Wonderful service and really nice ambiance...light music playing...great views... The tables are somewhat close in each room so it can be nosy if other guests dont mind their manners ;-)

Birthday for my son, who’s a grad student. The room was lovely, the waitress helpful and quick. I had the spinach papardelle (spelling?) and Earl Grey chocolate cake. Both terrific.

The dead mums at the front door, though having nothing to do with food or service, probably should have been removed months ago. Not so welcoming. Food was fine. We had to wait a long time for the wine we ordered early. As I say in most posts, I really wish servers would not call my friends and me 'guys' or 'you guyses'. There are so many other ways to address a patron. Katarina was a good server otherwise but she did use that word in excess--

Dining in the ambience of the iconic Fowler Mansion is a memorable experience. Sitting in front of gothic windows which look out onto the manicured lawn and timeless landscaping, transports you back to a time filled with opulence and beauty. The staff makes you feel as if you are very welcome and right at home. Their attitude presents a casual elegance and enriches your dining experience. The food choices are varied and delicious. I would recommend the specialty grilled cheese sandwich, fish and chips and the chocolate mousse (of course I would).

My wife and I went for dinner at the Fowler House and the food was fantastic. It's a shame that we were the only ones dining. Our server was nice, friendly and enthusiastic about the Fowler House itself, which was nice. The music was a rather eclectic selection, ranging from Billy Joel to Frank Sinatra to Country music. Maybe just find some instrumental jazz to play as background music but that's me finding something to complain about. I highly recommend dinner here, the Airline Chicken was the best I've had. 5 stars.

Waitress was not knowledgeable about the brunch menu (which is not a big menu of options) She was confused on what she was doing. Sort of slow. She was nice though. The food was not good. Scrambled eggs were not cooked at all and had to be sent back. Didn’t present quiche with the potatoes that were on the menu listed as an included side. Staff had to find menu to realize they were supposed to be included in the meal. The food was very overpriced for the quality and the quantity.

One of the couples in our party was served the wrong bottle of wine. The wine was brought to the table already uncorked and was poured before either of them saw the label or had a taste. The wine was fine, but the bottle cost considerably more than the one ordered. When that was brought to the attention of the waitress who was new and she spoke to the woman in charge, the woman came out of the kitchen, told the couple they could have three glasses of the wine they ordered and left with the bottle that they had been drinking from. No apology. She then emerged 15 minutes later and presented them with the "wrong bottle" and said they could finish it. Add that lack of graciousness to mediocre food--lumpy grits in the shrimp and grits, which three of us ordered, and a squash dish that cost more than the shrimp dish and was without distinction, and you do not have the makings of a memorable evening. I would say that the grilled romaine salad was excellent, and one member of the party enjoyed his lamb shank. The creme brulee was "original" in flavor and came with a nicely glaceed orange.

I live close by and had looked forward to dining here for a long time. The experience and food were average. The home is beautiful, however, from my observation and even comments overheard, they rely on the beauty of the home to create the atmosphere, which I found disappointing. The woodwork is beautiful, however, I expected to see crisp white linen and colorful Christmas centerpieces. The table cloths were black and the centerpieces appeared to be the standard. This could be spectacular with a little extra attention by someone with an eye for detail. Also, my cup of soup was like gravy, I could stand my spoon up in it. I didn't touch it and no question was asked about why I didn't eat it. Just a little lacking overall, I'm sorry to say.

Interesting place. Had a lamb shank w/ risotto. Lamb was over cooked to the point of being dry and the risotto was so undercooked that it was crunchy. Pork belly appetizer was very good and the highlight of the evening. Wine list was limited and over priced. In spite of good service it’s unlikely I would dine there in the future.

It can be very hard to find a restaurant during a Purdue home football game. Found this by chance. Outstanding. The mansion is awesome. They let us take our drinks and walk around the upstairs. Place is rumored to be haunted. The food was delicious. Gourmet all around. Service was very good.

For the price I’m not sure it was worth it. The truffle fryes were undercooked, so not a great start. I ordered the special it pretty good, the ribeye was slightly over cooked, kind of chewy. The wine was excellent! Our server was fantastic! She was catering to us as well as serving for an entire wedding party in one of the private rooms, you could tell she was overwhelmed but doing her best under the circumstances. I would’ve expected a bit more fine dining training for the servers especially since it was advertised as a “Fine Dining Experience” when I first heard that they were serving dinner in Fowler House Mansion. Not terrible but I would definitely say for the price they need to up the experience a bit! I hope they take a bit more time to train their servers for a fine dining experience and make sure their fryes aren’t undercooked :/

I came to Fowler mansion after reading the great reviews and looking through the pictures online. I brought my girlfriend here thinking of having a nice date but had a completely different experience. Apart from the pleasant hospitality from the restaurant manager and our server, the place was disappointing. I shall begin with the ambiance. The plastic tables covered with black cloths and metal chairs did not complement the beautiful venue - it was saddening to see cheap accents furnishing a historical structure. The 19th-century fireplace was replaced with flashing lights hanging out onto the dining area - so romantic. Moving onto the food. First off, I dissuaded my girlfriend from ordering the pickled platter but she did anyways. That was a complete mistake. The butterfly-shaped crackers were clearly a ritz cracker sale for children which made my eyes gawk when I realized I was paying $20 for this appetizer. We thought the pickled platter would be locally sourced produce with homemade or quality brine but instead, the pickled platter was a collection of sad canned items and odd selections - cantelope and an unidentifiable mooshy brown vegetables(in addition to red onions and cherry tomatoes). We also ordered the charcuterie board which was an off-putting assortment of cheap cheeses at your local Walmart, cut up into tiny triangles, all for the grand price of ~$20. There was certainly not enough cheese to account for this price but at the same time, the cheese tasted so bad that it was best there was less. The cheese was paired with raspberries and blackberries that seemed past their expiration. At this point, it was our own mistake to continue to the dessert course. But to turn it around we ordered the creme brulee. It came with complements of canned whipped cream, stale pecans, and more moldy fruit. The torched sugar topping was too thick to begin with and could cut your mouth. To conclude I would be weary of positive reviews and images before visiting.

We arrived for our reservation on time. Nobody was at the hostess stand so we waited quite a while. Finally someone came out after I tried to track down a hostess by asking waitresses. We asked for an outdoor table. That took about 15 minutes to set it up. We ordered our food. First the waitress came out after taking our order and said they didn’t have any soup left (my 81 year old father ordered soup and salad). Five minutes later, she came out and said that they didn’t have the pasta dish my daughter ordered. We finally received our salads that we ordered. My salad was completely dry, no dressing despite the vinaigrette that was supposed to come with it. Our entrees came out. I would say the quality was very medíocre. I ordered the sea bass. The check came and almost $200 for 4 people. Very expensive for the quality of food and poor service we experienced. Lots of apologies from the waitress throughout the evening but no discount on the bill. It was supposed to be a special dinner for my daughters return to school at Purdue and was a pretty big disappointment.

This is an investment in time. It’s very quiet, the floors are creeky and it smells like an old church. Duh, I guess, it’s an old mansion so that’s what we signed up for. Our server was clearly the rock star of the 2 we saw working, the other only had 2 tables from what we could see and seemed overwhelmed from the get. Our server was pretty good but she was rowing against the tide the entire night, they are definitely not putting her in a position to win. Everything came slowly, they appeared busy, but not slammed. The charcuterie was good, we love cheeses but the meats were the star here. Cowgirl ribeye was very, very good, my wife had the pasta which was OK, son had the chicken which was also very good. We didn’t stay for desert- mainly because well, there’s only so long you can sit in a creepy old mansion, which, once you nose around a little bit, you know is pretty much definitely haunted as all get out. The cocktails are awesome and come delivered by the bartender who is actually pretty quick once he’s given your order. Overall the food is good, the drinks are great, the service is solid if slow and it was not quite the “mansion” experience we expected (maybe we thought it would be a bit fancier? It’s not a “white table cloth” place). Plus for sure ghosts, so there’s that.

This is such a beautiful mansion to enjoy a leisurely lunch. It is especially nice for ladies who want to visit and eat in a beautiful setting. I had a salad and asked for romaine lettuce which they substituted for the greens which I appreciated. The food is not outstanding but good. I love coffee and was not real happy with the coffee, but everyone has different tastes. It seemed pretty strong. Our waitress was very accommodating and very personable. Overall, it was a lovely experience.
