Founding Farmers - Reston
As a farmer-owned restaurant, almost all of our delicious food and drink – from our freshly baked bread and house-churned butter to our craft cocktails with our proprietary spirits – is made from scratch, using high-quality ingredients from American family farms.
Our First Bake is available weekday mornings for takeaway breakfast and our specialty blend of Compass Coffee. We hope our Reston guests will enjoy all that is Founding Farmers.

I have been to this restaurant about three times and this was by far the worst. We were there celebrating my son’s birthday. He ordered the chicken fried steak and the waiter said it was not available. He and my husband placed orders for prime rib and NY strip, respectively. About 10 mins later the waiter came back and told us neither of their choices were available. So on a Sunday evening, three entrees were not available. And one being their signature item. Disappointed!
One entree was cold and had to repeatedly remind our waiter about ordered drinks and food that did not arrive. Restaurant did nothing for a birthday even though it was on the reservation and the checkin team noted it.
The low volume on the background music was welcomed. Gave us a chance to hear ourselves talk. Leona was a good solid server. Food was nice.
Family of 5 attending brunch to celebrate Dad’s birthday. Food and service was good. We all enjoyed the experience and will be back again in the very near future. Founding Farmers has made the short list of restaurants we like!
My new GO-TO place for Brunch. Many options - all yummy!
I don't love a buffet. Wouldn't have booked the brunch if I would have realized it was a buffet. The food was not real hot, had to wait on the eggs and potatoes, and the lines were rather long.
I will try it one more time for a regular meal, no buffet and I think I will like it better.
Founding Farmers has the best brunch ever!!!!! We love coming to this place and we make a point to grab Sunday brunch once per month at Founding Farmers. I swear everything on the buffet item is food heaven!
Server was incompetent, and looked like he was 16 years old. One out of 6 entree’s was 18 minutes late. One side that accompanied an ‘on time’ entree was 14 minutes late. Fried chicken was dry, lobster salad was very small, steak was the wrong temperature (over cooked), root vegetables that accompanied steak were charred beyond recognition. Potpie was comparable to a Swanson frozen entree...basically, our experience was not a one, with out of town family in tow.
Major, Major Bummer
Great place! Server was exceptional! And food was very good!
Fun place to go with friends for dinner. Lots of food options for variety of palettes and preferences. Have been at this location and others (DC, Tysons) and in general, the food is consistently pretty good. In my most recent visit, however, my sweet potatoes were unevenly cooked - some under-cooked, others were fine. But the scallops were cooked perfectly. Also, I have yet to go to a FF with everything on the menu be available, whether it is a special entree or dessert. Generally, okay since there are so many options, but I generally have 1 to 2 backups in case something is unavailable.
Our food was cold, though very flavorful. Didnt realize untul we were.almost done that both dishes were cold or we woyld have sent them back.
Repeat visit for weekend brunch. A bit disappointed that favorite grilled salmon too sooo long to replenish on buffet. Staff brought a plate to table but might’ve enjoyed more. Later brunch hour which might have been the problem. Chris was a very gracious server.
I've bee in other FF restaurants and found this one the nicest of all. It's too noisy and the service was slow. The double burger was amazing though. The small walking area in front of the restaurant is so nice.
Amazing comfort food. Great service. The Reston restaurant has a bigger menu than the other locations we’ve been to. Absolutely delicious!
The Reston restaurant is not as good as Tysons. I have been to this location numerous times and EVERY time the food is barely warm when it reaches the table. The kitchen is upstairs in this location. Not sure if it takes too long to get back to the table or what. I’m giving up on this location. Rather go to Jackson’s or Not Your Average Joes.
Overall we were quite satisfied with our experience. The service was a little slow but everything arrived correctly and warm. The food was all tasty and, for the most part, was priced appropriately. The restaurant decor is very appealing. My only complaint is that the spaghetti squash pomodoro, which is not an expensive meal to make, was served in a tiny portion, particularly when compared to the other dishes our guests ordered. I went away hungry.
The food is always good but we didn't have such good service this time. Our server was very nice but she forgot our appetizer. At least the manager gave it to us for free which was appreciated
The food is good but the kitchen can't keep up. Delivery of food is random and slow. Waited over an hour on two different visits. To bad because the food is good but not worth the poor food delivery.
Took clients to dinner and they raved about their meals, spicy chicken and chicken caccaitore. The desserts were also a hit, carrot cake and ice cream cone sampler. We totally appreciated the concept, the menu options, the service and staff, and of course the food.
Skylar is amazing!!!!!!! Thank you!!
First time having brunch here at the Reston location and it was great.
Special occasion was not acknowledged in anyway. Server was good and responsive to needs and wants as well as other staff. Had to send my meal back as the lamb was over cooked. (Sever didn’t ask wellness preference.). It was to well done to bite through. The veggies were mushy and unseasoned. The potatoes were cold. Appetizer was ok. Was a dip - didn’t have enough bread. Coffee type martini was tasty. Ordered prime rib as a replacement. Was served quickly and veggies and potatoes were warm. My husbands anjous was gelatinous they brought another. Apple pie with ice cream was served cold which was strange. They heated it up upon request. All in all it was very disappointing. Perhaps they have kinks to be worked out in the kitchen. Ambience was nice. I would recommend for drinks and appetizers but wouldn’t go back until they worked out their process better.
The food was great but expensive. Our waiter acted like he couldn’t care less about us and responded to questions with as few words as possible.
Today was a slower day for Founding Farmers, it seemed like so their brunch buffet was much slower in bringing out fresh refills than they normally are when they are busy. Overall though, we were still very satisfied with the food and service. It was quieter than usual as well.
So much love and good food. It felt like a family reunion from the valet to the bakery. Very welcoming environment.
Baby shower brunch. So good!
Usually Founding Farmers in Reston is amazing, but on this particular occasion the service was terrible. It took 20 minutes just for the server to return to take our order and then another 40+ minutes for the appetizer food to arrive. Overall from arriving and being promptly sat to leaving (we left as soon as we finished) it was 2 .5 hours.
The food was amazing as always.
Server was amazing!!!!
We had to remind our server of a few things more than once. The food (especially the fried chicken) was over breaded and over salty. Not at all similar in taste to the DC or Tyson’s one. Wasn’t worth the cost.
Great food, fantastic service! Went for a family members birthday and everything was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed their dinner and our waiter though very busy made sure we were all taken care of.
The wait staff here are the best ambassadors for the back of the house. I always choose Founding Famers first. Last night I took two clients in for dinner. Stone was a great server, he was a confident communicator for the glacially slow service we experienced. The Hostess was a bit overwhelmed and she was not seasoned professionally enough to keep it to herself. I chose to meet my clients at the door rather than allow her to interact with them. Water was at the table becasue I was seated before they arrived. The drink order was delievred 20 minutes after we ordered them, and there was unnecessary debate about ice being an ingredient in the handmade soda and it could not be altered. We were left with the impression the bar staff or management is somewhat megalmanacal about ice levels in handcrafted sodas. Next to the appetizer, another 30 minutes from order to table. Again Stone did a great job justifying the slow service. We order dinner, it arrived in a timely manner. The food is a constantly noteworthy and is one reason I always review FF. Dessert a devil food doughnut with a scoop of ice cream 32 minutes from order to table. I understand the circumsatnces outside the restaurant last night, and the long wait times did not stop me from going back the next day for lunch. That was in part because of Servers Semma and Stone. Please use this review as a teachable moment and continued success.
restaurant was slammed due to circumstances beyond their control. they still served up amazing food w/great attitude. the steamed cod was a delicious surprise.
Great food and great drinks.
There was so much hype about this place, so we opted to celebrate our anniversary here instead of our usual romantic spot. Not the best decision we’ve made.
FF is probably good for group dinners or socials, but I wouldn’t recommend it for special/romantic occasions.
Small wait even though we had a reservation, table was awesome, food great
We came to Founding Farmers for their weekend brunch. When you arrive they explain that it is a self-serve brunch. The food was good but I did not feel the price was worth it. Very pricey, per person, and drinks are not included. I probably wouldn’t go back for brunch for the price.
Great service. An omelet station would have been nice...
Food was excellent as has always been the case with Founding Farmers restaurants. This location opened in April and they are still working out some issues with service. My server was good, but a bit overwhelmed by the number of tables he was working and the kitchen did not have a requested item. Management apologized for this. Overall a pleasant evening with good food.
Great ... except music is a little too loud for bigger groups.
