Founding Farmers - Montgomery County
While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn’t mean we know every farm, and that doesn’t mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we’re working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values.
We’re serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.

Really enjoyed our dinner. Food was good, service was good, drinks were good, service was good.
Went for dinner food was mediocre. We ordered the shrimp and lobster risotto, only about 6-7 shrimp.
Also had the crab sampler platter. The crab cake was good. Corn was NOT at all sweet. We had to ask for drink refills. However the sweet tea was really good.
2nd time eating here. Food was ok. Service was ok. Noise level was loud
Made a same day reservation for Father’s Day. very fast service & great food. We are here every couple of months or so and the spicy fried chicken is great! My dad left full and happy.
This is a nice place for family celebrations. We celebrated Father’s Day and my husband was very pleased.
It is a very nice place to bring a family for a meal.
Disappointing. so#so food. Server rushed us through the dinner. We were out in
45 minutes. Very noisy and frenetic.
Emily greeted our table with a warm welcome. Daniel was our waiter/server. He was thorough, cordial, and most helpful. He remembered our orders and had them delivered exactly. Everyone’s food was well presented and delicious. The staff graciously accommodated our need for extra seating and an extra table. Customer service at this location is excellent. Have dined here quite a few times, and look forward to returning.
Went for Father’s Day brunch. Nothing but good things to say! The food was fabulous and the service was perfect.
Had the vanilla creme filled French Toast and it was too much, but also delicious. Friend had the four cheese ravioli with house-made pasta, to give some idea of the breadth of options available for brunch. The drinks menu is extensive even for people like me who don't drink alcohol, and Red, one of the bartender's was awesome, super helpful.
I thought it was good but a little pricey. Plus I ordered a Latte that was $4.25-50 and then asked for a little bit of regular coffee and they charged me another $4.24-50. I thought that was a bit much.
We arrived at 925 for our 930 reservation and were seated immediately, as always, great food, great service, and good prices!!
I think Michael was my waiter - he made a drink that wasn't on the menu . He showed great patience as I was trying to find the drink on the internet . He was fantastic !
Crispy Shrimp was great - the ice cream was to die for.
Usually, I really like Founding Farmers, however, my food this time was not very good. I got my usual shrimp Louie cobb salad, and it had virtually no taste. My husband got the spicy fried chicke, which had a good flavor, but was quite dry. The service was good, though.
Food was delicious and choices were great. Server was great. Not the place for a quiet dinner noise level very high.
Your food was good, but it's awful now. The collards were tasteless and the potato salad was the worst I've had in my life! I will continue to come for breakfast, but you will never see me again for lunch or dinner. Hire a new chef! You had the reputation for excellent food; you need to address this.
Celebrated Father’s Day a day early since I have to work and the food and service for brunch was excellent!
I have been to all branches of Founding Farmers over 3 years. And we're fans and good repeat customers. And found Tysons & DC always great for vegetarians & vegans. So bkd a brunch table at 10 am at Rockville. Was meeting a friend after 31 yrs. Chose this over Barking Mad in Rockville or any of the First Watch. Was absolutely disappointed. First of all they said only bfast was served. They did not hv a sunday brunch menu. The website makes no mention of this. My friend is vegetarian but not vegan. He does not eat eggs. They had very very little to offer him. The only options were heavy on sugar & cream. The waffle banana foster was not available that day - they ran out of bananas! We asked if the chef could whip up something a little light and interesting - answer was no! My friend finally had oatmeal with granola. My husband & I ate meat & eggs. We had plenty to choose from. But it wasn't for us. With a name & reputation that Founding Farmers now enjoys - that was a total let down. I live in Vienna. We drove 30 miles that day. Made me feel like an idiot!
Wait staff were very friendly and accomodating with table selection & general service. In other words, they can do what is routine. But if you're expecting they will think outside the box for a situation thats NOT routine - you'll be disappointed. I was. Thats a shame. The true colors of a restaurant's quality is measured only by how staff handle non-routine situations. I've known plenty of smaller chains try more.
Food and waiting staff were outstanding. I recommend trying to get seating on the upper floor as it is very cozy. The only reason why I am taking off a star is that the food was a tad expensive.
It was a very special 60th wedding anniversary of my sister. Under special request I mentioned it and ordered cake for 8 people to be served soon after dinner. I was expecting that either I would get a call on further specifications of the cake or you would serve your choice. I also called on 16th afternoon to remind about the request.
But after dinner we waited and waited with no cake. I told the waitress. She did recall our ordering an anniversary cake. But it took another half hour or so to serve a piece of a cake to serve only 4 people.
We had been to FF a few times before and enjoyed our visits and hence booked this time. We are disappointed very much as the special occasion was spoiled by it. 60th wedding anniversaries do not come often you know!
Our server, Melissa, was fantastic at helping us make food and beverage choices. Very knowledgeable.
Only the second time I have visited Founding Farmers, but I doubt there will be a third. We had an early reservation on Thursday for a girls’ gathering. Our server was visibly unhappy that he had a group of women (fortunately an attentive staff member eventually assisted us). We had a tough time getting his attention for water, a second round of drinks and dessert. We pretty much gave up.
Food and service were very good. Noise level is out of control. I had to keep leaning over the table tohear my friend at lunch.
Great food great customer service
If you are a fan of the Farmers restaurants in DC and Virginia, don't waste your time with this outpost. It is a watered down version that has the feel of "we just expanded because we can!"
I love all 3 DC locations as well as the Tyson's locale - all have excellent brunches and superb service. The MOCO locale had great service but the food was nothing that you couldn't get at a diner or neighborhood breakfast joint. I guess if you live in the Potomac area it would serve as an adequate breakfast but definitely not worth traveling to.
Do yourself a favor and stick to the DC locations.
Hair in food. Apologies but nothing comped. Beignets soaked in oil. To the point they were soggy. Not happy overall.
Pretty good , great food , good atmosphere
Founding Farmers review in three words or less? Organic* Cracker Barrel. Or, perhaps, Urban Bob Evans. Come for the roasted chicken with a maple mustard glaze that contains no mustard at all and stay for the green beans that taste like they microwaved the bag too long and forgot to add any seasoning.
*I'm not convinced anything there was organic.
This restaurant is very noisy and very busy, but the service and the food were very good. We had about a 15 minute wait for a table (with a reservation), but once we were seated, we received prompt and excellent service from the wait staff. The evening fish special (halibut) was outstanding and our other diners also enjoyed their meals (fish and chips, dinner salad, salmon). Would recommend this restaurant, but be sure to have a reservation.
This is our place for "friends catch up"; the staff is always friendly and patient and at no point do we feel rushed as we sit and catch up on each other's lives. The food is always good and our server was knowledgeable about the menu when we had questions. My burger was a perfect medium rare which can be a challenge in restaurants. The coffee is well made and the homemade ice cream was to die for!
The tables and seats were sticky. It took almost 20 minutes for a server to stop by. The water carafe had little black things flooting in it. The server checked in once street dropping or food but then didn't return for another hour. This place has really gone downhill. The food was fine but certainly over priced for being just average.
First time trying out Founding Farmers MoCo. Went for a brunch date because I had heard good things. The food was pretty good, made from scratch and sustainably sourced. The only reason it didn't exceed expectations is because I am picky, and like my food well done. The coffee was my favorite! They serve local Compass coffee in big rustic chic mugs. Ambiance was warm and inviting. I recommend always making reservations because it was very full. I made mine 20 minutes before arriving, and it made a huge difference in wait time.
We were a party of 3 on our way to DC and stopped by for breakfast. We lucked out and had the best wait person (Lisa) to take care of us. She was so upbeat, very knowledgeable about the products and the farms that the products came from, efficient, and very kind. It's hard to find anyone who so obviously loves their job and respects the organization that she works for.
Great food,good service~we r enjoy the places.
We r visit again!
Excellent food and ambiance with remarkable service. The staff are friendly and efficient
Love your food and service ...ambience great except for sound level...way too noisy for a good conversation!!!Install some noise quieter baffles...
Waitress was AWESOME! Food was good and portions were large.. took it home left overs!
The manager and our waiter were awesome!!!!!!
The food and atmosphere works well with our business lunches. I like the restaurant and the food.
