Frank Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Frank is my favorite restaurant in nyc. Unassuming but delivers every time. Came in for the white truffles that you can’t find fresher or for a better price. Pasta was amazing, crispy egg leaves you wondering why you’ve been doing eggs wrong this whole time and to top it off the service is always great. You feel like a member of the family every time you sit down.
My parents were in town and treated myself and 3 friends, so 6 total. We got a table outside. Guests will be seated when all of your party is there, fyi. There is a bar you can sit at and wait if need be.
We ordered bruschetta and stracciatella mozzarella and they both were amazing. Got an assortment of pastas for our main course and everyone was satisfied. All of us had left overs to take home, which they kindly boxed up for us.
We ordered the molten chocolate cake but they didn't have any so they whipped us up some espresso and ice cream, think Coke float but espresso, tiramisu, and a pancetta with chocolate on top "all on the house"
Expedited service: they took our unfinished appetizers away while we were still eating, literally just took the plates away while we were still working on it. They asked "May I take this away?" and did not wait a second for a response and just took our plates. Overcharged for alcohol. Food was pretty good and very decent servings.
There are a million great restaurants in NYC, but Frank is the one I most regularly come back to. For someone who was raised on great pasta at home, Frank tastes like home. We ordered 5 pastas for 3 people (which says more about our appetites than the portions (the portions are large!) so that we could share. We had the rigatoni, penne, orecchiette, spaghetti, and gnocchi. All were excellent and simple. I love how simple the red sauce is, especially. Terrific food, quick service, really nice people. I'll be back again (and again, and again, I'm certain). tf
If I had a nonna instead of an Irish grandma and an English grandma, I imagine this is what Sunday dinner would be like every weekend - great food and lots of it, (typical southern Italian as well as interesting adaptions and combinations), too many relatives crammed into a small space trying to talk over each other and a relaxed, comfortable vibe. I normally hate noisy restaurants with no space between tables but here it is actually [almost] acceptable.
The bruschetta is refreshing and a large portion. All the pastas are delicious, you can't go wrong. I am generally not big on red wine, but the house chianti was very smooth. (Note: whatever wine you don't finish if you order the bottle is pro-rated, which is a nice option.)
This place is cash-only; staff very friendly and helpful; interiors a bit tight but cozy.
The food, wine & service were amazing. I would definitely come back & recommend. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the location of our seats. We were sat at the bar & while it was cool to watch the chef prepare the meals, I specifically asked for a table when I made the reservation.
We have been going to Frank for years and have seen a lot of employee turnover but the food has always tasted the same: very good. Not this time. We ordered the dishes we always order, but for the first time we were very disappointed. We won't be back any time soon.
Food was outstanding, starting with appetizers all the way through to dessert. Service was great. Wine list was better than expected. The only negative is that the tables are tiny and there are too many crammed into a relatively small space. The food was so good that we'll put up with that when we return, which will be sooner rather than later. FYI - it is cash only so be prepared.
Appeared to be a nice little cosy place with a hearty menu.
We didn't mind being ignored a few times by the waiter when we wanted some pepper or additional water. However, not receiving an apology when we sent back a glass of water that still had lipstick on it, left us unimpressed.
I was going in with high expectations after reading the reviews. I was disappointed with dinner. Ordered roasted beet salad, mozzarella, and mussels to start. They was nothing special and portions were small considering the price point.
For entrees ordered the signature rigatoni, handmade spaghetti with meatballs, and chicken parm with spaghetti. The rigatoni also was underwhelming. Spaghetti very good, chicken parm very good.
Service was very helpful and polite. Food was underwhelming and seemed overpriced - especially the appetizers. The atmosphere was charming. The meal had a couple of bright spots but not enough. I will not be returning and can not recommend this place to others. Sorry.
