Founding Farmers - Tysons
Approximately 30% of the menu includes items inspired by the culinary traditions of Virginia in a modern way. Weekend brunch at Founding Farmers Tysons is BUFFET style, with a wide array of breakfast, lunch, salad, entree, and dessert options.
The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.
Really wanted a nice salad. Menu choices were inadequate. Ended up with grilled cheese a couple spoonfuls of watery tomato soup. Definitely disappointed.
Outstanding service, good food, fun ambiance. We were a party of 11 and were accommodated promptly. Great menu selections and the food was really good. appetizers, desserts, entrees, all excellent.
Attended a 50th birthday celebration and the food and service was outstanding.
Food was good. Our server was nice but didn’t clear plates. Noise level was high in the upstairs dining area but quieter down after a while.
As always FF Tysons never disappoints. It's definitely worth the drive from DC. I prefer this location over DC. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite places for brunch.
My wife’s birthday. Do enjoy non-paper infused bloody Mary’s Some spicy is fine but don’t need extra. Also our reservation was 12:30. We arrived at 12:33 but were not seated until after 1
Overall it was ok. For Saint Patrick’s Day it was busy and bustling with energy. To be expected!
Teach the waiter how to pour coffee into the cup and not all over the table. Had it happened once ... simple accident ... the fact it happened four times ... purposeful.
And that it happened with the water also ... enough to leave with a bad experience and for me to second guess that I actually tipped him and shouldn’t have. But then, that impacts everyone else.
So ... Teach Mike how to pour water and coffee for the next guest!
FOOD WAS VERY VERY GREASY
If you have a 830am reservation. many people show up 10 to 15 minutes early. The doors are locked. They don’t start serving un 845. It’s very clumsy And presents disorganization.
After we sat down and had 50% of our meal the waitress came back and said oh yes we have these other special things you could order. One of those things I would have ordered.
Further, this is the second time we’ve had a gift cards problem. they were either empty Of value and we had to prove that there was an amount placed on the card. Fortunately the person that did gave the gift to me was in our party. Next visit we had two gift cards. They would only except one. What difference does it make when you use the amount on the gift cards.
About the value. Without any liquor drinks we had four people for brunch and with a 20% tip The bill was $175. You can determine if that’s a lot for breakfast.
This is a great spot for a private or business event. Very lively and fun atmosphere but did not feel like I still couldn't have a conversation. Plenty of room for bigger parties too. Cocktail menu is awesome with their own pre-prohibition bar. Very talented bartenders too! Been here twice now, once for a business meeting and once for a date. Both were excellent experiences. I will be back again for sure.
4 of us had a good time, but not because of the food. It has gotten rather mediocre. My greens had tough woody stems. Hearth veggies rather sweet, too sweet. The recommended bread app, classic, was completely dull, not warm, sauces tasteless. Apple pie was gigantic, but few apples mostly overly sweet crust. Cocktails so so. Didn’t want another. Steak frites mostly frites. Just not impressive. Too bad, always loved the original in DC.
Love this place! Great service and awesome people!
EXCELLENT brunch. Will definitely be back and also recommending to all my friends as well. Atmosphere was wonderful, food was emblematic of the expectation of excellent from Founding Farmers.
We visit this brunch several times per year for many years since it opened and when we visit DC.
Our experience is always excellent; however this time we were disappointed by the following:
1. The ham and the brisket in the brunch were chewy.
2. The table removed from the middle of the brunch area was always a pleasing display of food and now the brunch looks like many others.
3. We have always been accustomed to the waiter/ waitress coming to the tables with taste testing of different items which didn’t happen this time.
4. The brunch tables seemed not to be as well cared for as it has been in the past.
Not sure if this is the future of this restaurant or an isolated incident.
Amazing food, fantastic drinks and great service with a feel good ambiance! I really enjoyed celebrating my birthday at Founding Farmers!
The drinks were excellent. The waiter was good; checked on us a good amount of times and made great recommendations. The food also came pretty quickly on a busy Friday night. Will return.
Food was great- thought it was a bit overpriced for a casual restaurant in a shopping center.
Overall we were satisfied with the service. We were there 5 mins early but were seated right away.
I had an issue with my meal in that there was something "foreign" in my sandwich. I had to send it back and needless to say, it ruined my appetite. However, the staff took care of the problem and were very professional. I have eaten at FF several times and this is the first time I've had an issue.
I LOVE Founding Farmers Tyson’s! This is by far my favorite place to enjoy delicious food! We were celebrating my birthday and I couldn’t be more happier with the food and experience!
I made a reservation through open table and when I checked in with the hostess I was told there wasn't a reservation so we left.
food was fresh and very good. I would order the chicken Bolognese again. Cocktails were refreshing and overall had a great time.
Was great, even during the lunch rush with an infant! Our server was awesome and didn’t rush us. Great meal, great time!
My chicken was a little dry and not all of it seemed edible - some of it fatty.
Reasonable selection of food/drinks for the gluten free member of our party, good choices for the vegetarian as well. Try the tuna poke, it's excellent.
This our favorite place to eat. The service is always outstanding.
I was pleasantly overwhelmed with a delightful sounding menu option. The server was a big help and gave us wonderful recommendations. Great customer service and hospitality. And mmmmm the desserts!
Early dinner on a Sunday. We had the Kettle Corn (comes in a big bucket/pot). Yum! Then also the cornbread (also wow). The Pot roast was delicious and real "comfort food." The presentation was a bit meh, but the taste was great (the meat fell apart and the vegetables were a terrific soft crunch). I had the campfire trout and it was delicious and a very good size (even took some home). Our guest had steak frites with mashed potatoes (yes, double potatoes) and he loved it. Steak was cooked as requested (medium rare) and was delicious. Again, the presentation was so so (honestly, what can you do with fries AND mashed potatoes), but might have been improved had the fries been on a separate rack or plate (saw hamburgers delivered to other tables with the fries in a basket. That would have been nice). We tried two brown liquor drinks--the whiskey "daquiri" was smoky and different. Tasty. The other was the Farmer John--like a bourbon sidecar. Also delicious. Founding Farmers never disappoints. Go early and miss the crowds.
Food was spectacular and the service was top notch. Great over all experience.
It was an overall good experience, but some of the dishes just did not meet my standards based on the taste. Great options though and I am sure others liked everything.
Not worth $32 for the buffet brunch. Cold dry fried chicken, grits with no shrimp. Would rather come for dinner and order off the menu and have the food made fresh.
I took my GF here for her Birthday. It was the first time for both of us. She said of all the places we have been to, this is her favorite place. The quality of the food made such a difference. We also LOVE your Founding Farmers Hot Tea. Yummm
The buffet was excellent - plenty of variety and all was delicious!
Always love coming here!
Nice place to try. Very loud and hard to converse. Menu was different enough and the vegetarians found something to eat. They honored our request with an out of the way table and we were seated promptly at our reservation time. Sergio was amazing. I liked the touch of asking the women for their orders first. The food took awhile to be delivered but it was correct, hot, and they knew who had ordered what. The parking lot was a pay lot but they validated.
Everything was good but the pasta was a undercooked sad to say. Also, the pot pie was not what we expected but that’s our fault. Overall, the chicken and everything was as expected, yummy!
Everything was fabulous from the cocktail my server recommended to the dessert. My impossible burger was truly impossible. It was a veggie burger that tasted like beef.
The server we had was not the nicest and we had to request another. The manager came over and apologize and provided efforts to make things better such as offering mimosa's and desserts for our birthday guest. I have been here one time prior and would still recommend it to others, I just wish that it had been a better first experience for two of my guest.
The food was outstanding. The buffet had many choices, all fresh, hot, appealing and delicious. The made to order entrees took entirely too long to be served. The wait staff was not very attentive. Drinks were not checked on. The restaurant is very loud, older and hard of hearing patrons may find it difficult to carry in conversation at their tables.
My server, Frank was excellent. He quickly cleared the plates, provided new eating utensils and kept all the water and hot beverages coming. Excellent service, great food and a fine restaurant-eating experience. For sure!
