Frascati Ratings and Reviews
Frascati is the Crown Jewel of Russian Hill Restaurants. The food, serviceand ambience are impeccable. Everything is done without presence but with the goal of making diners happy they came to this excellent "California Italian" establishment. John welcomes , oversees and orchestrates the action which never disappoints. Five stars to this wonderful restaurant.
Frascati is just one of my favorite dining experiences in San Francisco. I've eaten there maybe half a dozen times, and the food has always been fantastic. I think I've had maybe one appetizer where I've gone " eh this just didn't come together the way i hoped it would." But everything else has been superb without being pretentious. The staff is warm, friendly and sometimes very funny. The atmosphere is like a charming neighborhood restaurant with an understated elegance that doesn't scream for attention but is well integrated in it's personality. It's everything a family owned and operated restaurant should be. If there is a knock on the place it's that parking can be a bit of a challenge, the flip side of that is that the cable cars run right outside the joint. Imagine, having a legitimate reason as a local to ride the cable cars... to a romantic night of dining.
Have been going here of and on for ten years. Feels like it's past its prime. Three course menu was massively overpriced. Food arrived cold. Service was rushed. Overall disappointing experience. Used to be our favorite place in town years ago but doubt we'll be going back.
Frascati is amazing. It's everything one hopes for in a local, neighborhood, cozy restaurant. The food is delicious, with a special call out for the octopus salad, handmade pasta, and grilled chicken entree. Desserts were lovely as well. All this goodness was topped off with lovely ambiance and flawless service. The owners Jon and Rebecca keep a watchful eye and give their guests warm and genuine attention. We will be back.
Everything was great. Ambience was unique and romantic. The lobster bisque was good although not as thick as I expected. The salmon bruschetta, risotto, and venison were all great as well. Very odd and limited beer list and no liquor though. This place is a gem, especially for a date.
The restaurant was great, it was easy to get to and the area it was in (Russian Hill) was a great place to go to for our New Year's eve dinner. Food and staff were the best, very nice and very attentive and the pace of the courses being served were timed perfectly. We had a party of 4 and we all tried different dishes for each course to taste each others, I have to say that every item we tasted on each course was delicious along with the wine choice.
We were able to simply walk up to the top of the hill and watch the New Year's fireworks as well which was a perfect way to end the evening. Oh along with our future son-in-law proposing to our daughter of course... :)
Delicious Italian food, good wine list, attentive but unobtrusive service. This attractive restaurant was jam-packed with a happy crowd in the week before Christmas, but my partner and I enjoyed a special birthday dinner at a quiet table overlooking the street.
Hyde Street is full of classic SF restaurants, they're not necessarily Michelin rated but they're also not fussy, not pretentious, not full of long lines of no-reservation hopefuls whom have never eaten there. Instead they're long-time neighborhood classics delivering what would be high end fine cuisine anywhere else - these are go to restaurants that persist while the flavor-of-the-month gastronomy places rise up and quickly disappear. Frascati is classic high end Italian restaurant that's great for any occasion with a tasty main menu and an affordable wine list. I've taken many out of town visitors to this place to give them a true taste of longtime SF classics - the State Bird Provisions type of restaurants come and go every five years - Frascati and it's Hyde Street peers will be here forever.
Four of us enjoyed dinner here on Wednesday evening. This was our first trip to Frascati, but i'm sure not our last. The experience was wonderful from the service to the food.
We had the octopus salad which was terrific, then Beef Filet, Duck, and Bass. Everyone enjoyed their selection. The preparation, and presentation of each dish was just right.
We would recommend this whole heartily to anyone looking for a great meal and friendly service.
Impressive. Walked in thinking maybe not a good choice but our Server instantly won us over even though He had to backtrack on the bisque telling us one and it being another. Had the Chicken excellent choice, another the Halibut, another the pork chop and all good reviews. Will go back
