There was more staff than diners when we arrived, but still did not have very good service…. Which was odd and I was a server for many years. Lots of people walking around, but not checking on customers. It was a frustrating experience.
According to one of the local periodicals, The Fox and Hound was supposed to be open on Christmas. Consequently, I made a reservation for 4. I received an e-mail on Christmas Eve asking me to confirm… which I did.
However, when we showed up at 7:00 on Christmas, The Fox and Hound wasn’t open. We ended up eating at Niki’s Steak and Sushi across the street.
Not a fan of Fox and Hound.
Even after being asked to confirm my reservation earlier in the day, we arrived to find the place closed and a note on the door saying they had no staff. I guess if you treat your customers this way, you probably don't treat your staff well enough to keep them either.
Not good, they cancelled my reservation 20 minutes before. Had a reservation at 5p, and they emailed cancellation at 441p.
My wife and I went in for veteran’s day dinner. The atmosphere was alright, more casual than anything. The food was not too impressive
When we arrived at 5:15, there were only 2 other parties inside the restaurant - none were seated outdoors. We asked to sit outdoors and the hostess asked if we were sure. We found her question odd since it was 70 degrees and sunny. Perhaps it was a sign of things to come.
We were alone at our table for 15 minutes before anyone came for our drink order. We ordered drinks and food at the same time and never saw the waitress again. We sat alone outside without any communication from any staff member for another 45 minutes. Finally, at 6:20, we left and went to another restaurant. It was our first date night in 2 whole years because of Covid and having a toddler at home. We were so looking forward to this dinner and it was such a huge disappointment. We sat for a full hour and didn't have a single thing served to us.
First timers on date night and we had a poor experience at the Wilmington (NC) restaurant. The hostess ignored our request from the OpenTable reservation for a regular table and seated us at a high top in the bar area. Our waitress left us unattended too long -- when the salads finally came out the shredded cheese on top of them was melted (we were also disappointed the server either didn't notice it or didn't care and served it to us anyway). Our gurgers were overcooked and the patties were smaller than you'd expect for a restaurant. We did enjoy the pretzel bites with cheese, and the tater tots, although we wanted onion rings but they were out, on a Saturday night at 5pm no less. Just signs everywhere from start to finish that this place isn't run or managed well, if managed at all. Two thumbs down.
This is a sports bar: noisy, somewhat dirty with lousy greasy food. The service though was fast and courteous. The location is adjacent to a movie theater so I’m sure post- movie business is brisk. We ate the fish and chips. Very greasy with fries that were undercooked. Coke slaw was inedible, almost rancid tasting. House margarita had almost no booze and tasted flat. Floor was littered. Won’t go back.
Business needs life put back in it! Wasn't sure who they were trying attract, feels like business is struggling
Please don’t go there. Ever.
Great food and great service!
It seemed like the servers were more interested in each other than the clients
Service was great, food was okay. We happen to drop in on a trivia night, it was a fun and interactive time.
Was nice atmosphere and meal was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us just enough to make sure we were good. Definitely will go back!
The usual bar food, but good and priced like other restaurants. Reservation on open table worked without incident.
Friendly staff and good service. No hurry to clear us out after we finished. We enjoyed our dinner, dessert, and watched the game.
It was convenient when looking for a guaranteed reservation, the food wasn't spectacular, but if you were there for drinks (51 beers on tap) then it might not matter. The service was not bad.
Great place for a quick bite
Beer selections are average
Consistently the best Fish and Chips around! It was quiet due to COVID restrictions on New Year’s Eve but the food and service was excellent.
Food was delicious. Social distancing was great. Server was ambivalent at best.
Mediocre bar food at best. Interior needs updating, server didn’t seem to pay attention to order specifications. Wings were awful.
Service was amazing and food was great and arrived very quickly.
Great casual place to spend time with friends or family! Excellent service!
Great service!!!! Went for date night and will be returning.
Love the Fox & Hound in Wilmington NC! Great service, super foods and a great gathering place with friends. Sooo nice .. helped two of our friends celebrate their 70th birthdays. Thanks!
Waitress acted as if she didnt want to wait on us. Overpriced food. Won't be back
Place was dirty...under our booth trash; waitress was pleasant but didn’t know much about beer; never asked if we wanted another beer or dessert; just handed us the bill. Food was ok, like Carolina ale house much better for a spirts bar
When we arrived they asked if we wanted standard or highboy seats. We said standard and were told they only had highboy. Why even ask then? They asked if we wanted the back room or bar seating. There was a live singer and the bar was pretty loud so we said back room. They said they was for a private party. Again, why even ask?!? We had to change tables because the first was really really unstable. As expected, the bar was really loud and it was difficult to have a conversation. We ordered crispy Brussels as an app. They were ok, but a bit over done. Hubby ordered the featured Mac and cheese burger, medium, which looked amazing in pictures with lots of creamy Mac and cheese on top. He got a well done, grey crumbly burger with dried out pasta on top that might have looked at cheese once upon a time. We both had fries that were way over cooked. The waitress asked how everything was so we told her. She spoke to the kitchen manager and came back with a coupon for a free app next time. We explained we’re from out of town. She offered nothing so I asked to apply the coupon this time, which they did. Overall, not a place we’d go back to. Everything was over cooked. Unfortunately we had a similar issue of overcooked burgers at another restaurant on the same trip (poor luck for us!!). That restaurant was genuinely apologetic, and comped both meals. Completely unnecessary and unexpected but definitely great customer service. We’d go back there again, given the chance, but we would not go back to Fox and Hound when there are so many other great places to eat.
Wonderful service and decent food. Enjoyable atmosphere for groups. Also has additional seating which seemed quieter than the bar area.
Yall need to add a maybe. I mean 3 people got a salad and 1 got a burger and it took them 45 mins to bring us the food. The waitress was nice but the speed in the kitchen could be better. Overall the food was good.
The food was good and there were a lot o TVs for sports watching , but not at the time we went. The wait staff was very attentive and professional.
The food was decent and we enjoyed the sports bar atmosphere. However, the service was terrible! Our server failed to refill our waters or check in during our meal to see if we needed anything. We’d understand if the place was busy, but it was a quiet night and this lack of service made it difficult for us to truly enjoy our experience.
Good selection of beers and bar food is good. Service is a bit slow.
Our table for 8 was given to another party. I received confirmation text the day before asking to confirm the reservation which I did. They eventually found a place for us out in the overflow part of the restaurant.
I left a lengthy review on Yelp after our visit. I'll try to summarize that here. We greeted the hostess (she did not greet us) and were told the manager did not want to accept our reservation that we had made here on OpenTable but they were going to seat us anyway like it was some sort of favor. We were finally shown to a table that hadn't been bussed. It took 45 minutes to receive water. We placed a beer flight and appetizer order and received neither. They were out of multiple beer choices. The waitress also didn't know which beers could be chosen for a flight. We never got to place an entree order. We finally left. Tables around us stayed dirty for our entire stay. I received a response on Yelp from upper management saying they wanted to make it right. I responded to the email address and that person wasn't the one that read or responded to my review. I had to repeat everything to them. I'm still waiting on some sort of response. There seems to be a lack of professionalism running deep through this restaurant.
Only one cook was working! We had a reservation for 8 people. It was a birthday celebration for me and my grandson. My son, grandson and his friend had to leave before their food arrived to get to a movie across the street! We had waited for an hour. My food was dry and overcooked. Our waitress was nice but the manager was reluctant to reduce the charges, but he did.
Incredibly helpful and friendly. Able to accommodate a very large party easily and quickly!
Not overly impressive.
Well, it is a sports bar so the noise should be expected. Service was good but a little slow. It is in our local neighborhood so we will dine here again.
Typical sports bar but I liked there was a schedule by the host stand of what was going to be playing so there wouldn't be people asking to change channels.
The kettle chips were good (would've been better had they been hot, or even warm, but they were cold). Didn't care for the fried brussels sprouts - too much reduction on the balsamic vinegar making it too sweet. My husband liked his burger and his friend enjoyed the Philly Cheesesteak. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Staff is very nice.
