   Service was top notch and the food was really well done. We asked to bring home an item that we could not finish and they left it out of the bag. Very disappointing especially when the price of the item was $15. Overall they made us feel welcome and helped my wife and I celebrate our anniversary.

   I am more than willing to pay a premium for the food, drinks and ambiance; however, I do expect other patrons to have proper dress attire. Maybe a ballcap, t-shirt and shorts is better at a bar at Smith Mountain Lake. How about a dress code?

   Mothers Day, 6:30 PM, reservations well in advance, like all the others there. Ordered our drinks, appetizer entree, and sides. The waitress advised us they were out of the baked potatoes, so we ordered mashed potatoes, we were told they were out, so we ordered the Au Gratin potatoes, and they were out as well. This place knew well in advance that it was Mothers Day, and they knew the number of reservations. This was at 6:30 PM, an early dinner. It wasn't like we had a late dinner. Give me a break, there is no way this should have ever happened. All they had available were french fries that we could have gotten at Mac & Bob's. Our bill was $200 plus, and we are eating french fries with our dinner! I was embarrassed for my wife to have to deal with this mess.

   We had reservations for 6:30 pm Mother’s Day. At that point they out of a couple entrees, several sides.and one or two deserts. They said they were busier than expected. I will take the stuff at their word. Except I do find it hard to believe. A reservation type restaurant on a Mother’s Day weekend. You know you will be busy, you know about how many people to expect and what foods are typically ordered. Can’t help but think someone missed the estimated counts well outside of expected norms.

    1) Of the 4 of us, 3 ordered Filets. Waitress told us they would all be butterfly'd, none were. 2) All 4 of our steaks were blackened. We were not told they would be...and it ruined the taste experience for the 2 daughters (age 10 & 15) who have been looking forward to this for a long time. 3) Two of us got the filet w scrambled egg special and neither of us could eat the eggs. They were runny and flavorless. 4) Finally, my 10 year old daughter was most excited about the Molten Lava cake. When it arrived, she dug right in...only to find, NO lava in the middle.     We were put in a spot that was hard to see enough to read the menu, but the waitress was very helpful. There was a large group right in front of our table and there were several children that started to run around and make a fair amount of noise especially for this kind of restaurant. I ordered my steak medium well and it came well done, not even a hint of pink even in the very center. It was dry and tough to chew. I ate 4 bites and left the remainder. The waitress agreed immediately that it was definitely well done and offered another steak but it takes so long to get the food that I know my husband would be done eating before I ever got it. My husband’s steak was large enough that he shared some with me and then we shared a dessert. They took the price of the steak off of our bill, but when you are paying over $60 for a steak they should know how to cook it. The other food was good, but I don’t think we will ever go back.

    It was the first time for all 4 of us to eat at the Salem location and it did not disappoint. Our meal was a celebration of 4 birthdays and both couples’ anniversaries that all occur within a 22 day period in April/May. Our waiter, Justin, and his assistant were just great. He gave good, honest recommendations and we followed several of them. The Chilean sea bass was perfect, as were the Au Gratin potatoes and the carrots. The pineapple martinis were a real treat. Wine was a generous pour. To be honest, the bread was just average, however. But we will be back!

    Overall, a very pleasant, relaxed evening. Our server was on point, and our service experience was great. Steaks and cocktails were fabulous per usual, as well as the famous Oysters Rockefeller, potatoes au gratin, and other sides. The fish special, for the evening was good, properly prepared, but a bit lackluster. The two desserts we ordered were not particularly exceptional. I was planning on about $100 per person, and we came in more like $125/pp. However, we would certainly go again and did enjoy the evening very much.

    Frankie Rowland's is the best steak house in town. Probably one of the best hotel / restaurant bars with a very good selection of drinks and an excellent bar tender. I haven't tried the seafood or too many sides but what I have had was excellent. It's traditional French style. The decor is very clean, black and white, with little distraction other than adjacent tables.

    A fantastic meal. The filet was one of the best I’ve had. Very tender and cooked perfectly, potato wasn’t hot but still tasty. Loved the Brussel sprouts! I would recommend for a splurge night out!

    I was really on the fence about going to the Salem location as I was wondering how much it could differ from the downtown Roanoke location? Glad I went. While I think the quality, service, etc. was the same...I really do like the Salem location better. I think the food is a little bit better...but overall, still very impressed. The waitstaff was great and engaging and very friendly. Admittedly, I went in a bit underdressed (t-shirt, etc.) from how I normally dress when I go out and was not treated any different than normal. The prices were...well a bit higher than I remember (I got to downtown Frankie's maybe 1 time every 2-3 months), but with the economy, I get it. I would recommend this place without hesitation. The food was great, service was great (with very attentive staff), I really have no complaints at all and will definitely be back soon!

    We really enjoyed our dinner last night. Steak was perfection as were all the sides. As a heads-up, the wedge salad is huge so think about splitting with someone. The only thing I would say is the bread served prior to dinner is very lame, all at the table agreed. We just expected bread that matched the experience of all the other food served. The atmosphere is just OK, could be so much more. Almost sterile with the colors. Could be warmed up with some great chandeliers in the dining area, pops of color. It almost felt too business like. Even a bouquet of flowers would add some zip! We cannot complain about anything else. I hope you take this as constructive as we loved our meal.

    Our experience at Frankie Rowlands -Salem was amazing per usual! Natalie, our server was personable and accommodating as always! And our meal was fabulous which can be challenging because I have a restrictive diet. I had the Bourbon Salmon and my husband had their Signature Crab Cake Entree along with Roasted Brussel Sprouts. Everything was prepared beautifully. We are from Upstate New York and fairly new to Salem…Frankie Rowlands-Salem has become our “go-to” restaurant whenever a “date night” is on the calendar!!!

    Love this place. Great steakhouse. I really enjoy the atmosphere and service. Where else can you get a 14 ounce filet. So so good. Creamed spinach and potatoes au gratin are really awesome sides. All sides big enough to share.
