While our dinner menu is dominated by seafood, you'll also find vegetarian and non-seafood options such as roasted chicken and pan-seared steak. Lunches here are fast and fresh, with plenty of healthy options. Think grilled salmon salads, homemade seafood soups and chowders, fish tacos and oyster Po’boys.
Excellent and fresh seafood
Always delicious food and outstanding service!! Black cod just melted in your mouth!
Our first issue was that the menu didn't show the several types of fish being served. Kind of a important thing to know. They say that because they have new, fresh offerings daily, they don't provide one. The waitress did allow us to review the handwritten list of 7-10 fish available. Unfortunately, that list didn't have the prices - which turned out to be a price per pound and not a price per serving. You have to guess or know from experience or desire how much you want to have. You can choose how you want it prepared (e.g., grilled, blackened, etc.) and what type of seasoning you want. All, good, if you are that experienced, but if you were expecting to come in an have a set menu offering at set prices as we did, we found it to be a lot of work and guessing. The waitress was patient and nice, given the situation and who we were. The staff delivering the food did so with zero style of presentation - that is why the service score dropped from what the good job (3-stars) the waitress had done. The food was good. My intent here was not to be negative, but to say that overall it wasn't what we expected. We were looking for a traditional restaurant, while this was a place where fresh fish could be purchased, prepared and served to you with a reasonable set of sides and wine choices. Tried to be fair and helpful in this review.
Franco’s always delivers! The seafood is fresh and prepared to perfection. The sides are wonderful (the lobster Mac is to die for!). Service was great! Live music was phenomenal. I have never been disappointed at this establishment. I highly recommend!
Both chicken Parmesan and veal Parmesan were very dry and hard in parts. The shrimp with risotto and seafood lasagne were good
Great dining experience...food and staff was very good.
Good food in an unexpected place. Reasonably quiet; service was prompt. Seating is varied -- tables for two or larger groups. The lighting was dimmed a bit -- a nice touch. Food portions were 'just enough'. Veal parmigiana was very good as was the Sauvignon Blanc accompaniment. The Beets and Burrata was also good as was the Shrimp Bisque. As this establishment also has fresh fish for purchase, diners can order fish prepared as they wish from a very wide variety of possibilities. We'll come back.
Delicious food, creative pre-set menu for New Year's Eve, delightful service. Great for couples, less so for young kids on nights with the set menu.
Service and food was excellent. We will be back
Beautiful & delicious New Years Eve menu!
I continually recommend Franco's. It is excellent. Best seafood in the area.
First off: Lunch food was very good, fresh, with ample proportions. For dine-in you order at the register. We did that and I graciously added a 25% tip at the on-screen prompt. Then we took a seat at a table of our choice as there was nobody in the restaurant. Our drinks were brought out followed shortly by our food. After that, there was ZERO contact by the staff. No "how is everything". No "can I get you some more water or a refill on your soda". No "can I remove these empty plates sitting ugly in front of you". No "thank you, have a good evening". So when I provided a generous tip BEFORE receiving any service, I assumed there would be some service to back it up. I can order at a McDonald's kiosk and have them bring food to the table and never see them again. That's not what I expected from Franco's. The service I received was non-existent, and not even worthy of a 10% tip. If I ever go again, it will probably just be for take-out.
Always a wonderful experience! Food was delicious and service was excellent. Onaga and halibut were perfect.
We had reservation for 7, only six attended. Seated in a nice quiet spot. Waitress “Natasha” was great and knowledgeable. We had Lake Superior Walleye, Sea Bass, Halibut. Fish can be cooked several ways as offered on menu. We shared sides ( ala carte) of Mac n lobster, mashed potatoes and roasted veggies.
Check it out !
This is a cute neighborhood gem. The fish was very fresh and prepared in a beautiful presentation. The cold smoked beef kabob had a delicious flavor. There was an interesting array of side dishes. We will definitely be returning.
Food was excellent, however we were overlooked for a while. Guests at TWO other tables, that were seated after us, were served water and brought bread before anybody even stopped by our table. I think several tables were seated shortly after we were, and the server was a bit confused and overwhelmed. The rest of meal required a great deal of patience.
Great food! Place was really busy and took us over 2 hours to complete our meal. Needed more servers.
This place is a hidden gem. Great fresh fish, nice people, and cool setup. Even had live music ( guy playing guitar and singing) the night we were there. This place is now one of our regulars.
Hidden gem with fresh fish and seafood. High marks for food preparation and presentation!
Free Birthday cake!!!
Had the sea bass! Wonderful!
We really like the selection of fresh fish, however, as you would expect with a fresh selection in the Midwest, specialty items will sell out. We had sea bass and Norwegian salmon but would have also liked to try the red snapper - but that was limited. Grilled calamari appetizer was very very good. Salads and sides are also very good - but we are there for the fresh fish which is the best in the area. Selection is very good and prepared your way. Owner is attentive and engaging. This is the best place for fresh fish in the area.
Ambiance, staff and good were fantastic.
The food and service was outstanding again!! Very satisfied!
Love love love the food at Franco’s. Fish is so fresh. The way prepared is spot on. Even leftovers were wonderful.
My husband and I had a memorable (in the positive sense) dining experience at Franco's Pescheria. Our server was attentive, informative and cheerful; and the fresh seafood dishes were exquisite! We particularly marveled over one of our appetisers -- Calamari Fritti -- which was remarkably tender and in the lightest, crispest batter we have tasted. The Blackened Grouper and Swordfish (broiled) were delicious and done to perfection. Grilled fresh seasonal vegetables were a lovely complement to our meal. Portions were very generous! The only potential downside I would mention is that the noise level was quite high -- we went on a Saturday night, so the restaurant was close to capacity. It may be quieter during the week. But, as my husband noted, "The food is SO delicious who wants to be distracted by a conversation, anyway! We can't wait to go back!!!
Hawaiian fish was delightful. Light & flaky. We were able to choose prep & had 2 sauces on the side to try with the fish.
I was there once before and loved it ! Brought two friends to celebrate a birthday. They thought the food and atmosphere was amazing!,,
Recommended by a friend and the food was outstanding. As first timers the waitress did a great job of discussing all the fish options. So many great choices we will have to go back soon.
First time here. Service was great, as was the food. We’ll definitely be back.
It’s always a special night at Franco’s!
Top notch drinks, perfect food, delightful people.
Another Fresh, Friendly, Fran-tastic evening!)
Suggest to everyone. We will be returning often!
We are somewhat regulars at Franco's. Been going there since they opened a couple years back. The fish is exceptional and perfectly cooked every time we go. Highly recommended.
We had an great dinner at Franco's. My scallop risotto was amazing, but my husband's order of the Fresh Catch from the Case - he chose Opah, seared with butter and topped with an espresso chili rub - was incredible. Our server Fran was great and super helpful choosing a wine to pair with our meals and even helped us warm up some baby food for our 9 month old son. Overall a lovely night out.
We have been to Franco’s a number of times and was a bit disappointed this time. It took awhile to get waited on and then the crab cakes and calamari were not as good as usual. Pasty and a bit undercooked. One piece of calamari was so chewy that it was inedible. The grouper was excellent as usual and I was glad to see they have J Winery Pinot Noir. Delicious!
First time there, will go back again. Everything was very fresh.
Delicious as always and very attentive service too!!
Great service and food
This was our second time at Franco’s. We had a wonderful experience the first time. This time I ordered the fish stew. It was very disappointing. The description says it comes with a broth and cream. The amount of liquid was minuscule at the best. The seafood was dry and over cooked . The crab legs came un cracked and needed to be sent back to the kitchen. Our fries were not seasoned properly. My husbands tuna was cooked properly. I will be back for the lobster roll, but afraid to try something new.
Glenda, I am sorry to hear about your experience, especially after I personally came to your table and inquired about your meal and saw that the crab legs needed to be split a bit more. If you had told me when I talked to you that you did not think the food was fantastic, we would have been happy to replace the meal or get you something new without question. In the future please do not hesitate to let us know you are unhappy; we will not hesitate to make it right. Thanks Franco.
Wonderful as always!! Black cod is fabulous!! Lobster mac ‘n cheese is scrumptious! Fran is always a terrific server!!
Really, really terrific food, setting, great concept and execution— meeting a real need outside the city!
