Founding Farmers - Reston
Absolutely loved our server, she was so polite and outgoing.
Tyler was very kind and provided great service. The food was good but hard to come by. The eggs were very runny looking and when I brought it to the cooks attention, he started "splainin" to me that it was the heavy cream in the eggs, like it was my first time coming here. Very crowded and extremely busy. Seems like they would do better to add another day for the brunch. Worked before.
Went of Sunday brunch. We couldn't order off the menu and had to eat at the buffet. IMHO the the buffet choices were far below the $32 price tag. I don't think we'll be going back for brunch again.
The eggs were good as was the fruit crumble. The fried chicken was dry, the "warm" salmon was cold, there was no bacon, no bread. Everything was very carb heavy.
brunch was very over priced for what they served. We were expecting much more.
Hi RacerX12: Thank you for your review. I am very sorry to read that our buffet brunch left something to be desired, and really failed to give you true bang for your buck. :/ Our Culinary Team will take into consideration what you shared and will look into adding more options to our brunch selection. We do hope to have you back for another try and please call us at: 703-988-7333 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Great ambiance, good drinks, good food with a few standouts. It’s in my neighborhood and I really want to love this place. But there are always details wrong, particularly with service. Food showing up without silverware and nobody notices. Wildly variable timing- appetizers out within 3 minutes of ordering but drinks showing up well after. Things that would be easily excused in a restaurant with lower price points and less ambition in other respects. They should poach whoever looks after service at Great American restaurants.
Good food nice place. Brunch is outstanding.
Hi RichH: Thank you for sharing your wonderful review with us! We appreciate it and hope to have you back for another great brunch visit soon. :) -Amy
Service was very slow. After being seated, we waited at least 10 minutes before the server acknowledged us.
Founding Farmers Reston was a decent choice for dinner. The best things were the food and valet parking right in front for $3. The service was slow but courteous, the ambience was suburban chain chic, but way too loud. The restaurant employees have been trained to present the restaurant as upscale, which yields some attitude. The biggest weakness is the price, which is way to high for what you get. I walked out feeing a little used.
Overall the experience was pretty good. Food was tasty but our waitress was no where to be found most of the night which slowed the ordering process drastically. To be fair, when she was available she was courteous and professional. Could have just been a hectic evening.
A little scene-y for me. And the wait person kept coming over every 2 mins?!? RELAX really.....
The restaurant was a pleasure from the time we walked in till we left. Good food , good service. Great atmosphere. The only negative was that the bar does not have all the mixers it should have. I realize that the theme is fresh natural foods but the bar should have ginger ale for drinks.
First visit and definitely not our last. Service was excellent and so was the food. I had a bad experience at DC location so this was a very pleasant surprise. It is also nice to be able to have a conversation without yelling. They also validate parking and have valet parking.
Hi Maggie: Thank you for sharing your review with us. We are really happy to have redeemed ourselves with this visit! :) Your 5-STAR rating is much appreciated and we already hope to have you back for visit #2. -Amy
We were seated right away. Our server was very knowledgeable and funny. The food was delicious although we were overwhelmed by all the wonderful choices! But you can’t go wrong; it’s all delicious.
Hi Katherine: Thank you for sharing your wonderful review with us! We appreciate it and hope to have you back soon. :) -Amy
Good food, good service and really good location close to the Washington Metro.
Overall the food was good, service a little slow. Ambience had always been good, definitely worth going back.
In general, Founding Farmers is normally a great experience. This was not the case at the Reston location. Service was extremely poor (no drink refills, waiting for long periods of time, no dessert menu offered, etc.), the vegetables on the plate were cold, the steak over-salted, and an overall poor experience. Based on this most recent experience, I will not be returning and I do not recommend eating here.
We ate at several of the Reston Area restaurants. This was by far the best food/service/ambiance experience.
Excellent service as always! WE will continue to come to this location. The staff are super friendly. If anything is wrong, they make sure to rectify things immediately. Keep up the awesome work!
This place was incredible! I went on a first date & it was perfect! The ambiance was sexy, the menu was diverse, and the food was amazing! The service was fast & friendly! I will definitely be back!!
We have been to many Founding Farmers and to the Reston location several times and this time was the worst. The bread was cold and old. Apparently, they make it at the Tyson’s location and bring it over to Reston. No wonder it was cold and unappetizing. My wife have some chips with her meal that were stale. I had the brisket plate which had some reheated pieces of meat that were supposedly brisket and the cole slaw tasted like it had soap in it.
Needless to say we probably won’t be back to the Reston location. It’s too bad because we like the ambiance.
First time here for dinner. Never disappointed. The food was delicious from fried chicken to pasta.
Steak was tough. Frites were soggy. Green vegetables were the dregs. Salad was ok. While the food was not bad enough to send back, neither was it what a $30+ lunch should be.
Hi Faustoro: Oh gosh! I am very sorry to read that your meal was truly far from enjoyable, and we dropped the ball with the preparation of your order. :( With this acknowledged, I would love to touch base and will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
I would recommend Founding farmers as I have had several good meals there. Service is always good. However, the last two visits, the food was overcooked and dry for all the guest attending. Management did quickly step up to address the issue and comped the last meal but you really don't want to eat a lousy meal just to get it free.
Hi bizdiner: Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I am so sorry that the last 2 visits were not up to par food wise. :( We appreciate you letting us know, and our Culinary Team has been made aware of your review. We will take into account what you shared and hope to have you back for another try soon! I will send you a PM with my email address to keep in touch. -Amy
Ordered cornbread as an appetizer. They feature the type of salt in the description for good reason- it's LOADED with salt. I had the chicken pot pie as the entrée. Very few pieces of chicken with undercooked peas, all for $18. I sent an email to the restaurant, no response. I will not return.
Hi CHRISTINAW: Thank you for your review. Again, I am so sorry the Chicken Pot Pie was lacking in preparation, and the Cornbread too salty to be enjoyed. I am also saddened to read you added there was no response on our side in your review. :( Your email sent on 9.05 was replied to the next day, and I offered a refund for your Chicken Pot Pie. That said, I appreciate your response with the needed information to have you refund processed and hope you'll give us another try in the future! -Amy
Our Server, Sean, was excellent and made some great recommendations. Our meal was relaxed and delicious.
Try the Fisherman's Stew, amazing! I'll be craving a return trip very soon I'm sure.
Food quality was excellent- menu enticing and exceptional
Food was excellent, my wife and I enjoyed it immensely. Keep up the good work!
Our experience was terrible! Food was dried out and unappealing. This location is very poorly managed and does not come close to the other locations. Sunday Brunch was pitiful with crowded aisles and long lines only to see empty food trays. This place is the WORST in the Nova area! It needs complete new management and a staff that is energized. I will not recommend to anyone.
Hi Doug: Oh no. I am SO SO Sorry to read that your brunch experience was considered terrible. :( We appreciate you letting us know, and I would love the chance to touch base. I will send you a PM with my email address in hopes to continue this conversation. -Amy
Brittney delivered a great experience. The food was fantastic. It was good seeing Christine, Noelia, and meeting Jacob
We have eaten at several Founding Farmer restaurants in the DC
area and today we went again for brunch. Sad to say, the quality has cratered. The food, even special orders, was not hot. Standard fare for a brunch, like bacon, not available. Finally, the pass-arounds, which are special treats like “bacon-On a stick” was only seem 1 time in 1.5 hours (in the past many more things would be circulating over the same timing). Very disappointing.
Excellent as always! The bacon lollis are the bomb
We had a 7:30 reservation and we were seated relatively quickly. Our server was attentive and was training a new server who was very friendly as well. My wife ordered the prime rib meal and that is where things got strained. The cut of meat was barely warm when it arrived. My wife asked me to double check it and I confirmed that it was in fact cool almost cold to the touch. We asked the server to take it back and warm it up and she said she would. What happened next was unexpected, the floor manager told the server that the prime rib was already prepared and that was as warm as a medium rare cut was going to get. My wife does food service prep and she knows that meat has to be kept at a certain temperature while it is waiting to be served. Instead of bringing her the warmed up piece they offered her the ribeye. Not wanting to argue she accepted. It was not the same as the Prime Rib. In the long run the manager comped both pieces of meat but they could have avoided the whole issue by just heating up the original Prime Rib. The food prices are reasonable but the bar menu is overpriced for both the beer selection and the individual drink selection. I am willing to give them another try but this experience left me with some concerns.
Severely undercooked chicken fried steak. Pink.
Great food and overall ambience. Loved the vibe, service and menu. Drinks were great also and will come back again when back in town.
The waiter was very slow. Our appetizer arrived with our main meal. My food was cold and so was the chai latte that was served. Also our drinks arrived when we were almost finished with our meal.
The location in Tyson’s Corner was much better. Stay away from this Reston location.
Three diners. All extremely pleased. The steamed cod soup was unbelievable. I could eat it every day. My fellow diners enjoyed their ferro bowl and ahi tuna meals. The Moroccan tea on the dessert menu is a treat too—-silver tea setting! The decor of the restaurant is worth a trip Even if the food weren’t so spectacular!
Such a great experience! Great food, great service, great ambience to help make the second date as good as the first.
Excellent service with great quality sourced ingredients and recipes.

Great dinner while meeting to discuss business.
