Founding Farmers - King of Prussia
Our service for a Wednesday night was exceptionally slow. Especially the drinks, the quality was ok, the food was exceptional
I would normally give Founding Farmers 5-stars. There was a slight service issue because we were seated right next to a large party (12+) and our order went in after theirs (even though we ordered before and said we were quite hungry) which resulted in a long wait. I will give credit to the manager who recognized the matter and came to us before we even had to think to ask for him. He apologized and offered to comp our desserts....and why the 4 star rating. I suspect the server was new and maybe just didn’t juggle as well as she could have and maybe a bit apprehensive about raising the issue, but it would have been fine if she had because we would understand the situation and accept the apology welcomingly rather than thinking she was just not aware of it. We did ask for some bread while we were waiting and said we were hungry, I just think she was nervous and didn’t want broach the subject. I strongly believe is not and will not be the norm because the service at FF has always been top notch and the management is really attentive and on top of things. I wish the server success and hope she doesn’t get patrons who might not be as understanding.
A special thanks goes to the management for being understanding to the fact one in our party had her medical service dog with her. I made note in the reservation and when we arrived they changed the table they had for us to one that had more space and could accommodate the service dog and not be an interference to other guests. The staff seemed especially understanding that service animals are not to be petted because they are working. Further kudos to management for what I suspect is a product of impeccable training. My friend has had issues in the past with places that are not as understanding or accommodating so I am especially glad we chose Founding Farmers for our dinner.
Food and Service very good, menu not large, prices on entrée fair. Could use more soup variety, only one chicken noodle. Drink price on the high side. Also, if you want bread and butter its extra !! To keep it reasonable for seniors you could pass on the drinks.
Met with friends for dinner. Food and service were great!
Celebrating our anniversary at one of our favorite spots in KOP.
It's as though someone came up with a fun, indulgent menu, and then didn't bother to teach the kitchen staff how to actually cook the food or plate the dishes. Some things were bland, some overcooked, some way too salty. Then some things were dynamite like the cornbread and the cocktails. I also don't understand the decor. There's a farmhouse/industrial thing going on throughout most of the place, but then each dining area looks intentionally different. We were in a section that looked like a lame family restaurant, but it wasn't tacky enough to be ironic.
The Sunday brunch has a wide variety of offerings but the regular breakfast and lunch menus are not available, so if you're not a hearty eater, the brunch is a bit pricy.
The space is lovely, but loud and the front desk staff seemed overwhelmed.
The ladies' room was a bit "overwhelmed" as well...leaky plumbing and lack of soap - not what you'd hope for from an upscale restaurant.
Family gathering- side room- great food and service
Sunday Brunch. We did not know the only offering was the Buffet. I think this could be better communicated; as there are no menu options. Very long lines for the buffet. Food was fine. Planning to try for another meal.
Excellent food and service
Sunday Brunch was delicious and the service is great. We wished they had a few more breakfast options (Only scrambled eggs were offered. Perhaps omelets or eggs your own way - fried, pouched, etc would have been nice).. However overall the food is just outstanding and we love the ambiance. We will definitely be back.
This is my happy place. I have never had a bad meal. The bacon Lolli and the scallops with risotto and Brussel sprouts. And donuts for dessert. amazing creme bruele donut bar none.
It was my husband birthday. Place was nice and clean a little loud. Our waiter didn't speak good English. However, I order Chinese spare ribs was too salty. My husband crab cakes were delicious. Overall I wouldn't return but I would recommend the D.C. area food was alot tastier.
Everyone in our party had a wonderful time. Food was delicious and our service was top-notch.
Would definitely come back again - Soon!!!
Hi McGinnR: Thank you for sharing your review with us! Many thanks for the kind words and 5-STAR rating. :) We also look forward to your return and please call us at: 484-808-4008 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Food is exceptional and the service was great. Its very loud and we had to watch two servers arguing near our table because one was not staying until close. Id go just for the food. Lots of stuff on the menu and everything was delicious. and our server was knowledgeable and patient with my 76 year old mother.
Made a reservations to meet some friends for brunch on a Saturday. Although the brunch was advertised and I know weekends served a brunch buffet, nowhere on the website or the fine print for reservations was it indicated that the ONLY option was the buffet. None of us wanted the buffet or planned on having to pay $30/person for an average buffet EXTREMELY heavy food . One of my friend’s son is allergic to cheese so she asked if they could have plain scrambled eggs without cheese and she was simply told, “no”. Definitely not worth the price and it should be clearly stated that you just get the buffet on weekends.
Brunch was wonderful and the service was great!
We had a delicious meal (crab artichoke dip to share then I had a perfectly cooked prime rib). The atmosphere had a fun vibe too.
This was our first visit to Founding Farmers. Our server, Sara, was excellent. We really like the location (at the King of Prussia Town Center). We like having vegetarian options, as well as getting freshly baked bread (but note that you're paying for it...either $5 or $8). It was really Sara who helped to make our experience memorable. We look forward to returning.
Salmon was undercooked and had to go back. Service was excellent.
Great food, great service. No issues at all. 2nd floor seating and spacious tables.
Keith is amazing. His customer service is the best in all of KOP!
Casual and energetic ambiance. We really enjoyed the special cocktails from their own distillery. The menu selection is varied and there is something for everyone. My tuna poke was tasty and my friend enjoyed her scallops. I also liked the fresh made ice cream for dessert.
Compared to the other "Farmers"-type places (e.g other Founding Farmers, "Farmers, Fishers and Bakers", etc) this one is a total bust.
Parking is at a premium, so you have to valet ($$) or walk quite a bit. Then the restaurant is upstairs and appears to be split into two areas - one is darker and more traditional-style and the other is bright and pastel like an ice-cream parlor. Just plain weird.
Food was ok, although my companion's "medium well" filet was exuding a copious amount of red juice, so much even the waiter commented it looked wrong before he even put it on the table. Did he offer a replacement? No, he sent it back to be "done some more". This is a really terrible, shoddy practice in any restaurant and not one I would expect from a place like this.
Baked potato was under-done in places (but better that way than over-done).
My overall impression is that this place is staffed by a bunch of amateurs. Very far below expectations. Try the Farmers on Pennsylvania Avenue in DC, or the one at Georgetown Waterfront. Easily a far superior experience. Will not be revisiting this one again.
Hi GrantB: Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am very sorry to read that your experience at this location was considered a total bust, and everything completely failed to measure up. With this said, I'd love the chance to touch base about your feedback from your visit on Thursday, and will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
Had lunch and just tried the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. The soup was excellent -- the sandwich could have been better with alternate bread choices. They do not serve rye, marble or sourdough bread for sandwiches - just white and multigrain.
First time in Philadelphia, found a reservation online for two. Had a great seat, wonderful drinks and delicious food! My co-worker and I even had the best salted carmel cheesecake. The kettle corn was a great end as well for a to-go snack!
Was on a business trip and took my team for dinner. The atmosphere was very electrifying, the menu offerings were varied, carefully selected and the place had a great vibe.
Everyone’s consensus: Food and experience was good overall, their drinks were very well done and service was a bit slow.
Went there during a weekday for breakfast. Server was very polite and kind but not very attentive - especially because it was super quiet there since it was a weekday morning. They gave the wrong French toast (supposed to be filled with vanilla cream) and even though I declined a new order, they didn’t even offer to take a little off the check (my fault for not asking I guess). French toast was very oily due to being fried, had to ask twice for syrup to be brought over. Overall, not that impressed. We LOVE the original DC location but KOP, not as great, especially for the cost.
Hi Phillysuburbfoodie: Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am super sorry to read that not only did we mix up the French Toast that you ordered, but that the FT we served was not at all enjoyable and the service also fell short. :( This said, I would love to follow up and will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
Always a solid choice outside of Philly. It never disappoints.
Great service and food came out really fast. Waiter knew it was a business lunch and kept the interruptions down.
This was our second time going to this restaurant. This time was for lunch on a Sunday. After this visit, there is no reason to return. It took approximately 20 minutes for someone to come to our table after we were seated. Food, overall, was fair at best.
Hi JohnS: I am very sorry to read that your visit with us this past Sunday was met with a delayed start and food that was considered fair at best. :( I would love the chance to follow up and will send you a PM with my contact info. -Amy
We went for Sunday brunch. We had to do the buffet, there was no menu to order off of if you didn't want the buffet which we did not realize before sitting down. The food was good for a buffet, breakfast and lunch food, upscale. It was a little pricey for a buffet though, I think $30 per person. I'm not sure it was worth the price.
The food was very good the service was excellent and I found out about Founding Farmers by word of mouth and I’ve definitely been telling my friends and family too
I got violently ill Saturday night from the Chinese spare ribs. All your meaningless chatter about sustainable and local was a hoax. Overcharged and encouraging waiters to upcharge , your restaurant is abominable. My Sunday was ruined. Disgusting
I have been this this restaurant a few times now it’s always been great. After mentioning to the waiter about an allergy we ordered.
This place generated mixed emotions. I’m spite of having reservations, took a while to be seated. That in and of itself can be understandable but there’s not a good place to wait other than to stand in the worlds loudest atrium waiting for your name to be called.
Waitress was very nice and I think tried hard. But, the first round of drinks took forever to come out. The entrees were also quite slow in arriving.
Some food notes -
The tuna appetizer was great.
Pretzel appetizer is weird - cocktail sauce to dip? The other options are spreads instead of dips...seemed odd.
The mushroom risotto with the scallops didn’t taste like mushrooms or risotto...just al dente white rice. Scallops themselves were good.
On ambience - upholstery was dirty/stained...kinda gross. Also, laminated menus are an odd touch. Overall I felt like I was eating at a chili’s but paying twice the price.
The food and atmosphere where wonderful. It is just unfortunate that people who let their children run wild (screaming, running around, etc.) had to be seated right next to us. This restaurant and their staff is outstanding!
This was my second time dining at FF. I loved it the first time, so I decided to bring my mom there to celebrate her birthday. It was absolutely delicious from start to finish! And our server was amazing! I wish I remembered her name, but she was great! We will definitely go again!
If you’re going for their weekend brunch, then you’re truly going to get what you pay $30 per person for! All I can say is...omg! Lightly fried shrimp, grilled salmon bites, 8 cheese pasta, jambalaya, meatloaf.... I mean, the list keeps going! And I haven’t even mentioned the cheesecake squares, mini-mini donuts, cinnamon buns... It trumps ordering a boring omelet or full breakfast meal from anywhere else any day of the week. To get a taste of everything, I would suggest coming hungry and not planning to eat for the rest of the day. The earlier you come, the quieter it is. The staff is graceful and very accommodating. I’ve been to this location twice so far and haven’t had a bad experience yet.
Hi Kandi: All we can say is WOW..and of course, THANK YOU for sharing such a wonderful review with us. We appreciate it and already look forward to having you back for another great brunch experience soon. :) Please call us at (484) 808-4008 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
