Founding Farmers - Tysons
Approximately 30% of the menu includes items inspired by the culinary traditions of Virginia in a modern way. Weekend brunch at Founding Farmers Tysons is BUFFET style, with a wide array of breakfast, lunch, salad, entree, and dessert options.
The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.
It was good
Excellent meal and service
Wine / Cocktails a bit pricey
i got my ticket validated inside but still had to pay $12, never had to do that before. i got there at 5:25 and left at 7:15...
Love the lIght, airy, and comfortable atmosphere. Service was great and the food was fantastic.
My husband and I went for breakfast this morning. My husband ordered the FF Breakfast and I had the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs along with their daily donut. Joe, our sever was not friendly and never checked in on us. Once our food came out-over cooked or/or burnt we had to track him down to ask for ketchup and a fresh cup of coffee. Not only was the food over cooked but flavorless. As we asked for our check, Joe then proceeded to as if I still wanted my donut. The over all experience was terrible. We won’t be back to this location.
Have had brunch numerous times here. Sometimes good, sometimes overlooked or flavorless. This was a good day - things tasted well seasoned and not “mushy”. Stations were swiftly replenished too possibly because for the no one realized it was a special Presidents’ Day brunch. Children were free. Nice bonus.
The service was slow. Had to wait several minutes to get water and coffee refilled, Compared to the one in Reston, who has much better service. It took a while to have dirty plates removed. Not many choices of food items. With the money we paid, the food and service don’t match to the price.
Brunch, brunch, brunch....do it. We were previous VA residents and were returning to visit friends. First thing we did was make brunch reservations. Still has quality food and stellar service. Now...let's open one on the West coast.
Love the food and ambiance
Awesome food as always. Wait staff very attentive. Beverage refills were always on time. Never had to ask. Will be back soon!
It was amazing and great service just took awhile to be seated as they was very busy and seemed a bit unprepared.
We had a 7:15 reservation and we still had to wait 20 min for a table! Also it is very loud in there. This was a birthday and we did not get a complimentary dessert! Very disappointed. Also I ordered the spicy chicken which was good, but the grits had no flavor and the greens were very bland!!! I could not eat it at all. The devil eggs were amazing!
Our recent visit to Founding Father’s was excellent! We were celebrating a birthday with our family. We all were very pleased with the food choices and preparation and the exceptional service. It was a lovely experience!!
Server was friendly. The fried food was greasy but the pasta was really dry. Normally we enjoy this chain but this time we were disappointed.
Our server (wish I remembered his name) was excellent. Very attentive and gave the best off the menu whiskey recommendation! Explain the menu well. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Jefferson Donut and was blown away. I rarely finish an entire meal but the steak was cooked just right with a crispy exterior, the mac and cheese was to die for, green beans were solid, and the donut was the perfect touch to the meal.
Did not know brunch was buffet only.
The food and service was great! It's always super loud here, so that does detract from the ambiance a bit. I also feel like their cocktail menu is just kind of "meh." I get using egg whites, but does almost every other cocktail need to include them as an ingredient?
The brunch spread itself was incredible! I am so glad we had a reservation because the wait was over an hour. I think it would have been much more enjoyable if it was less crowded and loud but that is somewhat to be expected on the weekend. Our waiter was likely overwhelmed- he had to be asked 3 times to refill a beverage. But the food was so good it was worth these minor annoyances.
This was my first time at this FF location and the reason was for their brunch buffet. I’ve enjoyed the regular menu at MoCo and DC locations. As a vegan diner, I was disappointed with their lack of vegan/vegetarian selections for the brunch buffet. Suggestion- How about offering oatmeal as a brunch choice instead of just salads? It’s on the regular menu!
One of their four salads had bacon and one appeared to have dairy cheese. The ingredient quality of these salads were basic, lacked color and appeared wilted and not refreshed well enough. There could have been more raw vegetables offered instead of those heated choices soaked in olive oil. How hard is it to offer crudités?
Also, there was only pineapple offered for a seasonal fruit and it wasn’t ripe enough to serve. Other than that there was a charred orange brûlée. Considering the enormous amounts of high calorie desserts served there was only one vegan choice of a weak chia seed pudding combo. There is a fruit salad on the regular menu so how hard is it to offer more raw fruit? Providing whole apples, grapes, bananas, pears even can go along way in a bowl and visually show that you care about the nutrition of the diners especially the children!
Overall, I rate my experience “Fair.” My waiter was good but I did not enjoy spending $32.50 plus a 20% tip for his service for a mediocre vegan lacking buffet meal experience! I will not be returning for their buffet and will seek more considerate restaurants with vegan buffet choices which there are plenty to chose. FF-Tysons, it’s not rocket science to please a vegan just provide more choices!
Great experience as usual!!!
Nice selection of food for everyone to include the items not offered on the buffet. Great service and atmosphere.
I went on a Sunday for brunch. I had a reservation so I didn’t have to wait longer than 5 minutes although others were there longer that didn’t have a reservation. The server was nice but wasn’t very attentive. Although it was buffet style they said they offered passed items. The waiter only came once with the passed items and I didn’t indulge because it was something I didn’t eat. The food was average and I did find hair in my food but didn’t make a big deal because it’s bugfet style and not covered so it could have been another customers hair. What I didn’t like the most was the wait or bought the check before I asked for it which made me feel like I had to rush.
My family visited the Founding Farmers to celebrate our sisters 65th birthday. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the brunch. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious .The hostess and our waitress were great. We had an extra person who showed up at our celebration, and didn’t have a seat, when I went to address the problem with the hostess and our waitress they reacted right away, and fixed the problem in a matter of seconds. The Founding Farmers has Relaxing environment, good food , and the service is absolutely wonderful.
Great food and service!
Classic bread basket is a must-try! Servers were very efficient and helpful in deciding what to order. Fried chicken was tasty and perfectly crispy and seasoned. Even with a reservation, plan to wait a while for a table. Parking is validated so that is a nice plus.
The food was delicious. My only question is when we made the reservation, it asked if we were celebrating anything. I said..yes, a birthday. My server asked the same question. I told her my daughter's birthday. I was assuming they would give us a cupcake or something with a candle in it for a birthday, but nothing was offered or given. I was just wondering why they even asked. Otherwise, everything was great!
Very good food and nice place. If going to sit around and talk not the best place due to being loud and you cant really hear others at your table.
Allow at least to be there 2 hours plus for your meal. Takes a long time to get your meal but worth the wait.
We didn't plan this much time into our plans and were late for a how we were going to see.
Food was great and service was wonderful.
The waiter seemed to be constantly rushing us to order, pay, leave.
James was a fabulous server!!! Gave excellent recommendations and ensured we were well taken care of. Food was excellent. We will definitely return for brunch.
Great place, great food , and we will definitely be going back, very soon
This spot is phenomenal! Their top best dishes would have to be the cornbread, spicy fried chicken & donut, and the CARROT CAKE 😋.
I also ordered the classic deviled eggs, they needed salt but good thereafter. The fries were cut fresh with salt added they were delicious. For my drink I ordered the ‘El Presidente’, this consisted of rum, pineapple, grenadine, and lime I believe. The bartender did an outstanding job because it was the perfect mix!
Fun Fact: Their ice cubes are imported and all made the same size & shape. 🙃
All of their bakery is made from scratch even down to the hand churred ice cream. The carrot cake was simply amazzzzziiiiinnnnggggggg ! It’s served with vanilla ice cream.
I definitely plan to return soon, I’ve heard their brunch is pretty good too!
i might for the buffet brunch our water bottle has floating things in it hard to get attention drinks took almost 20 minutes to get (1 vodka/cranberry 1-glass wine) wine was over priced by the glass 15.00???
crab louie salad was in a bowl with sopping wet lettus at the bottom of the bowl and I asked for no onion no avadcado and both came in my salad!! 2nd time in a row we came and were disappointed
Server was good. Water was served at room temperature.
Should inform customers there is corn in the cornbread. That was unappetizing. The sauces that accompanied the “chips” appetizer were bad to mediocre, two had no flavor. The green beans were bland and flavorless. The pasta in the Mac and cheese was mushy. The spicy chicken was well prepared, the “non” spicy chicken was okay but not above quality and flavor of many fast food brands. The burger was outstanding. Doughnut was nice. The coffee was excellent.
Would not recommend to friends. Would come back to try the buffet. That might be better.
I made a reservation and even then we had to wait an additional 30 minutes to be seated because they accepted way more reservations than they clearly could handle. It was complete chaos in there. The set up for the was terrible. There was no clear indications where the lines started and people were just bumping into each other trying to get through them. The food quality was mediocre. It was cold and some of the food was way to salty. I ordered drinks and it seemed to take forever to get them. I was truly disappointed overall. Not worth what we paid.
Wish I'd known that we could have ordered the eggs benedict, pancakes, pot pie, shrimp etc. BEFORE we went to the buffet. Not knowing about those options and then filling up on other items first kind of tainted the experience. Still it was a nice experience and the staff was very helpful.
We had a great brunch on Saturday. Service was excellent. Gilda was our server and she was always there to provide whatever we needed. Food was delicious.
The Founding Farmers - Tysons brunch never disappoints! Always fresh and tasty. You owe it to yourself to go and treat yourself to a great dining experience.
First time here for the weekend brunch. Food was tasty and the service was even better. My only issue (not a big one) was the location of the buffet being next to the front entrance/waiting area. If seated in upper-rear section of the restaurant the walk back and forth along with sometimes having to squeeze between people waiting to be seated might be a slight hassle. Otherwise, nothing to complain about and would be back.
