Cheesecake great. Chicken and waffles- sent back uneaten- no flavor. Chicken pot pie- meh. Crab dip- greasy.
Had a good Sunday Brunch meal with my friends. The beignets are worth it... Our server was good - props to her for good service during a busy brunch service. I will say that it took 28 minutes to get my cappuccino the first time, only to have it come without any foam. Took another 20 minutes for the second one to come out, which she did comp from my bill. Shouldn't be that hard...
Fabulous food for the price!
My parents and I loved going to Founding Farmers. Each of our meals was very good, especially the pimento cheese and green goddess dip in the chips, crisps appetizer. We were also especially grateful that the hosts held our reservation for half an hour while we were waiting for the other half of our party.
Noisy restaurant. Bartender inexperienced. Waited a long time for drinks. Fair price since food was good.
We were seated within 5 min of our 5:45pm reservations and had a fabulous dinner. Pot pie, skillet cornbread, and four corn salad were all awesome! So glad we added this to our trip to DC!
Due to an event ending earlier than planned, we arrived at FF quite a bit of time before our reservation. They got us seated within a few minutes. Our food was fabulous! Our table enjoyed chicken and waffles, the meatloaf, and an avocado bacon burger. Everything was wonderful! The carrots are especially amazing as is the meatloaf. We had a good Bloody Mary and farmer tea. Our server was good, but must have had too many tables. We did not have silverware until we flagged another worker and he gave me a tea refill after my meal was finished, though I ordered it when our food arrived. We loved FF and will definitely go back!
Reservation at 10, didn’t get seated until 10:15. Otherwise, good as always. My favorite restaurant
Went there for breakfast with my significant other. We got there a few minutes early and were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time. The breakfast menu is limited, but not so limited that it makes it difficult to find something. They have a good variety from traditional breakfast foods to more creative. The service was good and the prices were reasonable.
Waited over 30 past my reservation. We arrived 20 minutes before our reservation time and was told we'd be seated on time. We were seated 35 minutes after our scheduled time.
Very good food and service!
Everyone at our table said the food was delicious. Although I have several food allergies/preferences, the waiter and chef did a fantastic job making my experience great. I felt comfortable making my request and the food was tasty! We made a reservation in advance so were seated right away. I highly recommend a reservation as there were quite a few people waiting for a table when we walked in.
Great food and service - busy restaurant
menu choices simple yet delicious variety
Everything was great!
Went here for lunch while doing some DC site seeing. It’s crowded when you first walk in and would suggest a reservation but totally worth it! The farm breads were a great appetizer to start and the chicken pot pie was probably the best I’ve ever had!
Would definitely go back.
The food was wonderful. Unfortunately, despite having a reservation, our party of 3 had to wait 40 minutes to be seated upon arrival. We were initially offered the option to "share a table" with another group at about 30 minutes. Additionally, our server extremely overcharged us for a few of the items we ordered. She was willing to fix it once we pointed it out to her, but it felt more like a ploy to take advantage of how many drinks we'd had rather than a genuine mistake.
The food here is delicious and the menu changes regularly to feature seasonal food. Unfortunately, the service wasn’t great this time (slow and forgetful) but it’s normally pretty good.
Check was rough. No good way to queue customers waiting for table. Server and food were super
Worth the trip! Lots of delicious vegetarian and omnivore options and plenty of choices for kids, as well. Tomato soup was incredible. Awesome cocktails and amazing service.
This restaurant has the BEST Fried Green Tomatoes I have ever tasted! I'm from the deep South and these were truly the best. Our server was friendly and very helpful. Everyone ordered something different and no one was disappointed.
Great place, be sure and make reservations, it's very busy!
Watery tomato soup and crostini with pimento and tomato was awful. Have eaten there several times and find the food really inconsistent.
Made reservation for 12:15pm for 3 people. We arrived and checked in at 12:05pm. Hostess said it would be 10 mins. 11 mins later I checked back in with the hostess and was told we were next. After watching 3 other groups get seated I went back to the hostess and asked if she forgot about us. She stated others had checked in before me, apologized for that and said she’d have us seated soon. We were finally seated by 12:40pm. I ordered the vegetarian meatloaf and it was burnt on the side facing the plate. After spending most of my lunch hour waiting to be sat, didn’t have any left to request a properly cooked lunches!
The service was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. There were many vegetarian options, not just one or two as we sometimes experience. It was a little loud, so not the best place if you are looking for a quiet dinner. Prices were very reasonable for a downtown DC restaurant.
Food was very good, comfort food. Service was excellent. Portions were quite large. Noise level was louder than I would have liked but will definitely go back! Can see why it’s quite popular!
Excellent meal and service. We asked for a little quieter spot. The staff did their best but this a very noisy restaurant.
Great food. Great service and ambiance. All of us reallu enjoyed the diner
Small portions, crowed for a Wednesday night, expensive for the portion sizes. Waitress was more concerned with turning the table than us.
So glad I came here. The craft cocktails are on point and well-balanced and the food is high quality. The cornbread was cakey and delicious and my chicken fried steak and sides were so flavorful. I will be back!
This is my favorite restaurant to visit in DC. I have to go every time I’m in town. Great food, ambience and service. The wait times can be ridiculous, even if you have a reservation but it’s worth it.
I have been to this restaurant multiple times and enjoyed the food. Yesterday I had the fried shrimp lunch meal and it was fantastic!
We had to reschedule multiple times and luckily were able
to make it work! Service was a little slow and our beignets came out after we’d finished our meal. The pancakes are AMAZING. I didn’t even get a chance to enjoy the French Press coffee because I was so busy scarfing down my delicious meal!! Homemade jam! The freshest eggs I have ever had! A truly wonderful meal experience which sets the bar very high!
Founding Farmers is just the worst. The entryway is ALWAYS incredibly crowded, in part because they flatly refuse to seat any diners until all are present. The host was pretty rude, the food was completely mediocre and overpriced, and it was too loud. This was at 8:30 in the morning. Terrible, just terrible.
The food was so good! The staff was very busy with additional guests’ tables, but remained pretty attentive.
Love this restaurant
My first time at the restaurant. Food was very good and fresh tasting. Crab dip and bread was amazing. Fried shrimp was very good. Only complaint, our table was under a vent that blew cold air. It was already a cold windy day outside so no fun being cold inside as well. Lucky the air would time on and off so there were times when the air was not blowing. The restaurant was very crowded so no other table to move to.
I have been to Founding Fathers many times and it has generally been a good experience. This time was different. I could not believe at how crowded it was just to get in the door. In addition, it took a while to get seated, even with noon reservations (they overbooked). Service was slow and they brought the cornbread with the meals - so we went from no food to all the food barely fit on the small table. The waiter seemed competent, but he was handling quite a few tables. It will be a while before I return.
I got French toast. It was pretty bad. I have never seen deep fried french toast before. Location of restaurant was good though
Delicious food! Beignets were to die for!
We had reservation at 8 15pm but didn’t get seated until 8 45pm. The manager was great though. Gave us a free starter. Food was great. Service very good.
The restaurant was crowded but fun. The food was fabulous. There are options for everyone. The service was attentive and excellent.
