American
MoCo's Founding Farmers is owned by the more than 47,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch.

While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn’t mean we know every farm, and that doesn’t mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we’re working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values.
We’re serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.

The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.

We ( party of 7) had a 7pm reservation, arrived at 6:50 and was seated immediately. The only downside was that we sat for over 21 minutes before I went to the hostess desk to find out who our server was to get beverages. I am assuming it was a oversight, otherwise the service was excellent and the staff was helpful and friendly. The food was great! We will be returning!

Excellently prepared comfort food - nice bar selection. Server was well versed and made solid recommendations. Is a bit loud due to open space and popularity. Will definitely be back.

I had a better experience 5 years ago at the DC location. My waiters seemed very rushed and because of him being an attentive we had 2 to 3 other people coming over to our table to check on us. I would recommend only going back to the DC location because this experience was not that great. I raved to a friend about this restaurant and thought that the DC one as well as Mocho would be the same and it was not. I will not be returning

A fan of Founding Farmers in Tyson’s and Reston. Although a reasonable experience, we prefer the other locations; nicer ambience and superior service. Restaurant was buzzing so waiter had too much to do and not as attentive as he would like to have been. Multiple items never delivered and two incorrect orders delivered. No follow up after food delivered. Hostesses were horrible. They were not friendly, abrupt and looked miserable. Might or might not try this location again.

a great meal at Founding Farmers my first one. My wife had suggested Founding Farmers and for some reason I wasn't excited about it. But I had a business dinner set up with a colleague and trusted mentor and decided this was the right place. Our server Amy was very knowledgeable and very helpful With picking our meal. Her knowledge of their menu and attention to detail was par with the delicious meal that was served. I had the prime rib and my colleague had one of the fish dishes. He enjoyed his meal mine was spectacular and the 10 oz was so large that I will enjoy a delicious lunch with it tomorrow. We started off with the crab dip which was fantastic served on the ciabatta bread which was prepared perfectly crusty yet soft. The meal was topped off at the end with a couple of lattes which were delicious.

Had 11:45 reservation for Sunday brunch. Asked to be seated outside as there were 4-5 open tables when I checked in. Waited 10m and asked the hostess if we could be seated at one of the still open outdoor tables. She said she would check. Waited another 10m and asked the hostess again if we could please be seated at one of the open tables. Five minutes later we were finally seated --25m after arriving on time for our reservation! Thankfully the food was mostly tasty, although the fruit that came with the roasted veggie pan scramble was not as described -- server described a mix of fresh pear, berries, apples and some melon. It was primarily unripe honeydew with a couple of tiny apple pieces & nothing else :(

Service at the MOCO Founding Farmers was extremely slow. One person in our group ordered chicken and waffles, no one brought out the syrup to go with the waffles until 15-20 minutes later. By that time, the waffles were cold and the person ate 2/3 of his plate. Another person ordered the All Green Salad with pulled chicken. They forgot to add the pulled chicken and again it took a solid 20 minutes to get that chicken and by the time it was brought over, half of the salad was gone. The bar was also slow. We were ordering drinks as soon as the first drink was brought out. If we waited to order a second drink until after the first was finished, we would have to wait another 20 minutes.

I ordered coffee, poured the creamer into my cup and it curdled.

Service was very mediocre (we had to wait for 10 minutes to get additional salad dressing, and then it was literally thrown onto our table without a "sorry for your wait"). Food was good, but pretty average. Nice meal, but nothing really special.

Service was quite poor today- will think twice about hosting another client breakfast here. Server never came by to check on coffee refills. We had to stop other servers and ask them to assist with coffee. When placing my order I asked for extra preserves for the biscuit with my entree. I received no preserves when the entree arrived and our server did not return so I asked another staff member for the preserves. This lack of attention occurred throughout the meal.

Nice menu with lots of options. Impossible Burger was on the dry side. My burger came out with the wrong bun and it took a long while for the multigrain bread to come out. While deconstructing my burger, about half of the avocado was brown/bruised-- so not very appealing. Kettle corn was good.

Founding farmers is always great. Good food, good prices for what you’re getting. It was a bit loud on a Wednesday night which was strange, but good for them staying that busy and we were seated right away (with our reservation). The only reason I knocked it down is because we were there for my wife’s birthday and we told the waitstaff that and everyone around us with a birthday got a candle with their dessert. We did not. Such a small thing though, and the waiter apologized for the mixup. Still a great place.

I am a loyal fan of Founding Farmer's restaurant in Potomac. As such I decided to celebrate my son's 28th birthday there along with 7 other guests. I made the reservation a week in advance, confirmed it the day before and advised them that it was my son's birthday and if there was anything they could do to make the occasion more special it would be greatly appreciated (translation: bigger tip). I showed up on the evening in question to find that they had stuck us in a corner table with 11 chairs (we were a party of 7) and cutlery for 7 making the table look tacky and desolate. The fried chicken was salty to the point of not being consumed, the service was slow and no one in the staff joined in singing happy birthday nor did ANYTHING at all to make the occasion a bit more special and festive.
I was mortified and disappointed.
You dropped the ball with one of your biggest fans Founding Farmers in Potomac. Tsk, Tsk.
