As a farmer-owned restaurant, almost all of our delicious food and drink – from our freshly baked bread and house-churned butter to our craft cocktails with our proprietary spirits – is made from scratch, using high-quality ingredients from American family farms.
Our First Bake is available weekday mornings for takeaway breakfast and our specialty blend of Compass Coffee. We hope our Reston guests will enjoy all that is Founding Farmers.
The food was good but the service was excellent. We appreciate our kind and patient waiter and manager for ensuring we had everything we needed. Dining with small children can be stressful, but they did everything possible to ensure the kids had what they needed and I am very thankful.

I have never had a bad meal or service. The menu is eclectic and savory filled with comfort dishes, craft beer and in house distilled spirits!
If the fire department brings the ladder truck into the plaza, then be prepared to wait to pick-up or drop-off for valet. Happened twice during our two hour stay
The location was convenient because of the metro stop. Our service was very slow even though it was a Monday night. That caused the night to drag on and negatively impact this review. We ordered the seafood risotto, seafood pasta, steak salad. The drinks were really good but that was the slowest part of our evening.

Even though this is the first time that I’ve been to the Founding Farmers restaurant in Reston. I’ve been a fan of FF for years. So my expectations were extremely high. Rachel, our waitress was awesome. My date loved the seasonal scratch soda, blood orange. I wish I had ordered it for her and took all the credit. The salmon was next level good. So you may be wondering, why the 4 stars? The chicken was dry, my mac and cheese was cold, and the collard greens were over cooked. When it comes to dining out, when I get this bad of a meal, rarely do I say anything. I just won’t return. But I’d like to think it was the chef having an off night.
It took 30 minutes to find out the bar was out of the whiskey I asked for, another 15 to get the revised order. More bartenders are required due to the size of the restaurant.

I organized a business dinner at FF and received great service and enjoyed the food. So I thought it would be a great place for my Valentine's/Birthday dinner with my fiancee. I had high hopes that it would be a wonderful night, but it was bad. I made reservations and they seated us quickly; however, when we got to the table the booth seats were covered with crumbs. Our waitress took 10mins to arrive and couldn't tell us details about the menu. She left to ask the kitchen for details, 20 minutes later she passed our table to greet a new table and when she got to our table she greeted us like we were new customers. I asked about the menu questions and she said sorry she forgot because she slipped in the kitchen and hurt her knee. However, she was walking just fine. Afterwards, we received subpar service after that with little interaction with us. I am sad because the food is very good.

My friends and I really enjoyed ourselves. The ambience was great. Really wish there was a brunch buffet like Tyson's location but otherwise good
I made a reservation here for my mom’s birthday. We arrived 15mins before the reservation (arrived at 11a for an 11:15a reservation) and the hostess confirmed that we were there to celebrate a birthday. She proceeded to ask that we give her a moment to get us checked in and our table should be ready in just a moment. Mind you, the restaurant was not very packed. By 11:20a, we noticed that people were just walking in and being seated right away. My husband checked with the hostess to see why we were still waiting and she tells him she forgot to check us in. The ambiance was very nice and we were excited to eat! Our server comes to take our order. We asked to have the Mini Farmer’s donuts for our starter and the waiter proceeded to tell us they were out of donuts, even though we were sitting next to the bakery and watching the baker make the donuts. He went to check, and told us that those donuts were for a private party and that they didn’t have anymore to give out to other guests. We understood and continued to order our meals. As we were finishing our food we noticed that another waiter came and picked up a single order of the Mini donuts and took it to another table, that was NOT included with the private party. After receiving our food, our server NEVER returned to ask us if we needed anything else. Never refilled our water or asked if we needed anything else to drink, instead, the next time we saw him was when he brought the check. We paid for our bill and asked him why there was no acknowledgement of our birthday guest at all. He apologized and said he’d take care of it and would be right back. It was more than 20mins and he NEVER came back. At this point, I was so disappointment with the service that we left. I am a loyal customer of the other area locations (DC, Tyson’s) but this Reston location does not hold up the Founding Farmers standard in customer service. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND and I will not be returning.
Wayyyy overpriced. Cold plate under my $14 omelette of spinach and mushrooms and cheese. and NOTHING ELSE ON THE HUGE PLATE! Took at least 10 minutes for hot water w lemon. Coffee was cold. Second cup was better. Great atmosphere. Just way way too expensive. And we eat out a LOT!
Good food, big open atmosphere with good music. Service was a bit disjointed.
Overall, service was good, food was good, drinks were amazing. It was a little loud though. I also didn't care for the table we were placed at but there's not much that could have been done.
Love this place! Food and atmosphere are amazing. Wasn't impressed with the size of the ribeye for the cost. They could serve a thicker cut being that it's so fatty. Still delish!
Delicious food and great service
My only issue was we were there when the bar was still happy hour and my husband went to the bar to get a beer and she rudely commented that i can serve you beer too. Very rude. Otherwise it was great.
Disappointed in what is normally a wonderful meal. After extremely poor service, ended up leaving as so many issues just with getting beverages, then food arrived nearly cold. Manager provided his card and we will follow up directly with venue.
Loved the restaurant. Nice variety of menu options. Great cocktail selection. Comfortable. We went for lunch on Valentine's day. Our server was on the slow side and did not check in on us. We would have ordered another cocktail had she done so. That being said, she may have been new and it did not diminish our overall satisfaction.

We’ve always enjoyed Founding Farmers, and this time was no exception. However, there was one glitch. They failed to to record our reservation through Open Table and we therefore were classified as no shows by Open Table. I have since contacted the restaurant and responded to Open Table to confirm we were there. Here’s hoping I will get the points for this visit. Diners should be sure to mention Open Table reservations to insure they get their points. I appreciate Open Table notifying us about this.

I usually go to the Tyson’s location and it was my first time here at Reston. I had trouble finding the restaurant and ended in commuter parking. Once you find it it’s hard to forget. Aside from that the food was delicious and service was great. The only additional call out I have is that the Fried chicken dish pieces were significantly smaller than Tyson’s. That dish and size of the chicken pieces is the main reason I tend to visit Founding Farmers, I have only came once to Reston location so hesitating in judging by this 1 time experience here
I was disappointed in the taste of their food. They had a wonderful menu but the food was very disappointing.
My shrimp and grits was much saltier than normal:(
We were late for our reservation but the hosts were very gracious and we were seated without waiting too long.
The place was hopping, I did not realize the place was so popular and pack for the brunch!
I will come back but definitely not for brunch...

Poor service. Drinks were super late and this wasn’t the first time. love the atmosphere but they basically treated us like outcast this time because of a food allergy... even asked us to consider leaving!! We are always very polite and try to not make the allergy a big deal but they pushed us to consider leaving. If we weren’t with friends we would have and made us feel very uncomfortable. We have been there before and weren’t treated that way by the manager before. This time was as if they had been sued before with their open kitchen. So sad. If Sweetwatwr and Cooper’s can be amicable and do their best, why can’t they? My wife has felt with this for 20 years and has never felt so rejected with her allergy disability. I hate writing poor reviews .
We went for brunch for my wife's birthday. On Saturdays you can choose from the breakfast or lunch/dinner menu. Really good appetizers and the entrees were delicious. Our server, Kat, was wonderful. Can't wait to go back.

Showed up ahead of time, and was told that they will call once the time is due - which was fine but sort of strange as there were open seats. Ordered food - the staff was nice - but the food took a whole lot longer than a business lunch would have taken.
Great service from Kat! And reservations was on point
We will visit again! A favorite place for a great brunch. George was a great server.

Celebrated my husband’s 40th and had a Great time. Good atmosphere,service and food.
Fantastic food and our waiter did an amazing job. He was very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. This was our first visit to the Reston location and it did not disappoint. FF is one of our favorite restaurants in the area.
Too bad. This continues to be the case at both of the Virginia Founding Father's the service is extremely poor. Ashame as the food is good, but apparently the servers seem to think that will carry them? Had to get attention of other servers for drink refills and additional cocktails.
