I came here with my husband to meet a friend visiting from Florida. We have been to the other locations and this was the first time to MOCO. The service was wonderful, food was well prepared and timely, and the restaurant makes it easy to not wait to be seated by reserving online. We will absolutely be back to Founding Farmers.
Very good food and great service.
Everything was great but I was disappointed no non alcoholic beer. How about people who can’t drink alcohol. We had a wonderful waiter Colin
Our waitress Nikki was extremely pleasant and accommodating.
Great food and great waiter. Don't understand waiting 20 minutes to be seated WITH a reservation. Has me questioning whether it's worth going back.
My reservation was immediately honored and I was seated. My friends (3 in our group) joined and we had a delicious meal. I would have rather sat our group in a booth away from the maddening center of the restaurant. Tables too close together and too loud. The server was polite and energetic and brought our drinks quickly and we placed order quickly. Our food orders were delivered quickly, however 2 meals were mixed up but it was quickly resolved by switching side salad and bread choices. We enjoyed our meal and found the food delicious. When it came time to pay the check, we each gave our portion - 2 people paid with credit cards and 1 paid with cash. We instructed the new server (different from our original waitress) to split 3 ways and bring the tabs and cash back. The server split the tab 2 ways and kept the $20. We figured he got the $20 tip ( which should have gone to our original waitress) and we each paid way over price for our meal. We left no tip, since he took 40% in tip. Not a good ending to a wonderful meal. Good thing we are easy going gals and not in the mood to raise a stink.
It was great. I eat here often.
Service was excellent! We had 2 food allergies, one egg and one gluten. The manager came out and asked about cross contamination. They were genuinely concerned and wanted to make sure that we would be ok.
Food was delicious. We will definitely be back!!
We planned to have a nice evening to celebrate a special family occasion and chose Founding Farmers. We had reservations but we still had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. When we inquired at the host desk, repeatedly we were told that it would be “just a few minutes”. Both my husband and I inquired patiently three separate times and each time told that it would be “a few minutes” or the table was “being cleared”. After 45 minutes, we were ready to walk out. We were not the only ones waiting extensively in front and it became quite crowded at one point where no one was able to maneuver in or out of the restaurant. When I told one of the hostesses to just cancel our reservation, she informed me that they were wiping down the table. At that point, I asked her point blank if she was serious this time and she assured me that our table was ready. She grabbed menus and finally took us to our table. I told her as an aside that they needed to be honest with their patrons to better manage expectations. A “few minutes” needs to be quantified to 10-15 minutes, max; NOT 45 minutes, particularly when you have reservations! Instead of being a happy occasion to celebrate, our mood was severely dampened. The manager could easily sense my frustration and tried her best to diffuse the situation by offering us some free appetizers. However, at that point, I had lost my appetite. Luckily, my children brightened the atmosphere.
The server assigned to us tried his best to be attentive and get the food we ordered to us quickly. There were a few missteps with our drink orders but they were addressed immediately. The food came out hot and drink refills were provided in a timely manner.
When the check came, I still chose to tip 20%, attributable primarily to the server’s apologetic demeanor and attentiveness.
In the end, I caution future patrons NOT to book here if you expect your reservations to be honored. You’ll be waiting much, much more than a “few minutes”.
I have heard about Founding Farmers for years but never got there. Had a reservation so didn't have too wait long. Went to the bar to grab a drink while we waited. Very expensive small cocktails which were very slow in arriving. Dinner was less than spectacular. The fried chicken was dry, the mac and cheese an odd mix of cheese and the shrimp and grits just okay.
The crab dip appetizer was the highlight but when asked for one more piece of toast was told they would have to charge for 5 more pieces. Really??
Not going to rush back.
Love this place.
I really like Founding Farmers in DC, but I just don't think Founding Farmers MOCO is as good. I also do not think the menu is very flexible for diners with sensitivities. It would be nice if they noted whether any of their dishes are gluten or dairy free. Seems pretty standard in this day and age.
I come here often. It was St. Patrick’s Day. I had a noon reservation and walked in about 12:01 or 12:92. I waited at least 15 mins for a table. Other than that, it was everything it usually is. But to wait that long is a sign that whoever is making reservations isn’t scheduling enough time, holiday or not.
Went for breakfast for the first time. Wasn’t blown away like o expected to be. I had the chicken and waffles and it was good but not great. Would try breakfast again but try something different.
As always the food was delicious and the service was great
Too expensive, no happy hour. Tried to seat us upstairs when there was plenty of room downstairs. Enjoyed the fish of the day.
My husband and I frequently go to Founding Farmers for dinner and have never been disappointed. Service is always great, food is incredible, and we love the scratch sodas. The prime rib is my favorite!
I love this place. The décor is really cool, the food is ALWAYS good and the service is just enough to keep you feeling taken care of without feeling smothered. Pricing is on point and accessibility is excellent.
Always love the food here.
Too crowded...overwhelmed staff...good in general
Always a reliable choice for great food and attentive service! I left fat n’ happy!
We loved Founding Farmers and can’t wait to come back. Being vegetarian/vegan..it was awesome to have that accommodating menu for our food preferences. Impossible burger was absolutely fantastic. Front girls on charge of hosting and seating were also very polite and welcoming.
The food is always fresh. I highly recommend the prime rib dip sandwich, it is simply a delight. Also, the stews, specifically the pork and lentils is the best.
Great customer service and the waitress, Fatima was excellent! I have already recommended this location to a dear friend. Of course, my family and I Will be back for more.
This is one of our "go to"restaurants. The food is always terrific. Our server Stephanie was terrific too. You'll have to reserve a table to avoid a long wait.
We sat at the bar even though we had reservations and the service was amazing. Food was great as usual. Apple cider sorbet was phenomenal, definitely would buy mass quantities.
Reservation does not mean much. It takes 20+ minutes to get a table at a popular time. Happens quite often.
Servers inattentive. Daily fish is very boring and overpriced. Not the first time.
I usually like Founding Farmers. Something seems to have changed since the last time I was there. The service this time was a bit underwhelming.
Our booth at the front of the restaurant was large, but it was very noisy and difficult to hear each other. But overall, the food and service was great.
Sad but this place is starting to lose its touch. Had breakfast here recently and didn't think anything really stood out. My friend had a omelet that seemed more like stir fry than anything else. My eggs were fine, but the pork sausage was just okay, the biscuit was dry, and the grits were terrible. Definitely not worth it. Still sticking to three stars because my most recent dinner here was delicious. Love their burgers and bacon. Hopefully those haven't changed as much.
Love FF! Had a famiky birthday dinner here. We weren’t rushed and were given space and time to enjoy and feast. Server gave excellent recommendations and was enjoyable to work with. Thank you for another wonderful dining experience. Til next time-
This was my second visit to the restaurant and I was bringing out of town friends, so you're always hoping the restaurant doesn't let you down, when you've talked a place up. FF definitely held up its end of the bargain. We were seated promptly, the waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, easily and effortlessly able to answer all the questions we had and to make recommendations when asked. The drinks and food were all excellent, satisfying our pickiest and our snobbiest eaters at the same time, and the portions are very generous, giving us enough for lunch the next day. We all had an excellent time.
Ordered the grilled salmon in the walnut parmesan style. It was too dry and burned for my taste. They deducted it from the total.
Their cocktails are amazing and their atmosphere is great. Will def come back but wont order that again.
Other items I ordered in the past were great.
Good place to get fresh tasty food. Atmosphere is friendly and cozy with a rustic feel. Service was professional and we were greeted by the team of staff that were waiting on us.
My mother and I had a delicious meal made more perfect by server Oscar. He was patient and kind and listened to our desire to relax and enjoy our time together over good food. It is always a pleasure to dine at Founding Farmers Montgomery County. Your food and wait staff are the best.
The restaurant was overbooked, but we waited thinking it was going to be worth it. It was not, the fried chicken we ordered was dry and greasy. The collard greens were dry. The medium salmon was flirting with well done. The server was nice and attentive, but the kitchen was lacking and the hostesses were overwhelmed. Overall it was not a great experience.
Service use to be excellent and so was your food unfortunately because of overcrowding
You can’t get quality food nor service. We were given cold coffee with huge table spoons our mimosas were dripping all over the table. Overall a huge disappointment.
Everything was amazing. Service was quick, food came out hot and in a timely manor. Management stopped by the table, she was also very nice. Hosts were polite and we did not have to wait long for a table. Overall great experience!!
It was a great dining experience. The service was great as well as the food
