About Founding Farmers - DC
Founding Farmers, the Greenest Restaurant in DC, is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch.
While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn’t mean we know every farm, and that doesn’t mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we’re working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values.
We’re serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.

Founding Farmers - DC Ratings and Reviews
I had a friend visiting from out of town. We were having an excellent time and the server was fantastic. Unfortunately, there was a hair in the chicken of the chicken and waffles dish. While they replaced the dish, I was surprised that it wasn’t comped. I love this place, go often, and consider FF a go to place when I have visitirs from out of town. The resolution was dissapointing.
Everything was wonderful, however, you are squeezed in so be prepared to be on a double date with the tables next to you. It's our second time there and the food and service are great. Definitely would recommend! The seating is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
I’ve dined here more than 20 times over the past few years and the food and service was always excellent. Tonight, however, was awful on all fronts. I ordered one of the signature dishes and it was dry and tough, 20 minutes went by before I could get our server’s attention to order a different meal. A table server dropped the New meal by, and not only was the meal incorrect, but they dropped it on the table with no silverware. Another 15 minutes went by before I could get anyone’s attention and then the manager came by to say, “sorry, I didn’t learn about things sooner. Here’s your bill - I made sure you weren’t charged for the first meal you ordered.” Awful all around. If I wanted terrible food and service, I’d go to a chain restaurant.
My wife and I went to the FF in Tyson's a year ago and discovered their amazing brunch buffet so we were excited to go here. As the manager was seating us, we inquired about it and he told us that this is the only location of FF that doesn't have the buffet. We were, of course, disappointed but decided to eat anyway. The food was excellent! And, the manager sent over a complimentary order of beignet's since we didn't know about not having the buffet. Great service and the wait staff was on point! Will definitely come back!
Disappointing...food was ordinary and service was terrible. Returned appetizer plates that we received that were still dirty. I think there was only one bottle of hot sauce in the entire restaurant as various waiters kept taking it from our table to others and we'd have to continually ask for it to be returned to us. Our drinks went to waste as they were not well prepared. All in all not worth the expense if your intent is to enjoy a meal. If you want to be in a crowded, loud joint to be seen and take a few pics, this is the place but it will cost you.
Great food, good drinks, though a bit hectic or chaotic on a Friday night for dinner. Highly recommend. Steak, Shrimp and lobster risotto - What's not to love. Warning: Don't order the Beignets after dinner or you will be back first thing the next morning for more with your coffee; They are Cafe du Monde worthy.
Thanks for the great meal at a fantastic price.
Good food. We had four different entrees (bass, scallops, steak salad, skirt steak) and two apps (corn bread and bacon lollis). Couple specialty cocktails hit the mark and a dark spiced craft brew was tasty. Service was attentive and pleasant. We could speak to each other, but the place is on the louder side. Overall, very acceptable and a decent value. Bill before tip was $180s which is reasonable given we each had a drink and shared a couple apps.
We did not get seated until 20 mins after our scheduled reservation. It was not reassuring to hear that some people waited 45 minutes past their scheduled time. Craft beers and cocktails are great. High energy place. Comfort food is awesome, steaks/prime rib are weak (avoid).
