Overcooked Turkey…no popcorn…inconsistent service. Not a good meal for the money.
We have to wait more than half and an hour for food. We checked in 7:10pm and we got food 8:45pm. Does that make sense even though it was Father’s Day?
It was Father’s Day, so we expected crowds. Unfortunately, the restaurant did not. The food was at its usual standards, but it took us 75 min to get our food after ordering. The waitress could’ve been more informative to let us know what was going on. We ended up over-tipping her because the table next to us walked out on their bill after receiving drinks and were tired of waiting for their food. We felt bad for her
One of our first forays back to in-person dining, and was pretty much a disaster from the beginning. Seated outside at our request, was very relaxed and well- spaced. Downhill from there. Took about 10 min to see our server. No real attention to detail on the menu or drinks. We ordered 2 of their signature drinks, and 2 appetizers to start. Drinks came out and 1 appetizer was delivered. We were told by the server bringing the food out (not our waiter) that no mussels were available. Drinks were terrible. Cape codder tasted like vodka mixed with dishwater. Would have entertained sending back but no waiter in sight so we didn’t. Tuna bites were delicious. After 15 min our waiter shows up and takes our dinner order, states “we are working some things out” even though we didn’t complain at this point. No offer to replace the appetizer or add some bread or maybe a salad. Now the wait - we waited over 1 hour for the food. We were in no hurry but we felt bad for 2 tables close to us that had young children, clearly unhappy about the wait. Food comes out. My dish is the scallops muniere, smallest 4 scallops I have ever been served at a restaurant, with risotto that was clearly overdone sitting under a lamp for a while. It was…crispy. Farmer’s platter was ok, pretty much as it was billed. We asked for the check. Of course our mussels we never got were on the check…another wait. We paid and left, after about 2.5 hours. Want to like this place, but now our 2nd time with the same issues we had both times. We won’t be back a third time.
Father’s Day dinner. Took order 30 minutes to get bread and apps on the table. 2 of 5 orders were wrong for dinner and half the desserts weren’t available (we had a 5:30 reservation). Everything was fine, but nothing was as good as the things I had heard never been to a FF before. Will give it one more shot was wasn’t impressed.
Our dinner was absolutely magnificent — my wife had the prime rib, I had the scallops with parmesan risotto, and both were flawlessly prepared! This was our first dining-in experience with Founding Farmers — we've previously had one of their off-the-charts holiday takeout meals — but it definitely won't be the last!
We went there for Father’s Day. So many items weren’t available when we went and when we did everyone took everything. Example is the pancakes and French Toast. Salads were soggy and warm. Not enough to make the price worth it. Service was good but a bit frustrating not being able to have salt and pepper. Especially for the eggs. Sorry will not be returning
Food was average- not that great
We ordered pancakes from the menu and it took forever- they were very thin and flat like something was missing from the mix The syrup is like water The manager said that’s their restaurant recipe- they should offer an option it was brown water
The service was slow
The scenery outside was nice
Probably won’t join for brunch anymore
But regular service is probably fine
I got a last minute reservation on Father's Day. Unaware that it was a Sunday brunch menu and more than satisfied with the offerings. This was by far the best brunch I've ever had. All the items were expertly prepared, presented and replenished. Our server Jack was wonderful from the moment we sat down. He explained how the brunch service worked from the stations, to the items that were by order only. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the location and menu offerings are just a few things that made him stand out. There is a reason why Founding Farmers continues to have my repeat business and the rave reviews from other diners. Go and see for yourself. My only regret is not taking photos of the delicious food.
Great of families and kids. Service was great!!!!!
The food was delicious, but the wait staff was unbelievably rude. I had to ask repeatedly for drinks to be brought, or for plates for appetizers. When one of the waiters brought the ladder, he literally dropped a stack of four plates in front of my date and left. Our primary waiter kept pestering us to pay the bill and leave.
I spent $160 here last night. I don't care how good the food is, I I am unlikely to return. Beware.

I went here for my birthday and it was definitely not a great dining experience. The food was very bland and the quality did not match the price of the food at all. I ordered the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and it had no flavor or seasoning. For my entree I got the new york strip and asked for it to be cooked medium. When I received my steak and cut into it, it was redish purple, not pink. My friend got the poke salad and said it was just okay. We both got drinks and they were just okay as well. My friend asked the waitress if they could possibly do any special type of shot to celebrate my birthday and she said they didn’t have the ingredients to make what my friend had asked for. That is understandable, but the waitress didn’t suggest anything that they could make for us, she just told us what they couldn’t make. We just said okay and moved on. Overall the service was decent, but I definitely would never return to this restaurant based off of the food alone.
Food brought out quickly. Food was delicious. Drinks are a little pricey. Service was excellent. It was quite noisy. Not good for ambience.
I thought it was very good but pricey for what you get. Menu is very creative - especially the cocktails. I didn't appreciate the 5% covid surcharge....come on; we are all paying the price.
Oh no! I'm SO sorry to read this and feel terrible our team failed to offer to remove our restaurant recovery charge from your bill! :( By all means, I would love to make this right and help refund this for you! This said, please email me: Amy@FRG.Farm with a copy of your review, your contact number, date & location dined and last 4 # of the CC used. Thank you and I really hope we can turn around the outcome to your review & experience! -Amy
Cedar plank Salmon is spectacular and so are those root vegetables.
Food was great. Service not so much. Mentioned it to the host stand, and a manager who was there. They basically were like, oh sorry to hear that, have a great day.
Hi NovaFoodie: Thank you for your review and I am very sorry the service missed the mark this time. :( I'd appreciate the chance to follow up and turn around the poor impression we left you with- please email me: Amy@FRG.Farm with a copy of your review, date dined + location. -Amy
Nice brunch for Father’s Day
Thank you so much! We are thrilled you enjoyed your brunch visit and appreciate you celebrating with us! :) -Amy
Food was great! Service was slow as they are currently short staffed. Though, management was great with pitching in and coming around to tables to check in & apologize for the delay.
Aww! Lori, we really appreciate your kind patience and understanding while we are working very hard to get back to being fully staffed. Of course, we are still so sorry we kept you waiting at times and I would love to turn this part of your feedback around! Please email me: Amy@FRG.Farm with a copy of your review, date dined & location to connect further. -Amy
It was good but not great. They have a back of the house communication problem. Getting food served hot
Perfect date night on patio with band playing! Great service.
Father’s Day with a party of 6.. good flow of Tapas and drinks
The quality of food wasn’t as good as before and not enough staffing.
We love Founding Farmers in general but the server was not good. The host up front was very good at his job. He communicated with us and we got a table outside in a very comfortable location. Our server was pretty uninspired to work our table. I’m not sure what her other tables were like. She couldn’t explain the food and seem not to really care. After we placed our order, the appetizers came out, which were good but so did my side of vegetables. Why? I would think, this would come with the food. She didn’t even notice so I had cold veggies which I didn’t like. The entrees came out together and my husband loved his meal. I hated the jambalaya with spicy chicken. She didn’t ask about my meal, just asked if she could bring me a box. I clearly hadn’t eaten much of it. Did I mention, I had to go to the counter and look at my own dessert. She suggested I do this because it was later. The dessert counter person was cool. She told me to tell my server what I ordered so she could put it on the tab. Of course my server looked confused after I came back to the table and communicated this. She put the dessert on our ticket but looked annoyed she had to do such. Did I mention, I suggested dessert and was never asked if we wanted to order it.
Normally, Founding Farmers has the great service we expect but this experience fell short.
Thank you, Kenshejoe for your review and sharing these details with our team. I am so sorry our team failed to deliver this time, and your main meal was far from enjoyable. This said, I'd love to connect and find a way to make this right! Please email me: Amy@FRG.Farm with a copy of your review, date dined & location. We appreciate it and I look forward to being in touch! -Amy
I like Founding Farmers, because I am a Southern Fried Chicken junky...I love good fried chicken. Founding Farmers has some of the best fried chicken anywhere. I usually go to the Tysons Corner restaurant, but it was booked. So I tried this new location at Reston Station. It was very busy but I was able to reserve a table and they seated us right up front as soon as we arrived. While they were very busy, service was great! Drinks were great and the food was great. I would highly recommend Founding Farmers to any serious foody and gourmand. and if I didn't mention it, try the Fried Chicken!
Very nice server
My beer order was out and by the time they asked for a substitute it was entree time
30 minutes I get a beer is a bit much
Prime rib says after 5p ... I was told after 5p on weekends only
I don’t recall seeing the day restriction on the menu... just time
Thank you for your review. I am very sorry the beer took some time to make it's way to you, and the Prime Rib was not available during your visit. :( I will surely look into the wrong information you were given (either on our menu or provided by our team), and would love to connect further about your feedback in hopes to make this right- please email me: Amy@FRG.Farm with a copy of your review, date dined & location. -Amy
Food was subpar. My cracker crusted shrimp were fishy and the coleslaw had absolutely zero flavor. My boyfriends meal was also underwhelming. Ambiance outside was great and service was good. Will probably stick with their other locations, which haven’t disappointed.
Bummer. :( We are so sorry the main meals both you and your boyfriend ordered were not up to par. I would love the chance to turn around the dissatisfaction you left with, and ask you to please email me: Amy@FRG.Farm with a copy of your review, date dined and location. Thank you!! -Amy
Food and drinks were awesome as usual and our server, Matt, was great. Super friendly, just the right amount of attentiveness, and quick to replace a cocktail when it didn't arrive as ordered. Always a fantastic time here!
It was our 2nd time there so we brought the whole family for an early Father’s Day (10 people) everyone loved the food. Crab cakes absolutely amazing. Very consistent, great staff. Thank You.
Shrimp dinner tasted “fishy” not fresh.
Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the hype. We were underwhelmed by the lack of seasoning of multiple dishes and subpar service.
Food was good, only issue we had was with our waitress. It took her 10 minutes to greet us and didn’t really explain how the brunch worked. She was also rude when we had an issue with our tab.
Oh no! I'm so sorry our service missed the mark this time. :( I'd appreciate the chance to make this right and ask you to please email me: Amy@FRG.Farm with a copy of your review, date dined & location. Thank you and I hope to be in touch soon! -Amy
We went for brunch which we didn't realize was buffet only. Not really buffet - the salads and some food were on a table - no sneezeguard, no measures of food safety or sanitation of any kind - it was in a small, ugly room with very sticky floors, (literally I could feel and hear multiple sticky spots) did not offer traditional bacon or eggs, no omelets, no eggs benedict, very poor choices of very average food. The "buffet room" was such an awful turn-off. Such a small room with no safety measure just out of full precautions for Covid. Didn't feel safe or inviting food-wise under any conditions. We had invited a young newly engaged couple who are very dear to us so that we could hear about the wedding plans and the server had no suggestions or ideas of how to help make it special or celebrate. I had only been here once before and I would never return and would not recommend it. I have since read reviews that suggest that I am not alone in this very unfavorable impression.
Thank you for your brunch review and I am very sorry your overall experience missed the mark this time. :( I'd appreciate the chance to follow up and turn around the poor impression you unfortnatley left with- please email me: Amy@FRG.Farm with a copy of your review, date dined & location. -Amy
The food serving service consistently takes much longer than what should be the norm
We had a lovely time celebrating our daughter’s graduation. Yummy food and drinks! Will definitely visit, again!
Great service, convenient location, great selection of drinks and meals.
Food was excellent though came slowly - drinks and appetizer took very long. Primary waiter was very busy. Passed our table at least 3 times with empty iced tea glass sitting at edge of table. Had to ask him for a refill.
The staff was courteous and prompt. Kayla our server had the best personality and got everything perfect.
The outdoor area was spacious within a plaza surrounded by office buildings. The screen with beach videos across the plaza is a nice touch to the ambiance. The service at this time is a little shaky but they try hard to cover for each other. (It will probably get better as we get into summer.) Nevertheless their brunch food is the best. I enjoyed their vegetable scramble and especially their double espresso. They have many other wonderful selections for brunch too. Having ordered fir delivery many times I know that almost every thing they offer on their menu is great. Can’t say that about a lot of other places. I plan to return.
When ordering a cheeseburger the waiter should ask if you want catchup/mustard etc. before leaving the table for 10 minutes.
