Founding Farmers - Montgomery County
While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn’t mean we know every farm, and that doesn’t mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we’re working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values.
We’re serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.

Definitely not the same as the DC Founding Farmers! I've been to the DC location numerous times while traveling for business and the food has always been fresh, delicious and top-notch. The food at the Rockville location was mediocre at best. The chicken and waffles is my go-to. The chicken was dry and tough, as if it were under a heat lamp all day. The macaroni and cheese was not even close to being the same as the DC location (different noodles and also dry - again, seemed old). The mashed potatoes were the only thing that tasted the same. I asked our waiter about the steak and enchiladas, that were listed under the specialties portion of the menu. I asked what the avocado salad was specifically. He said, "it's avocado and stuff that compliments it...I really have no idea to be honest". I guess that should have been our sign that the quality was not the same as the fabulous DC location.
I'll be going back to FF...but not this location.
Food was awesome, service was a little on the slow side but I understand it was a busy brunch time. Overall, my friends and I had a good time!
It was okay. I think I had higher expectations for the brunch. It was very pricey for just okay food.
The service and atmosphere was very nice though.
Great food and service.
Founding Farmers - awesome as usual. Friendly staff - make a reservation. Excellent drinks too. Prepare to take home leftovers!
Just not impressed. The highlight was the cocktails. The ambience was ok if you like dining at a restaurant where the tables are so closely spaced it is easier to hear your next door neighbors than your own dining companion, hence very noisy. The waitstaff was disorganized as to who was supposed to handle our table. They got my side dish wrong but promptly corrected it. Our entrees were fine, the beignets were like soggy donuts and a far cry from something you might expect in New Orleans. I was left feeling like I was eating at a glorified diner with a bill commensurate to a fine dining experience.
As always a good meal. I was disappointed in my choice (pulled pork) and my husband didn’t love the Mac n’cheese. But the farm bread was excellent!
I don’t like when traditional dishes are completely changed without being told in a description
I ordered pot roast.... it had cinnamon on the beef. I don’t like cinnamon, but there was no warning ....... who would think it would have it. My other guests mentioned the same about their dishes, they just missed being good
It’s fine you want to be interesting, just tell people in advance.
We were seated by a stand that contained dishes and glasses that the servers would often come to. This was disruptive to our party. The waiter was not the best. He did not ask if we wanted any refills on our drinks.
The food was fresh and delicious. Our server Fatima was wonderful. We will definitely be back.
Birthday celebration. Food was delicious! Staff attentive. Have no complaints.
Had a reservation at 11am on a Sunday morning. It was busy and I felt like our waitress was not fully able to focus. When the food came out, my food was missing! I waited and finally had to ask for my waitress. She came and I told her what I ordered, but said I thought you ordered something else. Which did not make since because nothing came. So after she put in my order it came out fairly quickly. Which should have been a sign because it luke warm and just mediocre. Also two people from my table who both ordered the crab cake Benedict got stomach aches and had to use the restroom right after we left!
family get-together with 7 people on a sunday at 9:30am. server was gracious & very accommodating, helping me get a favorite item that typically isn’t served in the breakfast menu.
Founding Farmers MoCo is great. The service is always excellent, the food is AMAZING and if you do enjoy a beer or cocktail, they have a lot of really fun options.
I loved the food, but not the service or the wait. I made a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes before being seated. The server was inattentive and took at least 15 more minutes to take the tables order. The guest of honor(pregnant lady’s) food seemed to be forgotten as it got there 10 minutes after everyone else in the party. I have been here before and received good service but this time was a fail for me and my group.
I've been here a few times. Food is consistently good. The chocolate chips pancakes were good, huge serving size.
Lisa our waitress was fantastic , timing of everything for a busy Saturday morning was also great.
Small portion, unclean tables poor service
as always - amazing
Friendly service and great food!
Husband’s sausage and mushroom gnocchi meal was bland (but salty), and heavy on gnocchi and light on sausage and mushrooms. My meal was better - a chicken piccata dish w goat cheese (I think). The couple we were with ordered appetizers as their meal. Those looked heavy, but they seem to have enjoyed them. This elderly couple we were with were soft talkers and both were hard of hearing. The background noise was a big challenge for them and us. Service was excellent!
From the start...wrong drink brought to table. Deviled eggs were awful. Hamburger was cooked as ordered but no big deal for taste. Chicken Milanese was a breadt pounded with wing attached and had no flavor. The arugula salad was placed directly on top of the Milanese!
Great restaurant with amazing food. Our waitress, Paris, was nothing but kind and amenable to our requests. If you're looking for somewhere quiet to talk, this probably isn't the place to go. Definitely a fun, lively atmosphere.
The noise level is awful. The restaurant was half full and the noise was very loud. Our waiter lowered the music but it made no difference.
First time dinning there. Wonderful experience, with great food and good vibes.
Our dishes at brunch were all served cold. Services lacked as well. Had to keep asking for butter, coffee refills, etc.
This is not a quiet restaurant. The coffee is excellent and food is served at the appropriate temp. I only wish I could hear my table companions. Sit at the bar if you want to hear a conversation.
Our waitress, Amber, was outstanding. She had good recommendations and seemed knowledgeable about the dishes. The food was delicious. However, the restaurant was too noisy, and the floor was dirty. The restaurant was crowded, and I imagine that there was high
The food was awful. Greasy, soggy salad, unseasoned pasta.... awful. You know the food is bad when the manager was making rounds apologizing for how the food tasted. Our neighbors, ourselves and the people behind us all got the apologizing speech.
We will never go back.
Great portion size and food taste amazing.
Great as always
Food was excellent, but expensive.
Food quality is good ; Service is adequate. It may be more expensive than other competitors with the same quality of food.
Really liked the restaurant because I can tell dishes were scratch made. The server was excellent. I disappointed in the greens and mac and cheese when I was there Friday Nov 30. The $3 upcharge for the mac and cheese was ridiculous considering the portion size was one spoonful and the taste was nothing special. Too much crunch in the mac and cheese. Crunch topping is not necessary. Felt like I had sand in my mac and cheese!!! I was told the greens were collards and they were not. They appeared to be mustard greens and were not seasoned at all! I know my greens and those were not collards. Please cook your greens in seasoned broth (using some type of smoked meat that is boiled in water that is seasoned with onions or onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, red pepper flakes). The short rib was tender but also lacked seasoning. The only seasoning was in the overly sweet sauce that was poured on it. Check out Ann Burrell’s recipe on the Food Network website. That is one of the best ways to do short ribs. You will see and taste the difference.
The ribs could have been a little fresher. Tasted a little old. But rest of the meal was outstanding.
Great dining experience with a server who demonstrated exceptional customer service!!! I live in Baltimore and was catching up with an old friend from Manassas,VA. Founding Farmers was a perfect in between spot to meet and he had never been to one. She never rushed us, gave us time to catch up, recommended dishes, kept us informed regarding food delivery and engaged in light conversation regarding pets and stocks. We started with the hot crab & artichoke dip - superb! It was followed by salads - his was the Good All Greens and I had the Fried Chicken substituted with grilled chicken- fresh, delicious and filling!
Enjoyed our visit - the food was delicious! We tried two different vegetarian entrees, and two fabulous desserts. Two downsides of our experience were the distracted waiter, who completely missed two of the smaller items that we ordered, and the noise level of the space, which made it hard to have a normal conversation.
Great experience overall - Drove 30 minutes just to come here and had a wonderful Sunday brunch with my mom. Dishes could definitely be described as comfort food, can't wait to come back for really any occasion!
Our large family loves this restaurant. Lots for every member - vegetarian, carnivore, omnivore who love good food! Any time of day!
