What Insiders Are Saying
A legendary East Village Italian restaurant that we have decided we can now only visit when nobody else will be eating there. Like at 3pm on a Tuesday.
We booked this restaurant due to the menu that was on open table which showed specials for specific entrees on specific days. When we arrived we we're informed that we were wrong and that they were going to straighten out the menu with open table. Not sure if I buy that but I'm open to see if that is the case. At the very least they should have offered to honor some special to compensate us for the visit.
We were greeted by a "not so friendly" hostess who clearly didn't want to be working that day. She tried to squeeze a party of 3 at a table that barely fit 2 and told us that they use this table for 3 when they are busy. So we waited until another table opened up. Then came the service, which was less than good. We had to chase our server, who seemed more interested in talking to his fellow colleagues than waiting on us. Food = 3.5; Service = 2.5; hostess (first impressions) = 2. Would not go back with all the great restaurants in the neighborhood.
Incredible as always. Everything and everyone was warm and welcoming. Thanks for making my graduation dinner so special
Absolutely one of my favorite places now! The Burrata was amazing and the Rigatoni was like something I’ve never tried before. Highly recommend and the ambiance is cozy.
10/10 best limone pasta in nyc
Frank was absolutely alive with energy, which surprised me at our early 6pm seating. We chose to sit at the counter next to the kitchen and it made for lively entertainment during dinner. From the complex citrusy-floral olive oil to the perfectly cooked pasta to the montepulciano, everything was fresh and delicious. The music (90s-early 2000s hip hop and r&b) made us smile. We enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend Frank to anyone who loves damn good food in an unfussy, laid back atmosphere.
On a side note, we appreciated that the restaurant sent a text prior to dinner to remind us that they only accept cash.
My favorite restaurant in nyc. Never disappoints.
We had a reservation and waited 30 minutes for our table. They did not comp us anything or apologize for the inconvenience.
I have always loved the food at Frank, but during my two recent visits, I have been a little turned off by the cleanliness of the restaurant. On my last visit, I have seen the staff climb on a table and the bar with their sneakers on to grab bottles of wine from the top shelf, and then never clean off the countertop. Additionally, the bathroom at Frank has been pretty gross during my last two visits. Both times I have seen other people open the door and then turn around after deciding not to go in. Before I was able to use the bathroom someone told me that I should probably wait until I got home. If the bathroom is consistently not clean, I find it very telling what their cleaning habits are for other areas of the restaurant.
Had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time for a table, and our kids were a bit overwhelmed by the noise and the foul-mouthed hipster next to us. But the place was good at what it was trying to be and perhaps we were fish out of water.
As always: great food, great service. Many restaurants in the neighborhood but Frank is one not to miss.
Some of the best Italian in NYC. It’s a tight squeeze but the ambiance is still great.
Best Italian meal we’ve had in awhile. Everything was on point.
First time for my wife and me. The food was quite good and the service very attentive. However, the tables were on top of each other and, at my age, I'd prefer a less frenetic dining experience.
Food is delicious but Restaurant is very small and seating is on top of each other. The waitress actually had to ask people to get up so we could get out to leave.
very fun and delicious! I recommend, the food was excellent
Phenomenal food - my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. Delicious food, homemade pasta, burrata to die for plus fairly and moderately priced! Can’t beat it - if you’re looking for a solid Italian meal without breaking the bank - go here!
Frank is one of my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. Incredibly flavorful food, awesome ingredients, lovely restaurant - a definitive hit!
Great food! Fabulous location and service! We could eat here every night :)
Had a truly wonderful time. My server was lovely and attentive, while letting me enjoy my alone time. The food was everything I wanted it to be. Truly delish. Also, great music! Love a good throwback!
Frank never disappoints! Best Tuscan Kale Caesar and Gnocchi on earth!
We always order the same: fennel salad to share and black linguini with calamari. You should do the same,
I have lovely memories of this restaurant - which has always had a unique charm.
But these days, it feels over-priced, under-serviced and the food, while good, is not up the standard I so fondly remember. I suspect there is a bit of resting on laurels. Not bad, not great.
A great place for authentic Italian food. My eggplant was not breaded, sautéed with mozzarella and red sauce. I paired it with spinach ravioli and sautéed spinach and garlic. Magnifico! Get a window seat for East Village people watching!
well worth jumping into the city for from Brooklyn ... 👍
The restroom was beyond filthy. Just gross.
Food is very good BUT could be better. The steak was a tat too chewy. Pasta was a little over cooked.
Frank is the man - this is our favorite spot
Made a reservation for 9:30 and even then it was so busy it was hard to get inside past the bar! We were seated at communal table and it was very tight at first, but once the waiting crowd moved it was ok. Server was helpful and friendly and kind. We all shared various apps and pastas and had a nice meal. Everything tasted GREAT! Cheap wine too 44-48$ a bottle. Very interesting but fun hip hop soundtrack.
Made a reservation but wasn't even seated, apparently they don't look at their online reservations (so why have them?). The indifferent hostess said it'd be a 20 minute wait, I left my number and she never called. Ended up getting dinner somewhere else instead
Although we had a reservation they took an additional hour to seat us. The body and staff were extremely rude and they didn’t disclose that we’d be sharing a table with another party. I won’t be returning.
It was loud, our table was somewhat overlooked. Food was fine, but nothing special.
Restaurant was awesome. I’ll just make sure to not go with my trash date, again.
My dad was in town. We were put in a corner on top of a heater and basically had to serve ourselves our own food. And at 8pm, the music got so loud you couldn’t speak.
I’m coming to Frank for many years and I always have a good time. I will say this last time the food was good-but too expensive for the quality.
Delicious and portions are good sized. We shared a few things- Tried the father being purée that we saw on Instagram and it was fantastic
