He has thoughtfully created a plentiful, three course menu with five choices of appetizers, six entrees and a handful or two of his homemade desserts.
Chef also prepares daily specials and Italian specialties. Chef uses only the freshest and finest of ingredients. All of his dishes are made to order and he accommodates any palate, including gluten free, vegetarian and vegan.
Al fresco dining on our terrace will reminiscent of "old world Paris" at the beach!

What I assume was the “owners wife” was playing hostess and tried explaining the menu and spent way too much time with us making us more uncomfortable then anything and seemed to be guesstimating the menu repeating “Francis” every sentence - when I asked which version of the octopus to get I was treated like an idiot -
I had heard such amazing things about the food despite the hostess and unfortunately it all went crashing down when I tried the tasteless escargot (if you’re French you know messing up escargots is near impossible) these were sad With no taste.
Then moved on to my own octopus which was a good waste of food since the sauce was again tasteless.
The meat was of course amazing but sauces completely failed and just too sweet too salty and clearly a mess.
To make this short, it was bad and got worst with each plate. Absurdly expensive tasteless food and at the end when we tried being honest the hostess did not apologize or acknowledge the untouched plate of duck on the table.
Saved the night with a slice of lemon meringue pie and drinks with good people.

Interesting menu beyond the normal shore fare. Escargot, veal, seafood appetizer, open-faced lobster ravioli all excellent. Not cheap, but given the quality of the food, fairly priced. I highly recommend Francis.

Incredibly small dining room - maybe 30 seats total. Due to the small space the noise level was pretty loud. Prix fix menu - very limited. The best thing about this restaurant was the dessert - The Belgian Chocolate tear drop was amazing!! The rest of the food was not special.

Francis' French Restaurant was a great find. Food was excellent, they offer a prefix menu which includes Appetizer, Main Course and Dessert for only $48. They offer several dinner specials that will include an appetizer and dessert from the main menu, and prices are a bit higher.
It is a small dining room, I counted only 32 seats, but it was quaint and pleasant. Service was excellent. I definitely will go there again. I loved it.
Unfortunately there was a table of 6 that was very loud. Attempts by the staff to ask them to reduce the noise level were unsuccessful. If it weren't for this I would rate the experience as very good. The food is very good and the wait staff is energetic and pleasant. I will still go back again.
After moving to Chicago 10 years ago, I returned to LBI for a long weekend with family and had dinner at Francis and was so impressed by the quality food and attention to detail that this chef praises himself on. In the dining room, Francis’ wife Donna roams the small space sharing her knowledge about the menu and her chefs love for cooking. The space is simple and inviting compared to the food which is very elegant. So, if you’re wanting a fine dining experience with the ability to wear shorts and a golf shirt, this is it! It’s BYOB so stop off for some wine before or hit the liquor store across the street and have a great time.

As always the food and service were excellent. The entrees are are beautiful melds of different flavors that compliment each other so well. The pre-fixe menu is relatively inexpensive for the quality of food that is served. Francis seems to outdo himself each time we visit. But Debra is the best. I adore how she can gibe with my husband and his male counterparts yet have them laughing and enjoying her company. I guess it’s an Eagles vs Giants thing!!!

For appetizer , hubby had foi gras which was melt-in-your-mouth good . I had arugula salad which was quite good but the dressing was a tad tangy for me . For the main course , we both ordered squid ink pasta with seafood since it reminded us of our Venice vacation where we had our pasta il nero de seppia ( pasta with squid/ cuttlefish ink ) . The squid ink pasta in Francis’ was good but it lacked the squid ink taste we were craving for . Though the pasta had black ink color , it tasted like a regular pasta .
To sum it up , we plan on going back there again to try other food selections in the menu .

The food is fantastic. Tasted a bunch of different dishes (we were a big group) and every plate was beautiful and delicious. It was very noisy. Had to shout to talk to each other. They need something to absorb some of the noise. They also need an extra person on the wait staff. They were great and working really hard but needed help.

Francis' Restaurant is truly a great find. Francis is a fantastically talented chef who takes great care in preparing every meal. We have dined here many times, and keep going back. The duck is out of this world, perfectly cooked and paired with his famous cherry sauce. The veal chop was also outstanding. Can't miss!
The appetizer was fantastic, crab and shrimp between layers of filo. The duck was too fatty and not seated properly. Prefix price was a bit high at $60. For a shore resturant. The ambiance was very poor. The redeeming factor was the owner was so personable and lovely.
Even though there was a large party of 12 next to our table, the staff were very accommodating and made our dining experience just fine. Food was very tasty and abundant.

The food was outstanding! We thoroughly enjoyed the napoleon , escargot, scallops, filet and the teardrop chocolate dessert. Lovely little restaurant, although a little tight in seating. We will definitely be back.
We traveled from Beach Haven to FRANCIS, not an easy trek with the lights back on, but have to say it was worth it! The food was such high quality which is difficult to find on LBI. We had escargot, veal, and homemade squid ink pasta with seafood that was fabulous!! And the desserts were also made in house by Francis, the chef and owner, and were superb. The restaurant is rather shabby tho, they could use a decorator or a new space altogether and then I would give 5 stars.
Not sure if we would recommend. Read many reviews of Francis'. The restaurant was cute inside. The menu was very limited at a prefix. The appetizer was delicious, the main course (pork tenderloin) was ok. They ran out of one of the entre's before 7 PM on a Saturday. If you are serving 4 entre's, you should have them all available at that hour. Desert was fine. They did have some other specials at a la cart pricing. The service was ok, not as attentive as it should have been at those prices. My husband had the Branzino - it was also just ok. He's a fish eater - this didn't agree with him at all. Maybe it was an off night? There are many other choices at lower prices and great quality on the island. We probably won't be back.

We were there for Mother's Day Brunch. We had Eggs Benedict and Florentine as well as Dover Sole plus Smoked Salmon with avocado and arugala salad. Everything was very fresh and prepared perfectly. Service was friendly and not rushed. Good time.
Had a wonderful dinner at Francis' this past weekend. The food was amazing!
