Founding Farmers - Tysons
Approximately 30% of the menu includes items inspired by the culinary traditions of Virginia in a modern way. Weekend brunch at Founding Farmers Tysons is BUFFET style, with a wide array of breakfast, lunch, salad, entree, and dessert options.
The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.
Dependable, reasonably priced, filling, fresh tasting food.
Live in Raleigh, NC and always go out of the way when in DC to go to Tyson’s Corner restaurant. It’s next to Galleria with boutique shops which adds to attraction. Founding Farmers’ Apple Pie defines the meaning of being an American!
This is truly a shame. The food was really good. Our food server was good. The hostess station once again was disappointing. My family and I had this same experience at the founding farmers in Dc. Enough that the restaurant sent a gift card to get us to give them another chance.
Today was that second chance. We had a reservation for 2:15, showed up at 2:10, checked in. For 15 minutes parties who came in after us were seated. At 2:30 i went to the hostess station and asked about our table, the host asked who checked you in. She was the one who did so I replied you did, her response was no, no I didn’t. She was the only person with long brown hair and a pale pink sweater.
We were seated about 10 minutes later. Don’t come here even with a reservation if you are hungry or you have plans after.
I would have been fine with a brief apology but she denied even checking us in.
I will not go to founding farmers again. There are just too many other choices with better front of house service
We dined here for Easter brunch. The food was terrible- you could tell the food had been sitting out under warmers etc. for a while. The service was really slow- from coffee refills to clearing of plates. The server also didn't explain how everything worked (some items buffet, some items you had to order etc.).
We came evening of 4/20/19 and Easter afternoon 4/21/19. Both times were great. Spicy fried chicken is delicious. One note on service below:
Having someone come by to do drinks before we meet our server is fine, but don’t have them start off with “Hi my name is ______ and I WON’T be taking care of you but I am here to take your drink order.”
I understand not wanting the diner to think that person is their server, but instead maybe have them say “Hi my name is ______, I’m going to get your drink order and then ______ will be right over to take care of you tonight.”
Loved my dinner and my time here at Founding Farmers 😊 I always come here for special occasions because they actually have good options for my diet preferences (vegetarian/vegan). I’m so happy I came here again, and will definitely be back soon! 🙌🏽
It was great, had a great meal and wine. Service was great too.
This place is amazing!! The dining experience is spectacular. Special thank you to the manager for making my dad 79th birthday awesome
We were there to help a friend celebrate her 50th birthday.
Buffet was awesome! My kids will never get their money’s worth for the buffet wish they had an all la cart option for the kids. The selection was great, the food was outstanding and they kept the buffet stocked all morning. Also there are menu items they waiter can bring for no extra charge: Pancakes, pot-pies, eggs Benedict and some others
Valet parking was only $3! Make a reservation the wait without looked Terrible!!!! Love it and will be back!
We come to Founding Farmers quite occasionally and love the atmosphere. Our server was sweet and answered all of our questions. She placed the order. She forgot the Ginger Drink until the end when it was mentioned. The cornbread took about 20-25 minutes to receive and the dinner even longer (probably more like an additional 20 minutes). The service (compared to the one in DC) is very very slow. D.C. location is always consistently fast and your two other locations (Tysons and Reston) are very inconsistent. Go Figure. I hesitate recommending the Tysons location for this reason. The salmon was great, perfectly prepared as requested, the Prime Rib was requested to be Medium Rare and it was raw in the middle. That's unfortunate. My husband will not order prime rib again. The vegetables were absolutely outstanding. Our friend had the fried chicken which he said was outstanding. If you could just be more consistent.
Extremely overpriced, but I’m quite sure the overhead is mind blowing in that area of Tyson’s. If you evaluate your food with your mouth vs. your eyes (decor) it’s a a ripoff. Wasn’t noticeably better than a Longhorns or even (god forbid) Ruby friggin’ Tuesday’s. Great ambience and good service, but only one of four of us took our leftovers home. I’d take Sweetwater over FF every day of the week AND save money.
I am so sorry, Elliottd that this experience was met with food that failed to really give you bang for your buck. We appreciate that you let us know and of course, hope to have you back for another try! I will send you a PM to hopefully stay in touch. -Amy
Made a reservation and had a surprise guest join us. Host staff and manager were very accommodating. Nice menu, lots of options without so many its overwhelming. Staff was busy but handled it well with a great attitude. The Brie appetizer is awesome. Spicy chicken is a must. Apple pie is huge and super fresh. Staff will validate parking too.
The Crab Louie salad was simply the most delicious dish I have had in a long time. The crab was fresh and sweet. The dressing was tasty. The noise level was a little loud for a worktime conversation at lunch but overall a good experience.
Paid a visit based on very high expectations and recommendations. Ordered the Chicken pie which ended up being cream of chicken soup, runny consistency and literally one piece of chicken. I should have said something, but my parents came to visit from far for my birthday and did not want to make a scene. Maybe my expectations were too high? Service and ambience -cannot fault.
This was our first time eating at Founding Farmers. We enjoyed the dinner very much.
This is one of our favorite restaurants so when my boss came to town it was a no brainer to bring him here. Service and food are always great and I’ve never had a single thing from the menu that I regretted ordering. You can’t go wrong with any of it. Do yourself a favor and ask to sit in Austin’s section when you go. He’s incredibly friendly, he made sure to check on us in a timely manner to see if we needed anything, and his recommendations were spot on.
Overall good. Initially experienced a service issue but was immediately resolved once it was brought to staff attention.
Not sure why reservations are required when you have to wait every time you make them. Also, I know the front reception is busy, but they can make an effort to smile and be a bit more friendly. Two for two on not being welcoming.
Thank you, NickTheBroker for sharing your review with us. I am very sorry that we were delayed with your reservation and that our host staff also failed to provide a warm & welcoming environment. :( We appreciate you taking the time to alert us to our shortcomings this time and our Management Team will surely look into this with our team that worked Sunday. -Amy
We've visited the Tyson's location a few times with subpar service, but this last visit took the cake. Before our order was taken, we had 3 servers visit us, either bringing water (first time was dirty) or coming to tell us our server would be with us shortly. While the appetizers came out relatively quickly, we waited for 30+ minutes (WITH an impatient baby & toddler who both eat table food). Everything after that just dragged, whether it was requesting more ketchup, or the check. We normally order drinks other than water & dessert for the table, but felt like we couldn't. A relatively "quick" meal (we have visited the Reston location with much better service) turned into almost 2.5 hrs & effectively ruined the rest of the nights' plans. This was the straw that broke the camel's back, & we most likely will not return to this location.
Even with reservation, long wait to be seated for Sunday brunch.
I chose to celebrate my birthday at brunch on Sunday, April 14 and it was outstanding! The key is to get there early and pace yourself. There's so many wonderful things to try, you don't want to get full too soon!
It was 6 of us, all ladies. All of us were happy with the service and food. We will definitely be back.
The food was amazing. All of our meals were excellent. It was so good we went back the next night to try 4 new dishes. Highly recommended!
Great meal! The food is delicious and the staff very attentive. You will thoroughly enjoy eating here, I highly recommend this restaurant.
I have been to this place several times. Our waiter was nice but it really took a long time for everything to come. Food was ok. Had better before. Kind of disappointed because I really liked this one place. May be a long time before I decide to go back.
The buffet had a good selection and the service was awesome!
Definitely coming back :)
Food was excellent! Amazing atmosphere! Very very poor service! It felt like the server just doesn’t want to be there.
The food was great but the service was terrible. We were a party of 6 and they sat us at a table where we all had to slide out to let everyone go up for our meal, the waiter was very unhappy that we were in his area. He asked if someone sat us or die ww just sit ourselves. From there he was not happy. We had to ask for water, extra napkins that never came. Overall service was terrible. This was my 2nd visit. The first was 3 weeks ago and I was extremely happy but this visit I was disappointed.
DimetriceJ, I am very sorry to read about the service you encountered during this visit. What you shared is not at all acceptable and I would love to learn more about your feedback. This said, I will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
Service was excellent from the hostesses to our waiter Michael!
I've always loved the franchise but this last visit left me a bit annoyed. Our server was nice but I mentioned several times that my guest and I hadn't seen each other in 10 years and wanted to catch up over dinner. He came back nearly every 4 minutes asking us for our order. To be clear, we ordered 2 apps first, along with a cocktail and a mocktail. We felt pressured to order our meal as he just hovered. My guest and I just randomly picked something to make him go away. Not a great experience honestly. I recognize it was a Friday night and he wanted to turn the table to get more tips, but I probably won't be back.
We had a fabulous experience. Our waiter was attentive and very knowledgeable about dietary restrictions. Food was delicious, and arrived much more quickly than expected.
Fantastic food, friendly atmosphere, highly recommended.
Great meal and wonderful service. I would go back again in a heartbeat.
Food and service were excellent. Dining area was extremely noisy. Parking for lunch was a challenge. Found all Founding Farmers spots on P1 were occupied. Could not find them on level 3.
Mike B was great! The service we received was a great experience!
Excellent service , However cocktail drinks were skimpy! Glass was 3/4 filled with ice. 3 sips and it was gone! Very disappointing as the drink was delicious. Didn’t get my monies worth.
The appetizers were great but the main courses were dry, flavorless, and over cooked. It was surprisingly bc we get these dishes regularly but was very disappointed last night.
The Farmers family of restaurants never dissapoints and the Tysons location is the cream of the crop. I had the turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes and green beans meal and added a Jefferson donut on the side. It was superb.
Yummm! Thank you for sharing your delicious review with us and we hope to have you back soon! :D -Amy
It's a convenient place for a business lunch.
The food is always tasty and reliable.
Thank you so much! We appreciate it and hope to have you back for another luncheon soon. :) -Amy
Our server was not friendly or attentive during our meal. We placed our order and when our food came out half was incorrect leaving people without food because it took another 10-15 minutes for their orders to come out. We weren’t asked if we wanted any boxes to take food to go out plates were just taken unless someone specifically asked him to leave it because they wanted the rest to go. We had to wait another 10 minutes to get our boxes because our waiter disappeared. Overall the experience was awful the server just had an attitude the entire time. I’ve been to this location a few times with friends and never experienced this type of service.
