About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Hot spot
  • Lively
Fraiche (French for Fresh) is a fresh take on culinary fusion with inspiration from multiple cultures (including French, Cajun/Southern American, and Caribbean). This is also a fresh take on the historic architecture of the venue, which was once a theater.

Fraiche is designed to be a non-pretentious culinary destination with a nod to upscale dining without the stuffiness. The menu is constructed in a way that takes approachable and recognizable food and elevates it, with no flavor left behind!

Since the beginning of time, food has brought people together and that is our ultimate goal with this concept.

I have been twice. The first time was so elegant and amazing. Took my partner back for his birthday. Let me tell you the noise was out of control. I suppose someone was also celebrating a party and it was so LOUD I could not hear myself think. Jaz, our bartender saved the experience. THANKS JAZ!!!

This is my new favorite DC restaurant! The food is amazing and I can’t wait to go back! The oxtail meatballs, mambo fried snapper, and golden gate noodles are to die for! Cocktails are delicious and the vibes are immaculate. Mr. Make It Happen has really out done himself.

We made a reservation for the Grand Opening. Overall, our experience was outstanding. All wait staff, host greeters, managers, etc. were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Our waitress, KayKay was awesome! We tried the oxtail meatballs and she crab soup for appetizers. The meatballs are to die for! Wish they were offered as an entree, they are delicious! The soup was also delicious, flavorful and loaded with lump crab. Our entrees, fried red snapper and Cornish hens, were also delicious. The 4 cheese macaroni and cheese was yummy! We had the Remy Martin sidecar cocktails, no regrets there! Would definitely return.

From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and genuine. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between upscale and welcoming — ideal for both a date night or a special dinner with friends. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The standout for me was the Mumbo fried Red Snapper and the Short Rib Garlic Noodles. Rich tender, and perfectly seasoned. Cocktails were creative and well-balanced, and the wine list was impressive without being overwhelming. Easily one of the best dining experiences I've had in D.C. — can't wait to come back!

I visited Fraiche the day before the grand opening on May 5th for a pre-birthday celebration for myself and my aunt with a few of our friends. We had excellent service Olive was our waitress, and she was the best. The food was top-tier. The drinks were all of that and I also got an opportunity to meet Matt, which was even better. I highly recommend the restaurant and I wish you all the best.

My wife and I have a tradition of trying out new restaurants every year around our anniversary—and this year, on May 4th, 2025, we had the absolute pleasure of dining at Fraîche in DC. After 15 years of marriage and 17 years together, we can honestly say this was one of the more memorable times. Hands down. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like family. The host at the front immediately acknowledged our anniversary, setting the tone for what would become a truly memorable evening. Our waitress, Taesha, was an absolute gem—attentive, warm, and incredibly knowledgeable. Every single dish she recommended was spot on. (Pro tip: get the Golden Gate Noodles with Salmon, Mambo Fried Snapper, Honey Butter Cornbread, 5 Cheese Mac & Cheese, Brussel Sprouts, and Butterscotch Bread Pudding. Every bite was next-level.) What truly made the night unforgettable was when Mr. Make It Happen himself, Matt Price, and Chef J.R. Robinson came by our table. As someone who has been watching Matt's YouTube videos for years and proudly owns his cookbook, finally tasting his creations in real life was such a joy. They both asked how we were enjoying the meal and gave us a brief, personal history of how Fraîche came to be. That kind of hospitality is rare. And speaking of hospitality—welcome back to the DC food scene, Chef J.R. Robinson! We have missed your flavor and creativity since your KitchenCray days, and it is so good to have you bringing that magic to Fraîche. To top it all off, we were treated to complimentary champagne, a generous and thoughtful touch that perfectly capped our evening. Fraîche is more than just a restaurant. It’s a celebration of food, culture, and connection. Mr. Price , Chef Robinson, and Taesha—thank you for giving us an anniversary to remember. We will be back soon, and often.

Me and my sisters had the best time at Friache—and the food? Absolutely flawless. Every single dish was a hit: Oxtail Meatballs: 10/10 Ribs: 10/10 Mambo Wings: 10/10 Oysters: 10/10 Noodles: 10/10 Brussels Sprouts: 10/10 Fried Snapper: 10/10 Service: 10/10 The flavors were rich, the food came out fresh and hot, and the portions were generous. But the real star? That bread pudding. Soft, warm, and unforgettable—make sure you save room for it. Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. You did that, Matt! We’ll definitely be back.
