American
MoCo's Founding Farmers is owned by the more than 47,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch. While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn’t mean we know every farm, and that doesn’t mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we’re working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values. We’re serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty. The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.

Our waiter is wonderful, professional and very nice.
My kale salad is delicious as always, and cat fish is cooked nicely today, thank you!

My husband’s brisket dish is very tough & chewy so we won’t order that again.

We requested a booth away from the front door in our reservation note, but were seated in the booth which right behind the hostess desk (happen to be the closest booth to the door 🥺🥶😩) while a lot of available booths around.

The food was good and the service great. Unfortunately we were seated in an area where the tables were close together. As we were the first in the cluster we did not think it was an issue. Shortly after getting our food people were seated an either side of us, limiting our conversation. The acoustics are already bad in the restaurant, so speaking quietly was not really an option. Next time we will ask for a more private seating location.

Service is good, we have very efficient & friendly waitress 👍🏻

However, all meat items (except the fried chicken) came out too ‘charred’ while we did not ordered any food that supposed to be ‘blackened’.

They unfortunately forgot my birthday even though I had it down in the comment section in open table. I was excited for my daughter to see the servers sing. She’s 4 and never had that kind of excitement at a restaurant

Hi Ajax14: Thank you for your review & joining us on your special day! I am very sorry for the confusion- we actually don't sing for birthdays, however place a candle in any dessert ordered for the birthday guest. I do apologize if the server overlooked the candle in your dessert & I would love to make this right if this was the case. I will send you a DM with my email address to provide the opportunity for us to connect further. We appreciate it and also, Happy belated Birthday! -Amy

The rib eye was cooked too rare, good crust - but only on the very edges. Crust should have been on the top and bottom of the steak. Disappointing flavor of the steak otherwise - unseasoned and under cooked. Fatty bites weren't salty. disappointing. The mashed potatoes are delicious, and the appetizers are all delicious and well made. The rib eye is disappointing, but I believe the steak frites would be better. Will have to come again and try one of their signature dishes, perhaps those are more their specialty. Overall, the restaurant is nice and has great choices, just have to find what's really good there.

Hi SophieM: I am real sorry the Rib Eye was under-cooked this time, and the flavor also missed the mark. :( Our Culinary Team will take this into account for the improvements needed to this dish and we appreciate your feedback- letting us know these details. That said, we are hopeful you will give us another try in the future and please call our team: 301-340-8783 for any reservation help needed. -Amy

Lovely dinner and waitstaff, but did not like waiting until 635 for our table when our reservation was at 615 and we arrived at 605 and was told ten minutes without updates until we inquired ourselves half an hour later when we were a couple feet from the hostess stand.

Food was great, staff great, Food great. Price on a meatless salad high $17.00? Noise level at 1:00 pm off the charts loud, but later quieted down so overall good experience -

The lunch was mediocre at best. Our server, Paris, was excellent but the other people who brought things to the table or assisted with delivering food seemed upset, angry or unhappy. Several times people brought out drinks or appetizers and just drop it on the table, without asking who it was for or even acknowledging it was the correct table. It felt like they really could care less. Then my friend left her phone at the restaurant and had to get the police involved before anyone fessed up to finding her phone. I will not be visiting this location again.

Came in on a Saturday lunch reservation for 5 people. There were a few open tables when we arrived. We were seated promptly. The food was just ok, as was the service. I remember a much better prior experience at FF. Bit disappointed this time around but will be back to give it another shot some time.

Great food. Brunch portions are a bit small but delicious nonetheless. Took a while to seat us even with a reservation. We had a pretty good server, she got the food order right but she rushed us out of there. She brought the check when I did not even ask for it and she never checked on us when our food came. Overall good experience not great.

The service was not good. We had to wait about 20 minutes to place our order and I had to flag down our waitress to ask if we could order. She did not check on us for drink refills or to help when one in our party did not get their food.

Overall the dinner was good. If I could mention two things that could use improvement, it would be the fact that the Hostess was not at all friendly, warm or welcoming. She seemed bothered and simply mumbled it will be a few minutes when I checked-in. Perhaps she was just having a rough night. Service was very good. Food was good for the most part however, my meal came out and it was not hot so I feel it could have been even better. Risotto also had an overwhelmingly strong onion flavor; it overpowered all other flavors.

Some food was good. The pasta in the Mac and cheese was mush. It should have been made with dried pasta for better texture. Popcorn was great. Chicken soup portion was too small.

I’ve eaten at Founding Farmers before and this time got the grain bowl, which was underwhelming compared to other dishes. It’s also becoming frustrating that even with a reservation and showing up on time or early, I’m still waiting 10-15 minutes for a table.

Love founding farmers, however everytime I go, it’s chaotic in the restaurant. Not sure if they over book reservations or take too many walk ins, but it’s loud and seems like they try to turn over tables very fast. So if you are going for a leisurely time with family/friends, may want to reconsider. But if you want to be in the mix of things, this is your place. Food is always good!!

The Eggs Benedict were not tasty (very bland) and they were cold. We got our Thanksgiving dinner from there and it was the best Thanksgiving dinner ever. Usually we go for breakfasts and they are always quite nice. I did not make a good choice in the Eggs Benedict.

Food was good and portions were large. Our server Juan was very friendly but forgetful and slow in serving us. Requested an ice tea when asked for beverage request and the actual food service was slow. Fish and chips were very good but vinegar spilled on fries so we requested new fries. Server then tried charging us $6.00 for replacement.

We came in at 4pm and the server, Abu, neglected us from the start. Because we were a party of 8, he knew he was getting 20% gratuity regardless of his service. He only took half the party’s drink order. He never cleared our plates between courses and didn’t check on us until we waived him down. We did see him goofing with the hostesses. I’ve been at every Founding Farmers in the DC area and never had any service issues. Never coming back to GM this location.

Went to Moco Founding Farmers for lunch on New Year's Day. We have reservations (a good thing), and we were seated at our reservation time. The service was excellent. The food seemed to be fresh, but the preparation and taste was just average. The price was relatively high as well. I would still recommend trying this restaurant if you have not been there, you taste may be different than mine. However, I don't think I will return.
