Founding Farmers - Tysons
Excellent food and service.
Big disappointment. What is the big fuss? Is the name‼️Can’t be the food. Bland and basic. Also stay away from the brunch and the Tyson’s loc. Im told DC is better ambiance and food. It was a huge letdown. Won’t return for brunch. Picked over bland mess
Their brunch is amazing! Food is locally sourced and it’s scrumptious. If I could go every weekend I would.
First time having dinner at the restaurant. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated at a very nice table. The ambiance is gorgeous. Onto ordering our food, it was a bit complex. For their pasta menu you didnt really know what kind of sauce went with it. We asked our waitress and she had to ask another waitress for help. So figured first time, no biggie. We ordered our food and it took over 30 minutes, that's when a manager came over and apologized for the mixup and stated will give us a dessert as courtesy. Again still want to try the food and enjoy our anniversary. Food finally came and the pasta dishes were very salty. I was so disappointed that I didnt have the energy to send back and have them make another so I just picked at parts that weren't that distasteful. My husband didnt enjoy his dish neither, his dish was drenched with lemon and oil and had no flavor. We just wanted to pay get the free dessert and leave. All in all it's ok, but don't come with an appetite.
The food at Farmers is always amazing! This was our first trip to the Tysons location and it did not disappoint!
Service was fantastic and the food was amazing! The mixed drinks were amazing. Loved my experience with Founding Farmers, Tysons Corner.
Excellent brunch experience today! Service was A+++ and food was amazing! Especially enjoyed the servers circulating with various appetizers to sample. We will be back.
Fantastic! Thank you, Matt for your review and we look forward to your next visit! :) -Amy
It was great, our server was insightful. Our drinks were good and the food came out in a prompt time. It was my first time at that location and I invited my wife and in laws. They were really impressed about the quality meal and the fact that everything was produced locally and made from scratch. I would highly recommend this place. The line to wait seemed like a long tenure, so I would highly recommend using the Open Table app to get a reservation in advance.
I’ve always enjoyed founding farmers but will not be returning to the Tyson’s location anytime soon. We waited over an hour for food and when we finally were able to flag our server down she apologized for forgetting to put our order in. The manager came over to deliver us corn bread as an apology which didn’t go well. It was nice she wanted to make a gesture but not knowing any dietary restrictions and assuming we would want extra food wasn’t kind in our eyes, a simple apology would have been efficient. Our food finally came out and was delicious but then it took another 30min to track our server down again to pay our check. Customer service isn’t there strong suit at this location.
Excellent as always!
We made a reservation for 8 to celebrate my sons graduation from GMU. I had asked for one of the semi-circle booths on the second level. When we arrived, there were two women at the front hostessing. I asked one of them again for the booth since it was a special occasion. She said “it depends on what time the rest of your party gets here.” We were about 40 minutes early so we went outside and walked around a bit. When we knew the rest of our party was 10 minutes away (literally coming from NJ) we went back in and waited at the front. The second hostess asked me if they were on their way and I said yes they were about 10 minutes out. She said “I’m just going to go ahead and seat you in the booth.” I was SO grateful for that because I really wanted the booth for our family.
I forget our servers name but he was incredible! So friendly, knowledgeable and tended to our every need. He made suggestions that were spot on. Never rushed us and congratulated my son twice.
The food was superb. We had ribeye, salmon, soft shell crab, short ribs, steak enchiladas, and scallops and everyone loved their dish! They also made the perfect Cosmo—not too sweet with just enough lime. Desserts were all good except for maybe the carrot cake. Just tasted kind of weird. Was supposed to have a cream cheese icing but didn’t taste like it at all.
I would highly recommend this place and we plan on going back again soon. We live in Richmond, VA but my son will be living up there so we have a great excuse to go back to FF! Thank you for making this special milestone in our lives a wonderful memory!
Thank you for sharing your kind words and wonderful review with us! We are super happy to have hosted this special occasion and appreciate you celebrating with us! :) -Amy
This was the second week in a row. A little disappointed when the soup (lentil) did not come hot or even lukewarm. Some items are definitely overpriced. I still like the place but hoping they do better the next time and make it like the very first time I went there.
We had a reservation for 7:30 and although it is prime time, we had to wait for half an hour for available seating. We were given an extra large booth and a free appetizer for our troubles, since they couldn't kick the people out, but there were only six of us, the place was loud and we had to yell across the table. The staff was friendly and did all they could, the food was organic but nothing special, chicken and other meats you can find anywhere and the place seems too hyped up and did not meet expectations. Maybe if it wasn't so hyped up it would meet my expectations but I was expecting something original.
The noise was also a problem.
The music in the evening is way too loud. It is so noisy that conversation is possible only by shouting. It seems that the quality of the food has dropped a little.
taster, I am very sorry that the music was too loud for enjoyment and the quality of our food left little to be desired. :( Please know I passed along your review to our Management Team and we will look into this and make some needed corrections. -Amy
Although the noise level is always high, the fod and service are exceptional. Looking forward to our next visit.
Great food and service. Although they are incredibly busy, tables are turned quickly-but without rushing you.
An absolute treat! I blindly made the reservation for a business dinner without asking any local resident if it was good. It was GREAT! We enjoyed it so much, we went back the NEXT evening for another business dinner! I’ve never gone to the same place TWICE in one business trip in over 32 years of my professional career.
OH WOW! We are super flattered and THANK YOU for your wonderful review. :) -Amy
Fantastic brunch spread and great dinner. Prices are reasonable and I highly recommend a reservation.
Hooray! Thank you SO much for your 5-STAR rating and wonderful feedback. :) -Amy
Front desk was very accommodating. Table service was impeccable—happy to have the white napkin switched to a black one upon request. Noise level was very, very loud—a party of 60 people from AMD dined at the same time which contributed to the noise level. Wish that FF provided complimentary bread ahead of dining, though.
Everything was amazing!!! I was so happy and satisfied with the whole night. If u haven’t been here. I would recommend to anyone
Great experience and good food!!
We were there for Mother's Day for dinner. Just had to wait a few minutes to be seated for our reservation. Server was so pleasant and friendly. Food was delicious. We certainly were not rushed--in fact we may have sat a little too long in between dinner and dessert but overall a great experience.
Food was okay, not great, but service was horrible. The receptionist and bar tender cared very little that my mother-in-law have limited mobility. The tables with an ”s” next to the bar stayed open the entire 45 mins we were waiting at the bar. My mother-in-law couldn't get on the bar stools and they wouldn't let us take one of the tables even just temporarily. Couldn't get a normal chair either, just let the old lady with bad a knee suffer on mothers day. No help, no compassion for older people. All about the $$$ in my opinion, we were embarrassed to choose this place to celebrate mother’s day.
Excellent place to treat Mom on Mother's Day. Friendly staff, including valet.
Pretty good Mother’s Day experience.
My party of five was seated within 5 minutes of arrival. We were there for the brunch. The food was excellent except I thought they could’ve done a better job of refilling the food quicker. We had to wait for some of the meats to be refilled. Our waiter wasn’t the most attentive as he didn’t keep our drinks replenished and didn’t check on us as much as we’ve been in the past. But overall it was a great experience.
The openApp was super helpful and convenient, we were seated within 10 minutes after arrival. Our server was amazing! She was very tentative to our needs throughout our dining experience. On the other hand the food was cold. I understand they were on warmers but you could not tell. Which is crazy because the food was good just cold.
We ate here for their Mother’s Day buffet, and it was spectacular! There was a great balance between lunch and breakfast foods and a broad variety. The food quality was high end too. It’s our favorite brunch location!
I always go to the Founding Farmers in Tyson’s Corner with my family. My family from other states always stop by the restaurant when they are in Maryland.
Thank you so much! We are thrilled that you & your family continue to join us and already look forward to your next visit. :) -Amy
This is a great casual restaurant located in beautiful Tyson’s Corner. Perfect for a business lunch or a dinner with friends. The food is simply delicious! Always fresh, cooked and served to precision. Staff is friendly and attentive and the ambiance is welcoming. The spreads are a great way to start and desert a must at the end.
The four of us went for dinner on a Saturday night at 6:30, wanting to experience farm fresh and producer to table food (after having previously visited the DC location). This turned out to be a night when prom goers had chosen the same restaurant, adding to what appeared to be a routinely busy Saturday evening crowd. This impacted our friends' ability to get into the parking garage (they opted to use valet parking to avoid the long line to get into the facility), and the time it took us to be seated (about 15-20 minutes later than our reservation). While the fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits (my order) and the veggie burger (my partner's order) were OK, nothing stood out about our meal. Appetizers were served before appetizer plates arrived.
It might be worthwhile visiting another time, and ordering something different from the menu, to find out if there may be dishes more memorable on a less busy day.
David, we appreciate your feedback and I am so sorry that your evening was somewhat under-whelming. :( Our team will take what you shared publicly & privately into consideration, and of course, we do hope to have you back for another try! That said, please call our team anytime for a reservation- (703) 442-8783. -Amy
The food was amazing as usual and our server was great. However, we originally had reservations at 1100 & had to change, I was assured that changing to 2:15 was fine and we could still participate in the brunch because the food would be out until 3:00. When we got there we were told that wasn’t the case and were forced to order from the regular menu. This was a HUGE disappointment and obviously more expensive. If the person on the phone had been accurate we might have been better informed as to what decision to make. I expected better from Founding Farmers.
Disappointed. We’ve been here several times before. Problem #1: We we’re not seated where we requested. In my OpenTable reservation, I specifically indicated that we had a 1 year old who needed a high chair and that we needed a reservation at a TABLE, not a booth, to accommodate this. I made my reservation over a month in advance. When we got to the restaurant, this request was not accommodated. I know that the young hostess might not know the difference between a high chair and a booster seat, but for a 1 year old who has NEVER sat in a booster seat before, trust me, it’s a big difference.
Problem #2: Buffet? Shame on me for not studying the website in advance, but I didn’t even know this restaurant did buffet. Our relaxing Mother’s Day lunch turned into an anxiety-filled disaster. How does a 1 year old go to a buffet? And since she wasn’t in a high chair, we couldn’t even go to the buffet without switching seats so that an adult was always sitting right next to our kid so she didn’t fall out of the booster seat. Buffet food is not up to the excellence we’re accustomed to at this restaurant. Fried chicken was mouth-parching dry, ham was dry, eggs were cold, biscuits were hard. I could have eaten better at Cracker Barrel.
Problem #3: I asked for a beer list and was brought a beer list. Then the two beers I asked for ended up not being available. I’m over this. I got iced tea.
In summary, this was just not what I expected and I always have such high hopes for this restaurant. I was a dick to the waiter but it’s not his fault, so please apologize to him for me. I left an above average tip so hopefully he realizes I was sorry for being exasperated.
It's one of my favorite restaurants in the whole DMV area. Saturday and Sunday brunches are amazing. :)
Awww! Thank you so much! We appreciate it and hope to have you back for another yummy brunch visit soon. ;) -Amy
Friends have been recommending FF for months, and I'm glad that I finally tried it. My fiance and I very much enjoyed the food and can't wait to go back for another brunch. My only complaints are that our waitress assumed we knew what was going on and ushered us downstairs to the brunch before we had any idea how much it was or that it was buffet style. I didn't even get to look at the menu and determine if I could choose al a carte or if the expensive buffet ($39.99 each) was the only option. My second complaint is that certain foods stayed almost consistently sold out at the buffet, though we checked back regularly (the staff refilled, I think, they were just popular items). To be fair, our waitress did let us know that we should ask her for something if we needed it and it was out at the buffet, but we forgot that until we left. It was also REALLY loud and crowded in there, but I think that's most restaurants on a Saturday morning. Overall, a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back.
I would prefer that your brunch was from a menu not a buffet.
This is my favorite weekend brunch spot!
