    Very slow, unfriendly service. Started raining outside, nobody bothered to help us get an umbrella or move inside. We had to find our own table, move our own food, dishes etc. Staff acted as if they were doing us a huge favour by serving us. Did not feel welcome at all. Food was ok but we couldn’t wait to finish and get out of there.

    Our server was sub par with the other great servers we have had in the past there. They did not engage in any way with us right from the start and seemed to be in a rush to move on to other tables from the get go. Complete orders were not sent upon food arrival and we had to remind the person who presented our meal of a missing side. When our original server came to fill up our water glasses towards the end of our meal, they ended up pouring a truly considerable amount of water on the table then gave us a “whoops” and left us to clean it up. No “I’m so sorry, I’ll be right back to wipe it up”. Nope, nothing. We gathered what paper napkins we had and sopped it up ourselves. We were not very impressed. Good thing our cellphones were positioned away from this mini waterfall and did not have all this water poured on them. We really love our local F & J but not so much this experience. Unfortunately our tip reflected the service.

    The server came to our table and asked us if we’re finished. Our son told her no. While still standing there she asked him again and he again said no. While still still standing there she repeated the question. He again told her no. He was still eating his fries. She took the dirty napkins put them on his plate and took away his uneaten fries. She either didn’t like his answer or just didn’t want to hear it. It wasn’t even as if she came back three times and asked him on separate occasions. This was all in one stop.

    Nice pub / restaurant in the Bloor West Village. Large range of food options and the food was good. My wife had the fish and chips, which were excellent - wonderfully thin and crisp coating on the fish! I had the seafood linguine - the pasta looked more like spaghetti and one of the mussel shells had broken so there were shards in the pasta. Lots of TV screens for sports, but otherwise not much of a decor or atmosphere.

    I ordered very rare steak and it was done perfectly and was very tender. Always love coming here.

    The Fox and John is my Go-To for excellent food - especially on a holiday. I have special needs regarding substitutions and the staff are always happy to accommodate me in this way. My chicken souvlaki dinner was delicious, as always, and my friend thoroughly enjoyed her turkey dinner. You can't go wrong with the great service, excellent food and tasteful ambiance at The Fox and John restaurant! (Bloor and Runnymede location.) We'll be back!!!
