Founding Farmers - Reston
As a farmer-owned restaurant, almost all of our delicious food and drink – from our freshly baked bread and house-churned butter to our craft cocktails with our proprietary spirits – is made from scratch, using high-quality ingredients from American family farms.
Our First Bake is available weekday mornings for takeaway breakfast and our specialty blend of Compass Coffee. We hope our Reston guests will enjoy all that is Founding Farmers.
Great Restaurant week options!
Great food we all enjoy -
Waiter was very patient with our children -
Restaurant week lunch was a great success. Food and service were good...and portions very generous. In fact, some took get a free dessert at a later time coupons as well as our doggie bags. Thanks!
We went for restaurant week and I believe they had to put the entire order in at the same time which meant one of our appetizers arrived after lunch and the other appetizer arrived with lunch. I’m old school and like my appetizers first. The food was really great thought!
Restaurant not easy to get to but first time at this location. Very cold and drafty from ceiling where the three of us were seated. We were moved a few tables over. Better but still needed to keep coats on throughout meal. Legs and feet still very chilly and I'm not a person who gets cold easily. Btw, three other parties seated and moved from our area. Food was tasty. Famous donuts were not impressive. Path to restrooms was treacherous and not well planned for this new restuarant. You need to walk around and behind bar - busy path for servers getting ice and drinks and there was water on floor all over. Toilet areas in ladies room very dark. Best part of our lunch was our wonderful server, George. He was efficient and friendly and helpful.
We came with our family to celebrate our son’s birthday. We ordered the cheddar biscuits and avacodo toast as appetizers. Then we ordered some drinks including wine, beer, strawberry soda, and iced tea. Then we ordered our entrees. We ordered the fish on special, the salmon, the spicy fried chicken, the farmers combination and the impossible burger and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. We really enjoyed our meal.
Service was excellent. Food was delicious, though my least favorite was the fried green tomatoes.
Our experience at the Reston Founding Farmers was delightful! Couldn’t have been better. Love the cornbread!
My daughter and I had a wonderful meal and time together the other night at your Reston location. Our waitress (wish I could remember her name) was absolutely fabulous!! She was busy but didn't rush us or put any pressure on us to order. She made fabulous suggestions for the 2 of us and we had a fantastic evening! We will be back for sure!
Hi abskelly: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We hope to have you and your daughter back again soon. :) -Amy
Took a long time to be waited on after seating. Manager very apologetic and comped dessert. Food and drinks were very good.
Recently visited FF tysons and the service was less than stellar. Reston location was awesome.
We took advantage of Restaurant Week to try Reston's branch of Founding Farmers which is actually the closest for us. Our server was excellent - she was knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. Their restaurant week menu was generous. We tried their bacon "lolls" and corn bread for appetizers and for our entree: southern fried chicken and the beef pot roast. All of it was very enjoyable. The restaurant space was inviting and the validated parking was convenient. We will be back.
Loved in the past - this visit a disappointment. Food only so-so, service tepid.
Hi Miki: Oh no. I am real sorry we let you down this time with "so-so" food and "tepid" service. :( I would love the chance to follow up and learn more about your visit, as well as make this right! That said, I will send you a personal msg with my email address. -Amy
Noelia was attentive, charming, and engaging. She took care of all our request before we made em. The food was great. Missed alot of the regulars but many of the new people were very nice
Hi ChristopherE: Thank you for your kind review and 5-STAR rating. :) We appreciate it and hope to have you back soon. -Amy
Sunday breakfast/ brunch buffet is awesome, but really lacks fresh fruit choices.
Good food but I’ll pass on the “bro waiter” - who clearly was not focused on the tables he was supposed to be waiting on.
Service was slow. Food came out cold. Validation for parking did not work. Dressing for salad never came. Maple syrup for waffles came out when food was done. Donuts were not fresh or warm. Very disappointed.
Skyler and the team crushed it as usual. New pasta is amazing. New biscuits are out of this world.
Hi Kenny: Thank you so much! We really appreciate your awesome review and look forward to your return. :) -Amy
Food was okay but no more. Serving coffee or grits without a spoon? No other restaurant would do so - but FF consistently misses the mark in terms of small service details. Frustrating, because I really want to like the place and the outstanding locations.
Amazing food and wines, so delicious and creative, nothing close to mundane. Interior design makes the place both cozy and invigorating. Service was also beyond of expectations - highly attentive, friendly, and thoughtful staff.
Hi TatsianaS: Thank you so much! We appreciate your wonderful review and hope to have you back soon. :) -Amy
Multiple things were wrong with our meals: including a member of our party with a cilantro allergy asked specifically for the salad to not have cilantro in it.
It did. It was communicated to the kitchen, and it was not our waiters fault.
A cauliflower steak was nothing but a head of cauliflower slightly cooked and grilled (not a steak at all, which one would assume is the middle cut of the cauliflower and not the head. It was $18 and way overpriced.
Another member of our party had to send back his tuna because there were banana peppers in the dish and there was no mention of anything spicy on the menu ingredients.
The waiter tried to rebuttal that the restaurants philosophy was such that not everything in the dish is mentioned because its ever changing. And thats why they ask if there are any allergies or preferences when ordering meals.
It seemed like a really backwards way of ordering food. The tried and true method of telling the customer exactly what is in the dish and letting the customer make an informed decision has worked for millions of other restaurants from fast food joints to fine dining establishments. It seems counter productive for a customer to list any food allergy or dislike they can think of while ordering a meal. No one would ever think there would have been banana peppers in a tuna steak with risotto. How is one supposed to order in this restaurant?
The last large guffaw was when two members of our party had to send back cold mocha lattes that had just come to us.
We asked to speak to the manager and they gave us a $25 gift card for the next time.
A clever way of making sure we would return.
Its a corporate run restaurant masquerading as a farm to table establishment. There isn’t enough quality control when you don’t stick to the exact same ingredients on the menu.
Next time we have a large family dinner out, we will skip on this establishment.
We had a good dinner. I had the risotto and shrimp and crab. It was outstanding. However I would say the shrimp were a little overdone. I would order for just the risotto and crab meat regardless of the shrimp. My son had the chicken jambalaya. It was essential chicken on rice with a salad. Good. But not a typical jambalaya. Everyone had some variation with the fried chicken. But everyone agreed that my dish of risotto and crab meat was the winner. Fun place with great drinks
Hi Missychrissy: Thank you for your wonderful review! :) We really appreciate it and hope to have you & your family back for another outstanding dinner. Please call us anytime for a reservation: 703-988-7333. -Amy
We had a reservation on 1/1/2020 to celebrate New Year and 2 BIG birthdays. There were 10 of us. They sat us at our reservation time promptly but we had to wait 20 minutes for a server. Once the orders were taken, we had to wait at least 30 mins for the food. The food came out cold and drinks were not refilled. Very unhappy and not likely going back.
Hi jenniferl: I am SUPER sorry for the disappointments that took place during your celebratory experience on NY Day! I sincerely apologize for the slow service, cold food and drinks that were not refilled. :( That said, I would love the chance to touch base and hopefully turn this around. I will send you a PM with my email address to continue this conversation. -Amy
I’ve been to this location multiple times
In this instant, service was very slow. We had not received our food for over an hour after we arrived
Food was ok - Not to the level we had experienced previously
New Year’s Eve! Such a great time, will definitely return :)
Great service and food tonight.
Actually it would depend who I came with. Not enough healthy options to bring my Vegan friends.
Most of your entrees are unhealthy and many are too spicy for my taste. Would like to see some new selections and a list of sides to order.
Everything was fine as far as the food (served quickly, came at the appropriate temperature, etc.) but why did we have to ask for salt and pepper. Why is it not on the tables already. Also, my husband ordered hot tea. They bring the pot and the cup and saucer but again, we had to ask for sugar and a spoon. Then the spoon that was finally offered was not a teaspoon but a big dessert spoon. It seems trivial and wasn’t a huge deal, but it just seems silly that these little details are not attended to.
This was our first time at this location and we enjoyed it more than the Tysons and Georgetown locations. The first thing we noticed was that even though it was New Year's eve and there were a lot of people, it was pretty quiet. We appreciate the fact that it is more spacious and you don't feel cramped. There were people sitting right next to us and we could not hear their conversations as in the other restaurants. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Great service, the food was very good and there is a good variety to please everyone in your party.
Our server, Jordan, was fantastic! The manager was attentive. Great NYE dinner!
Food was just ok, sat at the bar and the other two bartenders ( other than ours) constantly clowning around with each other- very distracting and disappointing
Our waiter, William was awful
Drinks ordered upon arrival and came 45 minutes later abut 2 minutes before our meal
A chardonney was recommended but out of stock. It was added to our receipt even though we never received it
It was a birthday occasion, yet the only recognition was the words “happy birthday”
The kitchen did a great job, food was good.
Great food. Buffett price was really high. It makes sense, but we don’t eat enough to justify the cost.
Excellent brunch. Great southern food.
6 of us came for Sunday Brunch and it was amazing! One person in the party was vegetarian and I’m gluten-free but all found lots of choices and everything was so so good!!
Pre-Made chai with regular milk ... always get almond milk at Tyson’s Corner.. was a downer for spouse... downhill from there .. will not return
From the time me and my family walked in being greeted by the hostess, to our server being very attentive and personal able the service was great and then the great selection and tastiness of the food! I’m definitely going back and I’d recommend it to everyone.
Hi Mugs: Hooray!! We really appreciate your wonderful review and hope to have you & your family back again soon. :) -Amy
Had a great time taking my wife, daughter and son in law
Hi MarkG: Thank you so much! We are happy your family's visit went so well and hope to have you all back soon. :) -Amy
Fantastic and consistently great, as usual. Our table of 9. Enjoyed everything at brunch on a Saturday. Eggs Benedict was outstanding!
