Frantoio Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I live nearby and are regulars for dinners. We like the ambiance, the service, and, of course, the food. The main dining room is usually reasonably full but in no way a hotspot so it is possible for couples to talk. Further, there is ample parking which, in our area, is a major problem.
We have been to this restaurant several times before. It is a great place for groups and can accommodate even larger groups. The food is quite good and we like the atmosphere. This last visit they were reportedly short-staffed and so the service suffered some, but that will not keep us from coming back.
One of the better places to eat in southern Marin. Nice ambience, good food and in our experience good service. The happy hour offers some bargains, like $5 wine at the bar ($7 in the dining room) and some good small plates. In the dining room my caprice salad was excellent, and one of my friends raved about the meatballs. A simple house wine and pasta dinner can be very reasonably priced (and good), or you can go upscale on wine and food and do very well in terms of value for money. This is one of our neighborhood restaurants and we return reasonably frequently.
This is a local Mill Valley/Tam Junction gem that not too many people know about. But it is building up a clientel fast. I've been eating here for the last 7 years. The menu has changed since 2010 but only for the better.
A delectable choice of Italian food, great wines and great ambience.
We loved our visit to Frantoio. We went there first for a drink and were personally seated by the manager, who spent time chatting with us. We went back for dinner and found a very friendly, vibrant atmosphere. Our server, Zorro, has been at the restaurant since it first opened a few decades ago. He made several recommendations, which we ordered and enjoyed. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Frantoio is one if our go-to favorites. The food is consistently good, it's a pleasant, mellow atmosphere, and the host staff is great about trying to meet our table requests. The one weakness is that the service is slow. We usually have frustrating waits to order an additional beverage, get coffee refills, replace a dropped fork, etc. The wait staff has mastered the art of "not noticing" that customers are trying to get their attention. Still, we go there several times a year.
Very good restaurant. We had two different kinds of ravioli that were both perfectly cooked with very good sauce. Wait staff and bar tender very welcoming and attentive. Waited recommended a very good Italian wine that went very well with the food. Good panna cotta for dessert. Don't miss the meatball appetizers and be sure to get some bread you will not want to let any of that sauce go to waste! Amazingly quiet for such a large room....maybe that is cork on the ceiling? Sorry to hear that they expect to lose their lease in a couple years.
Sorry, but our waiter was so disgruntled that it effected our entire experience. From curt responses, no introduction, long waiting time for any acknowledgement, delay in getting the food and a messed up order, we were disappointed. And, there was not even an apology at the time or any offer to help us as the customers try to perceive the situation in a better light.
Terrible service. It's like we were invisible. Never brought our wine. Forgot the soup for one of our guests. Like many restaurants in Marin, decent food but no service. I feel sorry for the owner's, maybe their paying attention, maybe not. Either way, we would never go back and we will make sure to tell all of friends.
Husband and I date night out: dinner and symphony. I chose this restaurant because it serves organic foods, and is located near freeway to avoid always traffic of Marin to get to symphony on time. We have come at 5:30 openings for dinner, so service is great and no noose! I don't know noise level at normal dinner hours. But they have high ceilings and that could dampen the noise.
My husband had the lamb which was done perfectly. I had the Day boat scallops which were also perfect. Clean spacious restaurant. We enjoy going there.
The particular night we dined was not a pleasant experience. The waiter acted like he was doing us a favor by waiting on us, even though the restaurant was not busy. I have dined at this restaurant in the past and have enjoyed it. Perhaps this was an off night.
