Frantoio Ristorante has been independently owned and family operated since 1995. We use locally sourced organic non-gmo ingredients, bringing the best Marin has to offer to our traditional northern Italian cuisine. Balancing our menu is our extensive wine list that showcases some of the best Californian and Italian vineyards. We offer a full-bar, 2 private dining areas as well as outdoor seating. Our pastas, breads, desserts and pizzas are made in house from scratch. We are conveniently located off of Hwy. 101, five minutes from downtown Sausalito and five miles from Muir Woods. A very pleasant and unusual Italian dining place. Prices are moderate for the quality. Service was excellent. The room is very nicely decorated without being fussy and the olive press is a nice addition.

We love coming to Frantoio. We are familiar with many of the servers and hosts and know the experience is reliably a great one. Birthdays, anniversaries, Fathers’ Day - you name it! While the food was as good as ever, service on Valentine’s Day was sub par. The place was rather busy, not a typical Wednesday night. Our server, one of their most experienced, was stretched thin and we were left unnoticed for long stretches of time. After 25 minutes with our drinks, the manager noticed us and took our order. Our entrees came while we were only 2/3 through our salads - not a big deal but made for some space challenges on the small table. The to-go dessert we ordered to bring home to our kid was on the bill but forgotten to be brought out; remedied when we asked as we were ready to leave. None of these things are a big deal, but all added up to not the usual wonderful dinner out. We’re still looking forward to our return there - but won’t try it again on Valentine’s!

Don't go on a holiday such as Valentine's Day. The menu was pared down and very small. I found it hard to find something I really wanted. Also, I dislike squash and asked for another green veg that they definitely had. I was told that because it was a busy night, there were no substitutions. Consequently, I left actually hungry. My lamb entree, while good, was $36 and skimpy due to my not being able to eat the squash. Also, consequently, I left with a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. It is sad because I have liked Frantoio in the past. Will I go back again? i don't know.

Very poor service! After 15 minutes of arrivla at our seats, we had to get up and find a waiter. Then we had to ask for a wine list. then we had to ask for bread. then we had to ask for water refill. then we had to ask for our bill, after a long wait.

Frantoio offers reliably fine food: good salads, housemade focaccia and pastas, various pizze from a wood-burning oven, locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients, fresh fish, and more. All this with attentive service in an architecturally unusual room in which dinner conversation is actually possible.

Fancy that! Easy dinner conversation with friends without having to screech and bellow over the din of the uncouth and inconsiderate nearby. While too many restaurants in the SF Bay Area pass off jammed-together tables and deafening noise as "ambience," Frantoio offers refuge for the civilized diner. It is a great place for a relaxing dinner and conversation with friends.
