About Founding Farmers - Montgomery County

MoCo's Founding Farmers is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch.

While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn’t mean we know every farm, and that doesn’t mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we’re working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values.
We’re serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.

The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.

Incredible breakfast! Eggs were melt-in-your-mouth, the homemade biscuits were delicious, and the pancakes were out of this world. We will absolutely be back for breakfast... and dinner!

Founding Farmers never disappoints. Breakfast is my favorite and the sausage mushroom spinach scramble is a must. The pancakes are light, fluffy and amazing! Oh, and diameter of your plate!! The best breakfast experience.

This is our go to local neighborhood restaurant. I’ ll do a quick openntable cyeck to assess how busy the restaurant is as we’re hrading out and place a quick reservation if there are openings in a 15 to 20 minute window do we roll in and get seated promptly. Service is always friendly. The wait staff are always helpful and willing to make dietary substitutions to menu items - switching out carb heavy sides for a salad or other vegetable. My only complaint was the temperature at the seating area on our last visit. A front corner table nearest to the open stair well was a breezy cooler spot - I kept my jacket sling over my shoulders to stay warm. Otherwise, a delightful meal as usual.

Decided to try the Impossible Burger that I've been hearing about, and I must say, it lives up to the hype. Great taste and I feel good after eating it - not sluggish and heavy as after eating a big greasy beef burger. Enjoyed the service. My one small complaint is that when I see the starter of pickled veggies, I was expecting an interesting assortment and instead just got a small bowl of regular sliced pickles. That's not worth the 5 bucks.

I had heard great things about Founding Farmers in DC and had been itching to go, but the traffic and parking in the city leaves a lot to be desired! Needless to say, when I saw the signs of the upcoming restaurant in North Potomac, I was extremely excited. When my friend birthday rolled around, we made it a point to make sure that we wouldn't miss going to FF this year! It met every expectation and exceeded them, from the short wait time (we DID make a reservation), through to the dessert! The food was quite tasty (I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken entree and my friend ordered the Chicken and Waffles). This is the first place I've had collard greens that were as near perfectly seasoned and cooked as mine! The mashed potatoes were exquisite and the fried chicken won me over immediately and is the main reason why I will be returning very soon! The wait staff was very pleasant, knowledgeable, professional and attentive! A wonderful experience all around! Looking forward to returning very soon!

Even though we had a reservation, we had to wait for a while. I understand that because this place is always so crowded.
Food is always great but the price is bit pricy.
Nice atmosphere.
We will go back again.

Prices are high for food and drinks, thus you can not come here on a regular basis. No birthday offerings available except for adding a candle on whatever dessert you ordered. Server was not friendly, but was attentive.

Excellent food with a variety of creative dishes from the chefs! Unique drinks and entrees. One of the few restaurants in the DC Metro area that carries the Impossible Burger, a vegetarian burger invented by one of the world's top scientists, engineered to appear and taste like real meat.

This was mine and my husvand’s first time dining at Founding Farmers, and we were not disappointed! Everything was fantastic - our waiter, the atmosphere, and the food. We recommend the skillet cornbread and the butternut cake!! Will return soon to try out brunch!

Have dined multiple times and has consistently great food and multiple creative drink options. The sangria (not on menu) was great with fresh berries. Ask for it.

We’re not a weekly regulars, but since it has opened, my husband and I have been there over 20 times. He enjoys it. The food is decent. However not consistent. The wait staff is wonderful. The front of house, has improved. I highly recommend it for brunch, casual dinner or an early breakfast.

We had 10:45 pm reservations for after a show at Kennedy Center. It was awful getting out of the parking lot at KC and we ended up walking in at 10:58 pm. They were gracious & seated us even though I'm sure the kitchen crew were trying to wrap things up. We never felt rushed or pushed to finish our meal. We had the usual great service and wonderful meals enjoyed by all!

I had smoked salmon on an authentic English muffin with a runny egg. It was delicious and I ate every bite. I also had a side of Brussels sprouts with bacon 💛. This was my second time here and we were a group of six adults and one child. Our little one had Mac and cheese and iced tea. Was very vibrant and the Bloody Mary was delicious. We will be back soon.

Good selection of good whether you are a meet eater or vegetarian. We had breakfast in mind and was pleasantly surprised they were still serving breakfast after noon. The wait time wasn't look because we made a reservation. Service was good and it only took about 10 minutes for our food to come out.

We went for Thanksgiving. The restaurant was packed and our server was not very attentive. One person in my group got served the wrong meal. The apple pie was cold and the ice cream was icy. And the pumpkin pie had a soggy bottom. It seemed very assembly-line like.

No immediate family close by this Thanksgiving and didn't want to cook a large meal, so went out for dinner with another family in same situation (close friends and similar-aged kids). Fantastic food and great service. The special price-fixed menu seemed a bit expensive, but overall had a great experience. Locally-sourced food always a big plus.

We enjoyed their Thanksgiving fixed price menu. Very generous portions. Everything was very good. We appreciated the vegetarian choice. One of us had that and the other had the classic Turkey dinner. We did feel a little rushed through the meal, not much pause between the courses. Presuming they wanted to keep their seating schedule on time.

This was my first experience at Founding Farmers especially since I normally cooked Thanksgiving dinner for a large family and choice friends. The food was excellent, tasty, hot and filling.
The atmosphere was very relaxing and the service was impeccable. The servers anticipated what we needed and when.
This restaurant received raves from my family.
Thanks for a delightful experience.

Thanksgiving. Nice variety of proteins. Abundant sides ... smoky Brussels sprouts and roasted root veg. Kicking skin on mashed potatoes. Homey biscuits. Good sized drinks. Fried chicken was a huge hit. Vegan option a dud. Friendly staff. My wahoo (fish) was delish.

I enjoyed every bite of my Bourbon battered French toast w/honey butter & warm cinnamon syrup, eggs, sausage, bacon, and hash browns. My wife really enjoyed her delicious biscuits and gravy breakfast that was also picture perferct. We will return to try other items on the menu.
