Foxfire at The Stone Barn
Dinners offer ala carte selections from a menu utilizing produce from local farm such as Nunamaker Farms, Carlisle Produce, Swallow Hill Farm, Marlboro Mushrooms, Mother Earth Mushrooms, and many others, even from our own gardens right here on the farm!
Sunday Brunch is served buffet style with rotating options so that even a weekly attendee will find new selections each visit. Staples include made-to-order omelettes and a carving station along with breakfast and lunch dishes, soups, salads, and dessert.
The Stone Barn is BYOB with no corkage fee, so you are welcome to bring any alcoholic beverage to enjoy with your meal. We are happy to provide you with glassware and mixers, so be sure to ask your server about whatever you might need!
The four of us came from Philly, on our way to Longwood Gardens. We sat outside on the deck even though it was hot out. We had a delightful time! The food was soooo delicious! Service was great! What a GEM!
What an enchanting venue! We have been inside during the colder months but never outside on the patio. Fantastic atmosphere. Excellent service. Delicious food. BYOB😁
This was our first visit to the brunch at The Stone Barn to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary.
We were very pleased with the experience and will come back again for sure.
Went for Sunday brunch which is served as a buffet. Service - good - but was really seating, then serving water, coffee & juices as desired. The buffet was self-serve. The variety of foods covered breakfast fare (breakfast potatoes, eggs and a variety of dishes and an omelet station, bread, bagels, etcetera) and lunch fare (salads, fish, a carvery, pasta, soup and so on). Then desert (home-made pies of various types, ice cream, cookies.) The food was all well prepared, appropriately seasoned and high quality. The wait staff was attentive and engaged. Décor was rustic (it was, after all "The Stone Barn") clean and pleasant. Tables were well enough separated that the conversational "hum" from other guests (about 30) was quiet. Good value for the money.
This was our first visit. We selected it because it was a BYOB & offered a Sunday brunch buffet.
It was also about half way between our house & the home of friends in Perryville, MD. It is a bit of a drive from the Philadelphia close-in suburbs, but not only was the drive very pleasant (watch out for the Chester County Cycling Club) but the food and service were excellent! The building and rooms were very attractive, well-appointed, and rustic. The buffet selections were super-a prime rib carving station, salmon, fried chicken, fresh veggies, as well as the typical breakfast items, including a perfect eggs Benedict. The desserts were all freshly baked-pies, carrot cake, lemon mousse, ice cream, fresh fruit. Oh, and did I mention a delightful salad bar?
This would also be an excellent venue for a wedding or other group event. We will be back to order from their regular menu!
Nice evening at Foxfire at the Stone Barn. First time here even though we have lived in the area for 15 years. Really liked the covered outdoor porch setting - it was a beautiful night. Was surprised it was not more crowded - only two other tables at 7:30. Perhaps being off the beaten path and that it is a BYO contributes to that? Food was good - will definitely try it again.
The Stone Barn never disappoints and their summer menu does a great job utilizing fresh local ingredients. Be sure to check out their mushroom flatbread, it's out of this world!
The restaurant and menu are very dated. The waitress was friendly, but didn't know any of the specials or how the food was prepared. The atmosphere was terrible. Food was very mediocre and overpriced. One of the worst dining experiences I have had in years. I have no idea how this restaurant got so many good reviews.
This is a real Chester County gem. The service was great and the food could not have been better. I highly recommend Foxfire.
Great service...fantastic food....great variety. We'll come back.
Love this place! Got married here and keep coming back for dinner and brunch often.
Came as a late Mother’s Day brunch; food was excellent!
The Foxfire restaurant has great potential...the venue is beautiful, but they have many things to address before they become a sought after dining location. The dining area is cool and damp, but I had read the reviews and expected that, so I was prepared with a jacket. It was very loud, despite the fact that only 4 or 5 tables were being used. Some soft structures to absorb noise would be helpful. Our waitress was friendly, but very inexperienced and untrained. Two at our table ordered the ribeye, one ordered well done and the other ordered medium rare...they both looked the same. We could have sent one back (probably should have), but we had already waited a long time for our meal. For the quality of the meal and the service, our bill was way too high. I really do hope they can work on these issues...because I would love to see them succeed.
Great food, nice quiet atmosphere, everything was delicious. We got the Salmon Candy, fried Calamari and mushroom soup to start and they were all very good. Then the Rockfish, crab cakes, chicken, pork chop, and lamb burger which were also very nicely done. Desserts were tasty too - creme brûlée and strawberry rhubarb pie. Everything is locally sourced too, very Farm-to-table. Nice and quiet with a cozy barn decor, great place to come with a group you want to enjoy talking to, and not have to yell over the music. A wonderful experience, and we will definitely be back.
We had a party of 8 and everything we ordered was delicious. Several of us ordered the ribeye and it was a nice size steak and was very good! There just seems to lacking in the ambiance. It’s such a cute stone farmhouse but yet when you walk into the open space dining room it’s just not warm and inviting.
But overall we had a great meal! Desserts were delicious as well!
We won't be returning. We had a dreadful experience overall. The wait staff were all good kids who tried, and the food wasn't awful, just standard fare. The restaurant was old, drafty/cold, dusty, and depressing. There was an event taking place upstairs and it was insanely loud and the ceiling looked like it was going to come down from all the stomping. The lights in the dining room were up too high, and it just seemed like they weren't even trying to make it a nice experience. To add insult to injury, the bill was very high, way too pricey for a miserable night out. Unfortunately, the whole experience kinda ruined my weekend. Saturday night date nights are way too precious to be ruined by such a bad experience :(
Space was charming but too cold. It was a wet, cool night, but dining space was really cold. Cannot wait to go back during the summer....space will be great on hot nights. Outdoor space super cute and inviting too.
Two couples met up for dinner. It’s one of my favorite restaurants. First it has great ambiance. The servers are very nice. The chef sometimes comes out to chat with the guests. It’s byob which is also great. I had the best seared scallops I’ve ever had. The Kennett Square mushroom chowder is also to die for. Definitely recommend.
Sunday brunch was incredible! From the service and ambiance to the food, everything was top of the line. We will be returning!
Setting was beautiful and the food was good. The wait service could have been more experienced, but was very nice.
The restaurant is consistently wonderful! The staff is very attentive and the food is high quality. The duck breast and swordfish were terrific! Kudos to the establishment; it is one of our favorites!
Very dated facility which detracted from the overall experience. Food was very good, service was acceptable.
Not consistent with the level of experience expected, as compared to other restaurants on OpenTable.
Delicious!!! All food was hot when it came out. Everything fresh. Everyone in our party had a good meal and was pleased.
Terrific food and great value! We brought beer and wine to enjoy with our meals.... service was great. We will return.
Awesome food. Great value since BYOB. Really a Gem for the Kennett area. Take your bottle of wine and enjoy the exceptional culinary experience!
The food is always amazing. I just had the best steak ever at a restaurant
Great food, our 9 yr old grandson, ate like a king. The servers were quick and courteous, the buffet was stocked with a great selection of breakfast and lunch style edibles
Thank you for a great brunch, we will be back.
A hidden gem. We had a wonderful meal with outstanding service.
Service excellent! We’ll be back. Thank you Erica!
I would definitely go there again for dinner! I forgot to take pics of the dessert :( , it was also delicious
What a beautiful experience. All of the food was fresh, the service was excellent and we cannot wait to come back
Food tasted excellent. Expect to have a nice relaxing meal. Appetizers were very good.
Perfect spot for a small group dinner or date night. Loved the ambiance and fireplace. Food was spectacular. We dropped the ball and forgot our wine, but still had a great night and waitress was spectacular. We even had one glass donated to us which was such a nice touch! Will def return.
The mushroom chowder was delicious as was the crab cakes and the strip steak. The mashed potatoes were not hot. Can’t wait to come back to try something else.
Great BYOB in ksq. A little off the beaten path but worth a visit. Food was good, but the large fireplace and country feel was great. Recommend giving it a try for date night
Worst service I have ever received. The was just ok. My daughter’s duck was over cooked, my scallops weee raw.
Great food but does not seem to be well traveled. No one there, no music, didn't even look open.
Quieter than a church which was a bit off putting despite really good food.
A shame they cannot advertise and get more folks to come in.
Stone Barn is a great country restaurant with delicious food during brunch. The staff is just wonderful. Will definitely be back
Waitress disinterested, had no idea of specials or how they were prepared. Frosty mug was a warm drinking glass. Facility is lovely and food very good.
We had an overall great experience at the stone barn. Our food was amazing, server was attentive and the facility was beautiful. We'll be back for sure.
