Frankie's Jazz Club
Our visit to Frankie's was amazing as always. We come for the incredible jazz fix but the great food and friendly staff are all bonuses. We'll be back!!
Great food and music. Nice menu, wide choice. Home made pasta.
Emily Chambers (the entertainment) was epic! Staff was friendly but efficient.
although we didn't have dinner, everything going by looked fantastic! i will order the beet and steak salad next time, $18 for a salad that was like a meal. Only criticism about the value is that there is no house wine so two glasses of wine (one of the 9 oz and one of the 6 oz totalled $28! would be nice to have a 1/2 litre carafe for a friendlier price! other than that, it's a great place, and it was a great show!
I didn't have dinner on this visit - just desert. Emily set me up with an excellent outside corner bar seat that was right up front and close to the band - just the way I appreciate live music! Great wine list to choose from and at the bar you always get chummy with others sitting beside you...
Anniversary dinner celebration.
Never heard of Frankie’s until 3 days before our dinner but after only one visit I know we’ll become well acquainted with the staff there from now on. The ambiance was incredible and the servers enforced the ‘full respect to the music’ rule throughout.
The food was good and the service exceptional, Crysta (or Crystal?) was the perfect introduction to a wonderful evening and Singer Maria Ho was top drawer, my wife and I aren’t music aficionados but you don’t have to be to enjoy good music.
Cost wise the food was great value, a bottle of Burrowing Owl -a favourite of ours- is 50% more expensive in Cactus Club whilst a shot of Patron will set you back $13.........it was our anniversary!
There is also a cover charge which varies.
Overall we highly recommended Frankie’s Jazz Club....we’re already inching go go back.
Frankie's has amazing artists but their food is mediocre.
Rissotto balls too large and not hot.
Salt and pepper chicken wings had no salt or pepper.
Pizza had a miniscule amount of toppings for price and size.
It was half price wine Wednesday and the entertainment was terrific.
That was a $16 cover on top of the food.
Next time I will try again and let you know.
Great food and service, but when you make a reservation it should be stated clearly that talking is not allowed while the band is playing. There is a 10-15 minute intermission when you are allowed to talk. We were a group of 8 and while the band was great, it wasn’t the type of evening we were after. Not the place to go if you want to catch up with friends.
The principal reason for attending was to hear the Dylan Cramer Trio. Dylan and bassist Bruce Meikle are former secondary school music students I had the pleasure of working with, so take in as many of their concerts as possible. Frankie's is the best venue because the dinner menu is so excellent, and reasonable.
Service has always been first class. I recommend Frankie's on a regular basis.
All great except band too loud, even allowing for R&B theme. The lady singers were outstanding, however, and the overall value terrific.
We love Frankies and mainly go for the music. Did not love the ladies sing the blues. One singer would have been more enjoyable and more bluesy numbers would have gone over well with our small group. They all seemed to be trying too hard to out perform each other. Our server was excellent and so was the food.
I am writing this for a friend that was with us on Saturday night. My friend has serious digestive issues and we asked that her pasta be cooked more than al dente. This was not done so being very polite she just opted to not eat and paid for her uneaten meal. I think the waitress should have picked up on this.
I know that these days there are a lot of food issues and food preferences but I would like to stress that some of these issues mean the difference between visiting or not visiting the hospital after the meal. Sometimes the issues are very serious and should not be taken lightly. We did stress that there were serious digestive issues with the pasta being cooked well done which I know, could be taken as overcooked. Also, there was very little if next to nothing on the menu that she could eat other than pasta.
Always wanted to go to Frankie’s Jazz club and it did not disappoint. Ambience, service, food and entertainment was amazing! Jennifer Hayes and quartet were so amazing to listen to!
The halibut was overwhelmed by the accompaniments on the plate--a shame.
had a great (first!) experience at Frankie's and will return. bar and service were above average and the show was really something, cheers to Jennifer Hayes and her Quartet!
I came for the band but enjoyed the food and drink and the wonderful service
My first time there, my birthday, and the only downside was that my husband wanted to leave at half time because “it’s past my bedtime” .... men! Grrr!
Btw I refused to leave and he hung on til the end. I was paying! 😆
Service was very good. Very friendly staff! Food was surprisingly good Italian fare. Music was great. There are a few table with a limited view of the performers so reserve early
Great food and excellent ambience. Live jazz and Italian food like mamma made
Great live music and attentive service along with good food
We came to Frankie's Jazz Club as we have many times before because we knew the jazz would be excellent, the atmosphere cozy and the food and drinks are good. On this occasion wo le were intrigued by the promotion for Van Django and when we listened to the group play we were amazed and entertained. Their music is clever and they are a delight in performance. You can't beat Frankie's for the combination of jazz and drinks, plus food. We will certainly be back.
First time at Frankie's but we loved the place and the music was great! We sat at a back of the room table but the sound was great. Recommend to all my friends.
It’s all about the music, but the food is great, too!
Frankie’s came through once again. The staff was stellar, the quality of the sound fine, the music excellent. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
Pricey but well worth it. Spectacular food and the service was amazing. Jazz should start earlier. Thanks for a great birthday Lesley
Love Frankie’s, best Jazz Venue in Vancouver. The food is always consistent, we have yet to have a bad meal. We usually have the wings as a starter then
branch out from there. A favourite is the Tomato & Burrata Salad. All the sandwiches are excellent and you cannot go wrong with Spaghetti & Meatballs. Love
Great music. Nice room, friendly service, will definitely seek it out again.
My friend and I were down to toast his birthday and to hear Cory play his jazz hero Hank Mobley.
Glad we were given the server we did as her service is awesome considering she oversaw most of the tables in the place. When I made mention it was my buddy's birthday, she was kind to place a candle on our Affogato after dinner. I also like the artwork on the one wall in Frankie's...all about the hands. Although, I cannot get down as often as I would like here, it is encouraging to know that when I return the service and food and music will be just as appetizing. Molte Grazie Frankie's.
My favorite place for special and non special occasion.
Always a wonderful experience at Frankie’s!
Tia Brazda was amazing and Frankie's staff was fantastic!
Terrific. Tia Brazda was great as usual. Service was really good. Will be back soon.
Great jazz club, intimate, good food, wonderful staff, excellent music. I highly recommend Frankie’s!
Outstanding venue for live jazz and great menu. Highly recommended!
The food was really bad. I asked for a Chicken Marsala and they served a Rotisserie Chicken with a little bit of sauce on top. The server did not find an explanation for this.
The music and show was very well but the food was terrible.
The concert was very pricy for the quality of the show (singer trying to sing in french, but she really needs more practice) we had to return the mussels because they smelled foul, and the bill turned out 150$ for 1 main course and 2 drinks each. Not great value for money
We also attended Wednesday 7.17.19. All the superlatives mentioned for the 19th with Mr. BOOGIE WOOGIE apply to local faculty and students who performed staight ahead jazz.
I think the no talking rule is a bit much. As a musician patron, I like discussing aspects of the performance with my musician friends during the song occasionally
Excellent service and meals. Great acoustics for jazz!!!
Great jazz, staff, service, food and ambiance. Noise level is low in terms of conversation during live music performances.
