Founding Farmers - Tysons
This is the best of the 3'ish Founding Farmers in the DC area. It's always a high quality and delicious meal for a fair price.
Good experience but not without it's flaws. Ordered two lunch entrees. The mashed potatoes were tasty but luke warm. The green beens were essentially raw. The sauce on the Rockfish overpowered the delicate fish, but I simply scraped it off. Chocolate cake and cappuccino were excellent. Too noisy to have a meaningful conversation.
Good place for tasty traditional meals. The three of us had prime rib, pot roast and shrimp and eggplant pasta. All were tasty, and done right. The pot roast was particularly notable - fork tender; the shrimp was somewhat overcooked but the pasta dish was tasty; the prime rib was done as desired and tender. Place was definitely moderately loud and one had to use raised voices to converse.
I can’t say enough great things about Founding Farmers. I have heard great things and they did not disappoint. Very nice atmosphere- greeted with the amazing smell of baked goods. Wow!!!! We got the cornbread and bacon lollies to start and then the spicy chicken with Jefferson donut. All truly outstanding!!
We had a reservation at 630. We arrived early, they said our table was being cleaned. I told the hostess we’d be at the bar. We weren’t seated until almost 7pm. I asked a couple times about our table and was abruptly told they were still cleaning.
Our waitress was not familiar with the gluten free options and seemed put out when I asked about the meals. She was very hard to get ahold of and we had to wait a long time in between drink refills, including water. Our table easily spent $500, Id expect better service for my money.
Hi Todd: Thank you for your ALL STAR 5-STAR review! It is much appreciated and we hope to have you back soon. :) -Amy
This is my favorite restaurant and i brought my family along this time for my bday. Everyone loved the food and the environment!
The food was good and I loved the environment. Would love to go back.
I attended brunch at the RESTON location so I didn’t check the Tyson’s menu. Tysons brunch is buffet and I couldn’t order from the menu. A lot of the food looked picked over and we were seated 20-25 mins after our reservation.
If I got back for brunch, it will be to the Reston location only.
Ended up sitting at the bar, because they removed from the reservation list.
Can I just say that the brunch at Founding Farmers - Tysons was one of the best brunches that my husband and I have had? I took him here yesterday to celebrate his birthday, and wow.....just wow.....Everything we ate was delicious. It was so bad we had to ask our wonderful server, Whitney to take our plates away because we could not stop eating, even though we were so stuffed that we seriously needed a bed at that point. I rate places as highly on food as service, and Whitney was wonderful. She was so sweet, so nice, we loved her. And Noel, another server who would bring around other fabulous food choices was equally as nice, funny and awesome. I am so glad that I brought my husband here for his special day. We have already raved to friends and family about this place, and how we have to all come back. We can't wait. Thank you Founding Farmers. We will be back, definitely! Hats off to the amazing staff, your amazing chefs, and wonderful restaurant.
Food very good
Service really not what it was year or two ago
No one going around with coffee refill that seems for brunch tone a no brainer. You got the bread bacon guys around but no coffee juice milk water guys.
Took long time to get the cocktails
And so long to get the milk and coffee you don’t want it anymore
Service not good
I think We will go elsewhere for brunch
And the price is ridiculous
But the valet parking of Mercedes, stingray, corvette, Tesla, bmw seem to be ok with it not my rav4
I’m taking founding Farmers of the favorites
Not sure if the farmers can afford it or like the service
Hi FRIDAY: Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am so sorry to read the service was not up to par, and overall the brunch left something to be desired. :( We appreciate you letting us know these details, and I would love the chance to follow up. I will send you a personal note with my email address to hopefully connect & make this right. -Amy
Delicious brunch with a wide choice of dishes; great choice for brunch
I missed the part where they only serve the buffet brunch on the weekends. That wasn't a huge problem - I didn't mind being flexible.
The selection at the buffet was excellent, but the biggest problem was the serving temperature of the items. By the time I got back to my table half of the "hot" food was too cold to really appreciate.
The on-request items were nice to have available, and I figured maybe that would be a better route to take... but they also came out lukewarm and got cold quickly. It didn't help that I was not given appropriate cutlery to use - try cutting the english muffin on your eggs benedict with a butter knife sometime. (Spoiler: it's a mess.)
I heard very good things about this place, and I can tell the food is very well made - but the lukewarm serving temperature really made it hard to appreciate that quality. The final straw is the price point. Maybe I'm out of touch with what a good brunch buffet costs, but $33 a person?? Yikes. Maybe if some fancier beverages were included, but still. Not to mention adding parking and tip on top of that...
If I'm going to pay that much for a brunch, I expect much, much better. Sorry guys, I won't be back, and I can't recommend this place at all.
Honestly, I am very disappoint. First I had reservation at 8:00 pm and it took 45 minutes to take us to our table. To noisy and food wasn’t good as usual.
I can’t recommend this place because I don’t want any bad comments from my friends.
Great food, specially the entrees where delicious and plated really nice. Fast service and a well prepared waiter., who recommended us good wine and soda flavors for our kids.
Overall experience was great but we had to wait additional 20 mins from our original reservation. We also were seated at the opposite end from where the brunch food was located so it was a bit annoying to walk the entire restaurant for a plate.
The god tastes awesome. Great items on the menu. The buffet brunch is great, the food wasn’t as warm as I thought it should be, but it was good. Love this place, it’s pricey, but worth it
So tasty and fun. I went with my mom when she was visiting me, and we were both impressed. Their brunch buffet is to die for, and it’s great value price-wise. Highly recommend. Will be dining here again!
Hi AlexG: Thank you so much! We appreciate it and hope to have you & your Mom back soon. :) -Amy
It was our first time at this location for brunch. The server failed to mention all the dishes that cook per order in the kitchen. We saw other tables have the different items from the buffet so I ask the server after she has drop our check she told us she forgot to tell us. So our dining experience was not good.
Loved the brunch buffet.
Awesome food. Great service. Definitely coming back.
Hi NathanR: Many thanks for sharing! We appreciate it and hope to have you back soon. :) -Amy
Food overall looked great, but was mostly mediocre to OK. There was nothing really memorable. Nothing delicious that I would recommend.
Though there is no kids' menu, there are plenty of entrees that kids can enjoy. The service was attentive and professional. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food we got, we actually like the Tysons Corner location better than even the metro DC location. We look forward to eating here whenever we are in the area, and so much so that we come not only for dinner but also for breakfast. Their breakfast is also outstanding, including all the pastries and snacks they have available during the week. I highly recommend this location, even if you have small children. We saw many other families (at a reasonable dinner time) and they were very accommodating.
The food is delicious and so are the drinks! Service is great!
Frank was a great server!
Great location and good food. A short wait, despite the fact that I had reservations. It was a bit noisy during the lunch rush, so hard to hear across the table. I ordered the spicy fried chicken, which came out fairly fast. The problem is the food was luke warm and the chicken a bit over cooked and the greenbeans were under cooked, which was disappointing. I didn't send it back due to time constraints. Despite the issues, the food was tasty and the Jefferson donut was great, so not a total loss.
Solid as always...we count on consistency and FF delivers.
Good location but not good for a business meeting. Did not get seated 10 min past the 12:30 reservation time. Loud
They were able to seat us fairly promptly but with reservations we still had a wait. Service was good but she was spread pretty thin so she had to run around quite a bit. Otherwise everything was really good. Definitely recommend.
Great to be able to have fried green tomatoes. Always enjoy rockfish on a menu.
Hi Yvonne: Hooray! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful 5-STAR ALL STAR review & rating! :) We appreciate it! -Amy
Was not aware that only brunch is served until 2pm. Was going for the regular menu. Food was okay, like regular buffet.
I love the food, the staff is great, the wait for service was a bit long but it was a nice evening out.
Easy location, convenient parking, great baking aromas greeting you at the front door, pleasant receptionist, minimal wait to be seated (yes, we made a 5 pm reservation), terrific waiter named Matthew, and delicious food done just the way we requested! My friend and I were both delighted, look forward to a return visit AND would recommend Founding Farmers to our friends! Great evening! PS Big kudos to our waiter Matthew! He represented your company well!
Went for Brunch and didn’t realize it was buffet style. The food was picked over and only scraps left. Hot food was lukewarm. Our waiter was nonexistent except and we had to flag down other servers to get coffee. First time I have left only a 10% tip, normally do 20-25. Won’t recommend or go back.
The food, service and atmosphere were wonderful. My friends and I will definitely be back for brunch again.
The brunch buffet is fantastic.
I had a reservation and arrived about 40 minutes early because traffic was much lighter than anticipated. I checked in and waited for my reservation time. My time came and went. I was seated almost 30 minutes after my reservation time after watching a couple who did not have a reservation at all get seated. I was told that all of the reservations for 10:30am were seated in the order in which they checked in. I call BS because I was there well before all of them. The staff just forgot to seat us. No apology, no nothing. I was there for the brunch and I did not find it to be worth the cost. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything to write home about either.
We love the brunch! Great food!
