Founding Farmers - Reston
As a farmer-owned restaurant, almost all of our delicious food and drink – from our freshly baked bread and house-churned butter to our craft cocktails with our proprietary spirits – is made from scratch, using high-quality ingredients from American family farms.
Our First Bake is available weekday mornings for takeaway breakfast and our specialty blend of Compass Coffee. We hope our Reston guests will enjoy all that is Founding Farmers.
Went for Sunday brunch. Pretty pricey.
I was really disappointed with brunch. The food was cold, they did not do a great job of keeping buffet items stocked & while the menu says that they have passed items, we had to ask before we ever saw anything. For the price of the brunch, I expect way better.
The food is great and the service is great, but by no means should a buffet brunch cost $32.50 per person. $25? Sure. $32.50 and it included a mimosa? Sure. That price puts this brunch in the luxury brunch bracket, and although it was a good experienceI’m not
We went to FF for brunch to celebrate a birthday. Food was excellent with plenty of choices for everyone and service was excellent as usual. You can also have your parking ticket validated if you park there, so that’s a plus.
I would recommend as all other experiences have been very good. This time the food was cold and seem to be pre-made or standing for a long period of time. My huband and friends were 1st timers and they would not recommend coming back. I understand the restaurant was very busy and they did there best to help us.
I find it annoying when you show up on time and then are directed to the bar to wait for a table to clear. I also did not like it when the bar was basically surrounded by folks eating their dinner at the bar vice just having drinks at it. I don't like reaching over and/or disturbing someone while they eat... We still like the restaurant and will go there again. The food and wait staff are great.
First visit on recommendation of friend. Chicken wings starter were very good and it seemed to be promising, however the herb encrusted steak was very ordinary, with little in the way of herb crust. Although I did ask for medium rare, the thickest portion of the steak were actually almost completely uncooked. The baked potato dry and uninspiring. The spicy shrimp pasta was lacking any level of spice and again was uninspiring.
Food was great for the most part fried chicken looked overdone server forgot donut-server also forgot birthdays which I told her in the middle of dinner-oh well
We went to the Reston founding Farmers on a Saturday night at 5:00 with four adults and one toddler. We wanted a great meal and a relaxed atmosphere. It was spot-on! Great food, great service, and a relaxed atmosphere.
We had the garlic knots and wings as the appetizers, and we felt like that was the food option we got. Our actual entrees ranged from the "spicy" fried chicken, brisket, and ravioli. Everything was really bland, and not very exciting. We then had the coffee and decided to opt out of the dessert, as the donuts were out in the open and looked super dry. The ambiance was nice and location is convenient, but probably won't go again.
The food wasn’t hot on the buffet. There also typically is a method of keeping the food warm however the food was not warm and instead was cold with the exception of the chicken and the jambalaya rice. I was disappointed with the selection and the food presentation. It didn’t feel like a typical Farmers experience.
Tasty brunch. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent.
Eduardo was excellent for his first time serving us I appreciate the fact that he wasn't taking the back by the dry humor of my coworkers I loved the fact that the food seem to be plentiful at the stations it didn't look like at any moment that you were going to run low or run out I thoroughly enjoyed the music that was playing them and it was always good to see the dynamic three the trinity play sad to hear that it was Christine's last day at that location tree in the Reston station location is second to none the famous shrimp and bacon lolis will be on deck
It’s a splurge but the food is great!! Come hungry and enjoy some unique foods as well as some standard brunch favorites.
Great food and great service!
Excellent service and food was amazing! I would definitely visit again and tell my friends about it too.
Kimberly was great. She was very attentive to our needs. One minor issue was some of our food was colder than others so easy fix but could have been better.
Reason I didn’t give 5’s is that even with a reservation we had to wait 30 plus min for a table. Food and server were very good. Didn’t have dessert we wanted.
A very good dinner as always at founding farmers. Food was good, servers were pleasant and helpful and attentive as usual. Just a nice Valentine’s Day dinner where my wife and I could focus on each other and not worry about anything
Went on Valentine’s Day and although the service was great, the overall experience was not. We were put in a back room that appeared to be for families with small children. Since my husband and I had our 20 year old with us, and we’d made our reservations weeks before hand, I was disappointed with the ambiance.
Also, my food was not what I expected. The scallops I ordered (a higher priced item) were small and had little flavor, and there were only four around a mound of rice. The rice was delicious, but the scallops less so. The deep dish chocolate pie was a grainy crumbly layer at the bottom, with a cheesecake-type texture in the middle and a mousse texture on the top layer. After trying to like all of it for a few bites, I ended up just eating the top layer and calling it done. My family was celebrating a few things, so I did not ruin the night by calling attention to these issues. But I’m not sure I’d book it again.
I have a great time whenever i go to Fourning Farmers in Reston, or even other locations for that matter
Food was okay, service was very slow and awkward. I have had the same meal better (replaced side when they were out without asking and main was overcooked) at different locations in the area. Disappointing Valentine's Day lunch.
Birthday was great
Beauroful restaurant, good service and good food, if only a bit pricey.
Great food and service, everyone was very kind and helpful.
Wonderful service. The food was delicious, I’ve never had better. Will visit again.
Excellent service! Knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.
I sat at an empty bar that had four bartenders between for over 10 minutes before one of them asked me what I wanted. I had even waved down a menu but no one came back to see what I wanted. The food was okay. Not nearly the level of the DC or Tyson’s locations. And the staff was pushy in shooting us out even though you weren’t closing for two hours. It was the first and last time I’ll be dining at this location.
My experience at Founding Founders was excellent! The food was excellent, the servers were courteous, and the general ambiance was very welcoming. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is dining out for a special occasion!
The server was excellent. The food was good but the breakfast buffet was overpriced. They didn't have any bacon!
Had the weekend brunch. The food was fine. Not spectacular as I had been lead to believe. Overall the experience was not worth the bother. Parking garage and confusing path to the place got us off to a bad start. Had a reservation for 5 people. Arrived on time. Was finally seated 20 minutes late at a booth for 4 with a chair uncomfortably stuck in a small thruway with staff carrying food overhead. Tea and hot chocolate were ordered and not delivered until we had finished eating our first plate from the buffet. Hot chocolate was cold. Tea was terrible. Weird taste and a cloudy look like a cheap mix. 3 of us got it and hated it. Buffet is set up in a faraway back room in an unappealing way. They served chili but had no bowls and had to ask 3 people before any were brought out. It didn’t seem like they were very experienced at managing a buffet. And if you are gluten free be prepared to be somewhat disappointed. Nothing is labeled for allergens. There’s no gf menu. You have to find and ask the one staff person in the room with the info to recite the gf options while you stand there awkwardly listening, trying to remember, and blocking the line. This is just not very professional. There was a lot I couldn’t eat but there seemed to be a fair number of gf options but the process was so flawed it’s pretty risky to try to eat gf there. Also there were no gf desserts except strawberry or chocolate ice cream. What am I, 12? For the price they should have had something else among the many desserts. Totally unsatisfactory in that regard. Also, no bacon!!!! At a brunch buffet. That’s just wrong. And they ran out of brisket which was the next best meat. So the 4 of us who weren’t gf had their own disappointments. Honestly none of the 5 of us are likely to go back.
This place is beyond Food heaven! and let's not talk about the Bread pudding, it is worth dieing for!!!!!
I would not recommend the brunch buffet. The buffet selection wasn't great. The only fruit choices were chopped pineapple or broiled grapefruit. The only seafood choice was artichoke crab dip. They had a few slices of gray brisket out on the buffet and the noise level was startling. Other choices were fried chicken and meatloaf.
We were very disappointed that this time they weren’t walking around with trays of deviled eggs, and the bacon lollipops. We asked our server Chris about them and he said he would bring us fried shrimp instead but he never did.
Early valentine celebration
Our Server never told us about the brunch passed items until nearly the end of our meal after we asked about it. Otherwise she was fine
Great brunch with family
Great service and food!
Our bacon Lollies were over cooked and fried green tomatoes were cold. The main entrees were okay. Overall I feel like the food can be a little inconsistent.
