Mediterranean
Frascati is a Mediterranean style bistro, located in one of San Francisco’s most desirable neighborhoods – Russian Hill. When a guest walks through the door of Frascati, he or she is initially treated to a friendly and comfortable dining room. Frascati encompasses a truly European aura, but is also a cozy, San Francisco neighborhood bistro. This tri-level restaurant features warm colors, high ceilings, antique light fixtures and street views of cable cars clanging up and down Hyde Street. The natural light and energetic atmosphere all convey a lively spirit.

Our cuisine is inspired from the Mediterranean coast and has strong Californian influences. The menu shifts frequently to utilize the best and freshest ingredients any season has to offer. Also, we pride ourselves on all of our house made desserts and ice creams.

Of equal importance, Frascati has become known for having an eclectic wine list which nicely complements the food.

Wasn’t great. Food was ok but fish and chicken were dry. Service was polite but not warm. Won’t go back.

It's important for me to say that everything was good about the meal and our time at the restaurant. The service was great, the staff was friendly, and the wine list extensive. They were also very accommodating with seating. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. However, despite the food coming out hot and being a relatively good value for the money, my friend ended up being violently ill after the meal so I can't say that the food was good (she got the Fettuccini with beef bolognese) . Hopefully this is rectified.

I can't believe I waited so many years to make a reservation here! I grew up in the neighborhood, going to Spring Valley Elementary School, playing at Helen Wills Playground, and going for ice cream at Swenson's. I lived on Jackson and Polk, and my grandmother lived at both Union and Polk, and then at Polk and Green. The family is originally from different parts of Italy, but we were in North Beath for three generations as well. Anyway, we asked to be seated upstairs and found this little nook by a window that looks out onto Green Street. It felt like I moved back to the old neighborhood. I said, "if the food is good I want to come back and sit right here!" After two bites, the consensus was, "we're coming back!"

Service was bad but it was Morhers Day. Pork chop over cooked after being specific about my preference. Hurrays appetizer delish! Bread delish! All in all an okay experience. Love the ambiance!!!

Good neighborhood spot, with charming ambiance (dark wood, nicely spaced tables, white tablecloths) and good enough, but not great food. I ordered the bread salad, which as it turns out was merely a Greek salad with some pieces of bread in it. It was huge and was more of a salad for a meal than a n app or a side salad. My husband ordered the octopus salad, which was again, a large salad with some pieces of octopus in it. We would order that again and split it. We each ordered the seafood linguine, which was fine, but not memorable. The seafood consisted of mussels and some squid. Ordinarily, this should have several types of seafood in it; and the sauce was bland. We had the cheese plate for dessert and that was fantastic— beautifully presented, high quality and nice choices. We would go again if we wanted to stay in the neighborhood, but otherwise not.

Hostes recognized my special request on table location.
Waiter knew my special diet as well as my companions birthday. We got couple recommendations from the menu and had great time spending more than 3 hours in very kind atmosphere. Thank you, Frascati team for this great evening.

The baby lettuce salad pretty tasteless. The lobster risotto was pretty good and halibut was outstanding. A quaint neighborhood restaurant. I will probably go again if I’m in the neighborhood.

First time in San Fran celebrating our anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better restaurant to celebrate the special night. This place is the true meaning of San Francisco and all it has to offer.

The food was outstanding and the service was prompt and friendly. We had two people join last minute, and the restaurant accommodated us without hesitation (I know those changes can be frustrating at times). You can tell that people come back over and over -- we'll be back for sure. Highly recommended!

We’ve been traveling to San Francisco for at least 20 years for both business and pleasure. And for nearly the same amount of time, we’ve rarely missed the chance to eat at Frascati. It’s our favorite place to eat when in town. John, his wife and the staff there are amazing hosts, and the food is always spot on. We think of it as eating at a family member or close friend’s home. If that close friend was an amazing chef that treated us like royalty.

I have been going to Frascati off and on for 23 years. I told my date that the place changed hands at least 3 times but each time it got better. The food is still great. I like that the menu changes often. I had not see the veal chop or the Burata on the menu before and thew were both great. Noise level is good for someone like me and the service was very good.

Overall restaurant was a little loud but we had a good quieter table in the back upstairs room. I would go back for the food. I really liked the gnocchi and linguine. Home made mint chocolate chip icecream was the best part.

I reserved a table for my wife and I ahead of time for our anniversary. We arrived a little early and they accommodated us right away. They even gave us a romantic table with a happy anniversary note on our table. Staff was super nice and very well read with all items on menu. Love this place and would recommend to anyone looking for an intimate setting with great food!

Unfortunately, the pasta was overcooked and the handmade linguine we ordered was way too spicy. The heat in that dish took a lot away from the depth of the seafood. They should also take the "s" off scallops because it literally came with one, single scallop on top of the dish. Also, be careful about corkage fee. I called in before arriving to make sure it was okay to bring a bottle, which they informed me of a $25 fee. Upon receiving the final bill, it came out to $40! Overall, so-so food in a narrow, cramped restaurant. I probably wouldn't go back or recommend.
