Thanksgiving. We love Founding Farmer’s but, this whole experience was terrible! First, our vanilla sodas had no flavor. We sent them back thinking maybe they were not mixed right. Still not good the second time. We weren’t going to bother with it anymore so we just accepted that they weren’t good. Then each one of us had something different. I had the ham. Completely dried out, my sons chicken was mostly breading, and the turkey was dry as well. Tiny scoop of stuffing and mostly vegetables. Then was over charged for my 11 yr old. Everything that could go wrong did. We’d had enough and chose to just take dessert home. Paid $152 for two adults a kid and still gave a $25 tip even though everything was horrible! Our reservation was at 5:00 pm and we literally left the restaurant at 5:27pm! Beyond disappointed and a total waste of money! Wasn’t going to say anything and just chalk it up. But, now we go to eat the dessert we brought home only to realize they plopped the pecan pie in the container. My son went around asking if someone had eaten his pie. No pride in this meal, and it’s awful because we chose to support this business during covid.
Covid safe meal with delicious food. Never disappoints !
Founding Farmers provide a safe, outdoor table. It was not cold despite the actual temperature outside, but the door was open for airflow, and the service was great. The brunch bufe was served in a safe manner, without compromising the variety or quality of the food. The servers brought new plates and silverware frequently to ensure safety for visiting the bufe. Great job!!
This is my first time having brunch here and it was good.
we used to come here for the $29.99 each brunch every few months. We always looked forward to it as it was worth the money. this is our first time back since they reopened from covid. unfortunately, i know they are doing their best to stay under the protocols but its definitely not the same for $29.99 each brunch. Last time we were here it was pre-lockdown and mask free. was great other than a disgruntled emo waitress who treated us like dirt because she didnt want to work that day or who knows.
this time around our waiter did good. they did keep double doors open to some make shift tent on the side of the restaurant and was cold that morning
my issue is they have the spaced out social distance line for the buffet which is a given but they removed all salads and desserts from the brunch buffet area. u have to ask ur server to bring something from the back which is not what used to be out with the buffet. half the food available and they are still charging $29.99 each. drinks are regular juice, soda or coffee still $4-$5 each
with tip i spent $150 for 3 people for eggs and ham and half the food available. sorry to say we are probably not going to return.
I am so sorry, Robert for the disappointing brunch experience you recently had with us. We are equally let down this visit failed to measure up, and left something to be desired. :( This said, I would love the chance to connect to turn around the poor impression we left you with, and will send you a DM with my contact info. -Amy
I say this with love because Founding Farmers is my favorite restaurant, but there’s been a noticeable decline in quality and portion sizing coupled with an increase in prices which usually is a bad sign and I want you all to be successful and continue forever and ever. Perhaps there are meaningful differences between the Foggy Bottom location and Tysons Corner or perhaps you’ve made pandemic related changes, but I sure hope you take a real close look at this. Here’s the detailed feedback:
- Service - continues to be awesome!
- Drinks - continues to be awesome!
- Water Cups - this seems to be a continuing intermittent issue where the glasses smell funky because they’re not allowed to rinse thoroughly from washing.
- Portions - portion reductions noted in my two absolutely favorite dishes, the cornbread which is now made in a noticeably smaller skillet and the yankee pot roast which had much less meat.
- Prices - prices increases noted generally across the board but particularly in the same two dishes with portion reductions.
- Quality - The cornbread did not come out hot, there was no honey in the honey butter (which was fine because we asked for a side of honey) and the quality of the yankee pot roast was well below typical - not only was the meat quality and taste below standard but the potatoes were watery and I feel like I could’ve made better potatoes with an instant mix at home. Also, the gravy was off as well.
- Other Notes - the Bucatinni was awesome.
You all are my favorite restaurant, and again, I send this with love hoping you make some adjustments as we come to your restaurants for most celebrations or special occasions but as time has passed we are starting to rethink that. Perhaps there’s meaningful variation between restaurants or perhaps these are COVID-19 related changes, though I did not get that impression. To be clear, the ratings herein are generous based on all the above, but I sincerely hope they will change.
Great food, pleasant service, nice place. We will be returning!
Thank you, John! We appreciate it and hope to have you back again soon! :) -Amy
I was disappointed. I will not be returning to this location.
Good as always! The modified brunch set up was better than I originally anticipated. I think when things go back to normal they should continue to bring certain food items to your table instead of getting them at the buffet! Will be back! :)
We enjoyed our brunch at founding farmers, the food was fresh and tasty. Will definitely be back soon.
Excellent service and food as always!
Generally a nice experience with good service. I would like to see more vegan options on the menu. There were no pasta options that didn’t include cream or cheese.
Great restaurant! Outside dining adhered to COVID-19 guidelines. Server was perfect!
I already sent an email.
Thank you, Valerie for reaching out and sending us an email about your experience. I look forward to connecting soon. -Amy
Due to COVID-19, every server wearing the face mask and the restaurant provide hand washing at entrance which explain they do their best to provide the health environment. The foods were still yummy and doughnuts tasted so delicious as always
Founding Farmers has done a great job to provide a wonderful experience to its patrons during these past few months. I have dined indoors here frequently with only accolades to share about their service, their food, and their dedication to the customer. Thank you Founding Farmers for making the experiences these past few months so great.
Great menu, bacon lollis, baby cheeseburgers, shrimp and grits, and trout were all delicious.
Hooray! Thanks Jeremy for sharing this with us! :) We appreciate it and hope to have you back for another great meal soon. -Amy
Sever never checked in after food was served and seemed uninterested. The outside tent had no heat and was freezing. There was no apology from the staff when we mentioned this as we were leaving other than thanks for bringing it to our attention.
Great experience! The food was good, although I sat outdoors the way to the food was rather far.
The experience here is always wonderful. I love the brunch menu. I will be returning with visiting family members.
A bit pricey for brunch. Pancakes are tiny and you have to order them because they’re not in the buffet (they are included though).
We sat in the tent, the heating system was waaaay to hot (we were literally sweating).
Coffee is not included. We ended up paying 100 bucks, for (2) brunch, (2) coffee and tip .
Long story short, there’s better out there for the same price.
Hi Fabio: Thank you for your review and we are real sorry this visit left much to be desired. :( We appreciate you letting us know your feedback about the size of our pancakes- we will surely look into this, as well as the heat within the tent- please know we are always happy to turn the heat down when requested. All this said, we hope to have you back for another try sometime soon and please call us: 703-442-8783 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Great food and service! Went for brunch for first time.
Can’t beat Sunday brunch at founding farmers. Everything was delicious. I’ll be back soon
We had an amazing dinner experience. Tent dining was ok, table was wobbly, but the food and service from Brian made it all worth it!!
Outdoor dining. Staff great, made the best of COVD dining
Founding Farmers delivers again!
My second time at FF in the last 7 days. Both experiences were excellent.
It is amazing how nimble and flexible the management and staff are at FF. With the current pandemic changing the rules of engagement every hour, FF continues to reinvent itself and to deliver a great dining experience to the patrons.
The food was great, and it seemed like they were abiding by CDC guidelines for coronavirus.
Enjoyed brunch, food was great and service was good.
Way too crowded and DID NOT follow precautions for physical distancing. A buffet during this pandemic is a horrible idea. The website should be clear that buffet is the only option and you do not offer a FULL a la carts menu. Will not be returning to this location ever.
Oh no! I am super sorry, Cynthia to read our buffet brunch service was not expected, nor enjoyable. :( We sincerely apologize for any confusion and feel badly you left without dining. By all means, we will take your feedback into account and are hopeful you'll think of us sometime in the future (please know, we do offer a la carte service everyday, except during our weekend brunch service). Thank you so much and have a good week ahead! -Amy
