Founding Farmers - Reston
As a farmer-owned restaurant, almost all of our delicious food and drink – from our freshly baked bread and house-churned butter to our craft cocktails with our proprietary spirits – is made from scratch, using high-quality ingredients from American family farms.
Our First Bake is available weekday mornings for takeaway breakfast and our specialty blend of Compass Coffee. We hope our Reston guests will enjoy all that is Founding Farmers.

Absolutely loved my birthday meal here. Friends have been telling me to come here since I moved from out of state a few months ago and I finally made it in with my parents. We were not disappointed. Menu is a bit overwhelming but I don’t think you can pick wrong. Service was a tad slow but she was really nice and we weren’t in a rush. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to try the brunch!
We attended the brunch. Have been to the restaurant fro dinner and really enjoyed it. However, the brunch food was mostly lunch food. Could order and egg dish but ours was never delivered and we had to re-order. Desserts (especially donuts were excellent), but rest of the food was so-so. Also, at one point the line ran out of the food area into the main restaurant. This felt very uncomfortable and no one around seemed to be hanging the process in the food area.
I’ve been to FF at both their Tyson’s and Potomac locations and the menu in Reston is my favorite.
Nice table, food delicious but not hot enough, service was spotty.
Food was cold. Service was rushed. Drinks arrived with the meal which was cold and fatty.
Had really outstanding service at the Reston Station location of Founding Farmers. The food was exceptionally good as well. We loved the crab and artichoke dip and the fried green tomatoes apps. The sauce with the fried green tomatoes was a tarragon and avocado sauce which was fabulous! Two of us had the chicken pot pie which was probably the best one we have ever eaten and one of us had the Impossible Meatloaf, the vegetarian treat. We all had to try it and nobody could believe how good it was. Will definately order this next time. Really different food and really lovely restaurant.
The food was good and the service friendly, polite and under trained. Drinks were slow in coming but the food arrived in good time. Our table for five was comfortable and the noise level was low enough that we could converse easily. The menu advertises locally sourced, high quality ingredients. The dishes, however, seemed over-engineered and the chef or the marketing department has a fascination with donuts. We stuck to the simpler selections. The burger and grilled patty melt and fries were good, the butternut squash ravioli was very good and the seven cheese macaroni was okay. Prices are moderate, but not as moderate as you might think--even a piece of bread for the table is an extra charge. If you are taking the Metro, it is a convenient and nice place to eat. If you are driving and parking, it is a nightmare of bad signage and confusing directions.
We both ordered a different hamburger and they were outstanding! Very flavorful and filling. My wife had a small salad that was fresh and tasty. I had fries and they were excellent.
The food was lovely, although they need to do a better job replenishing the brunch buffet. Also, they were out of every type of milk except whole. For a restaurant that goes out if its way to proclaim how excellent their dairy products are, it’s unacceptable to be out of most types of milk. The service was substandard. During brunch service, the server at a minimum needs to be checking on coffee refills.
Weekend brunch is pricey but well worth it. So many options and everything tastes great. Something for everyone, including those with a sweet tooth. Also a great selection of cocktails. The valet parking option is nice, especially on a cold day.
The brunch buffet had a wonderful variety so we were able to accommodate both vegetarians and meat eaters in our group. Our actual server was superb, but the server who brought us our check and helped clear the table was surprisingly abrupt and borderline rude, which ended our meal on a low note.
I really like this location. I've been to DC and tyson's and for brunch this is definitely the best spot. The food was incredible. I recommend ordering the florentine Benedict and tuna poke app that you can special order but comes with the brunch.
Arrived for a 7:45 reservation. Had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation to be seated. Food was excellent.
We had reservations for 7:30PM but we were not seated until 8PM. Waitress too a long time to come around to take our order. We ordered some appetizers and our main dish. Appetizers came out however we had no plates. We asked for plates but after about 10 minutes, I got up to get the plates myself. I ordered shrimp and grits...it was okay; I found the same entre to be better at the Tysons location. Our waitress was not attentive what so ever; service could not have been worst. I would not recommend this location.
I love founding farmers Reston and my experience there has always been great.
Food is really good, but timeliness of starters, main course, and delivery needs some improvement.
Food was very good. Drinks delicious. It's open and loud but service is good and I will definitely return.
One of the best meals in Reston. Great and varied menu. The price is a little high, but the same price as other top restaurants in Reston.
Much quieter and more relaxing than the DC location. Tuna bites were delicious and my boyfriend was raving over the devil-ish eggs. For entrees we had the seven cheese mac and the impossible burger which were fine. The whiskey and cornflake affogato was a perfect end...though were sitting next to the bakery and the smells from it ensured no matter what we picked we’d have dessert fomo
I've been three times and the service is just slow. Food is good.
Good doughnut and coffee, but terrible entree. Steak frites came with soggy fries and a fatty chunk of beef. Green beans were hard and tasteless. Server did not offer bread before our food came, so I had to ask another member of staff. The bread came at the same time as our meal! Bread was like Wonder Bread.
Overall, a very mediocre dining experience. And the prices are sky high—too high for the quality of the food. I will not go back!
The waiter Tyler was awesome and always the food was great!
Not happy with appetizer portions, Ordered butternut squash ravioli and it was raw not cooked well and too sweet for my taste.
Really like the decor. The high sided booths help to keep the noise level down. Service is very good and we all enjoyed our dinner. My only complaint is that there aren’t enough reasonably priced wines by the glass. I really object to paying $18 foe a glass of Chardonnay, almost as costly as my entree. I won’t go back for that reason alone.
Very slow service . Asked for bread which came after meal was served
Really great. I have a red meat allergy and had their impossible burger. It was amazing. I actually worried that they brought me a real burger THATS how good it was!
The food is standard for this place-good flavor and nice servings. The problem here is with the wait staff. We came in for lunch and waited 30 minutes for our food. The manager ended up bringing the food and was very apologetic. Ok so we decide to order the cheesecake for dessert. Fabulous! But only after waiting 15 more minutes and having to call the manager over AGAIN!! He acknowledged the delay and comp’ed the dessert. Last straw-valet. Waited 20 minutes for the guy and he was the only one there. He was so overwhelmed we ended up waking to the garage to get our own car!!! Use the garage.
Food was good. Service was a bit slow. Every time we eat there it seems like the service should be better considering the prices.
Everything was delicious and everyone loved their food. Their menu was huge and had lots of vegetarian choices- we have to go back because there were too many things we wanted to try!!
The other locations are way better! The set-up for brunch is stupid. You wait in a very long line and then when you get up there all the food is gone. I've loved brunch in DC and Tyson's, I would never come to this location again!
We first tried to go for brunch on a Sunday. I was not aware that the only option was a $36 buffet, which was disappointing. Came back in the afternoon and our time there was nice. Good food, friendly staff. A little pricey.
I love Impossible Burgers at Founding Farmers. (Other places that have IB's on the menu, not so much. Gotta get them at Founding Farmers.) I came in craving an Impossible Burger, but at the last minute decided to order the Impossible Meatloaf instead. I should have stuck to the original plan. The "Meat"loaf would have tasted great, except it was loaded with salt. Honestly, I could barely taste anything else. Our server was kind enough to ask the kitchen remake it without the sauce in an effort to cut down on the saltiness, but that helped only a little. Please reduce the amount of salt in this dish. Customers can always ADD salt, but it's hard to take it away if there's too much. Thanks -- I'll be back for a regular IB soon.
We were celebrating a birthday and looking forward to a fun and relaxing evening. 2 of our entrees were unacceptable- the meatloaf had raw sections and the scallop grits were barely warm. They brought me another plate of scallops and it was the same thing. The waitress was so bad- she rushed over to our table, continued talking as she walked away, looked stressed out and wasn’t nice at all. The manager comped our entrees which was very nice. It wasn’t a relaxing evening, very disappointing.
Arrived early for Sat dinner and were seated soon afterwards. Very enjoyable meal with seating in the upper tier area. Food was quite good. Staff got quite busy as the dinner rush was taking place, but service was still good. It took sometime to receive dessert.
Really great food, service, and ambience.
Great overall will go back
Service is way too slow. It took 3 hours for a table of 4 to get in, eat, and get out.
The legend of Jasmine continues to grow among family and friends. I continue to enjoy the smile on people's faces when I bring them for the first time.
We enjoyed our Sunday brunch. Our guests were(4 on my family and 3 guests) impressed by the variery of food selection in the buffet.
Our server was attentive and helpful. She's always around when we needed her.
Wonderful place. I went with my beautiful girlfriend for our 1 year anniversary. I look forward to many more there. Thank you for a great night. Delicious food and great service.
