and love to dine out. We will not visit Fred's again.
First time in. Very enjoyable experience. We will be back.
Food was great. Had the ribeye. So good. Drinks were always filled. Miss Elaine was a delight!!
Our food was very good but we found the service lacking. One of our party didn’t get her salad even after reminding the waitress three times. We had to get someone else to get drink refills. A 20% tip was added to our bill automaticallly; a voluntary tip would certainly have been smaller.
They’re always happy to sit us outside as that is what we prefer.
Disappointed with the dinner. Reservations were not honored, seating was delayed, food came out cold, waitress was rushed and distracted. Have spent many great meals at Fred's over the years but will not be returning. A special graduation dinner after two long stressful school years was not at all what I wanted for my daughter.
First visit to Fred’s......I was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere, ambiance, and mood was perfect for a romantic dinner. Food and service was excellent! Had the smoked sirloin and it was delicious. Will definitely be back!
Always a great place to share a meal with friends and family.
This property was home to our summer church camp and the founding of our church.
We booked our Mother’s Day lunch through Open Table. We had no idea we were going to a buffet. We received Fred’s Hickory Inn menu from open table, but that’s not what we found when we got there. Very disappointed, not sure who is at fault. Apparently bad communication on both parts.
Fred’s Barbecue remains our favorite family owned barbecue restaurant in Arkansas. The quality of food served is always impeccable. Though the restaurant is closed on Sundays, it opened in honor of Mother’s Day. I have to say that staff must have reserved its high quality servings for regular business hours because the Mother’s Day buffet was horrible and overpriced. No ribs, no chicken, and no brisket available. Only cold ham and super thin cold slices of roast beef was served. Yuck. Even the veggies were limited and undercooked. If it’s such a bother to open on a Sunday, they didn’t bother to hide it. No honor for Mother’s Day at this restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a wonderful time honored legend, but I was deeply disappointed in its Mother’s Day buffet.
Do not expect to eat low end breakfast items at noon. Only high quality item was the smoked sirloin which was too rare for my liking. All the items were very average in quality and taste. No way did the meal warrant $29. Sorry, not able to give a better survey.
Graduation. They were late to get drink order and bread. It took FOREVER for the food to come out. We were there hours. Which was ok because we were with family, but reservations were at 8. So we were starving! Food was good but service was not.
Service was not very attentive. Upcharging for what is essentially mac & cheese that is out of a box seems ridiculous. I thought the mac & cheese was going to be some homemade version that was worthy of an upcharge. My "mixed grilled vegetables" turned out to be some version of asparagus that was grilled but very crunchy. They didn't take the time to break away the offshoots on the stalk. Truly looked like some type of weed.
