About Frank's Americana Revival
Frank's is a classic neighborhood restaurant, with big city appeal. With a recognized reputation for memorable food and great service, the "Americana Revival" menu features locally sourced fruits and vegetables, along with fresh Gulf seafood. Try the chicken fried steak! It has been highlighted by multiple food critics as "the best" in the State of Texas. The highly acclaimed Fried Chicken and Maple Brined Pork Chop are just as good.
The steaks are all Certified Angus and come with generous sides on the same plate, and the salads are almost legendary.
Frank's is a place where you can meet your friends in the bar, dine there, or experience the full menu in the dining room.
Reservations are recommended but not required. Come see what Chef Colin Shine is creating.

Frank's Americana Revival Ratings and Reviews
Everything about this restaurant is first class. Burke at the bar is sociable and mixes a top shelf cocktail. The food is outstanding, home smoked salmon, oyster salad, fried chicken to name a few. It is all good. Most of the waiters are long serving thorough professionals. Miguel in particular is at the top of his game. The owner Chris will ensure all is well and if you need assistance will recommend superb wine pairings at reasonable pricing.
First time visit. The waitstaff was extremely friendly and made you feel welcome and at home. The food was beyond good, I had to chopped steak which I must say was the best I have ever had paired with the Mac Allen 18. This little gem has been in my sights for a long time, definitely worth a visit if you are in the mood for great food and great service.
The people behind us were talking loudly to someone who stopped by their table. They all seemed to have hearing disabilities because they talked louder & louder thru the evening.
Our waitperson, Ivan, was attentive until it came time to get the check. His excuse was that he wanted to give me time to enjoy the last of my wine--he'd already taken away my glass so I really didn't understand what he was thinking.
Food was great though. Pity about the service. Hopefully better next time.
Frank's is our neighborhood restaurant! The food is outstanding! Family owned & operated and we love dining there! Mike, Chris & Collin Shine know how to run a great restaurant! We go here at last once a week or order take out! We think it's one of the best restaurants in Houston and highly recommend it all the time! The prices are a good value as well as the wine selection & cocktails!
Went to Franks for a lunch date and HRW menu. Duck Gumbo (which I think they are known for) was excellent. Dark creamy roux. Bibb salad was excellent and the shrimp and pimento cheese grits were fantastic. Lemon cheesecake was perfect. Service was great. Will be back soon to try out regular menu.
We went to Frank's for the first time for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance was simple and it was easy to talk there, but we were disappointed with the food and service. We ordered cocktails to start and I wanted to order a wine to have with my entree. I asked the waiter for the wine list, but never received it. We had to grab it ourselves from the hosts. Later after our entrees, I was excited to see the dessert menu, but because one of us had ordered a dinner inclusive of dessert, the dessert menu wasn't ever offered to us. For my entree, I ordered a filet medium and it was cooked to medium-rare at best. It was very chewy and not very tasty. Overall, this place wasn't even average for me. Maybe it was a bad night, but I don't plan to try it again.
Great wine list, food was pricey which would be fine but execution of the many menu items we tried were lackluster. Stick to comfort food items (fried chicken and chicken fried steak) as the other menu items are not worth it. Salads made with commercial bag-o-greens style lettuce. The fried oyster salad had 6 huge cornmeal globs of fried breading with virtually invisible oyster inside...for $18. Drum on sweet potato medallions was an oily hot mess. biscuit served with fried chicken was a dried up inedible brick. Ahi tuna tartare with on grocery store bag-o-greens with grocery store packet of taro chips - $18. Mac and cheese side was heavenly - perfect.
