Founding Farmers - DC
While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn’t mean we know every farm, and that doesn’t mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we’re working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values.
We’re serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.
We try to come or Founding Farmers every time we visit DC. Such amazing service and good, always a great experience!

Don’t bother making a reservation they kept us waiting 30 minutes and then it took 20 minutes to get our drinks
My mom was visiting and absolutely loved this place. Breakfast is consistently delicious! Beignets are a must-try. Make sure you have a reservation for weekend breakfast! Walk-ins had a 1.5 hour wait time at 11:30, but we were seated right away.
Wonderful breakfast, incredible taste, coffee was great. Portions could be a little bigger, but getting a side to share was perfect!
We were celebrating our anniversary and were so delighted with FF! The fresh bread appetizer was delicious and our meals were amazing! Absolutely delightful staff. It wasn’t a quiet, romantic spot-but it was perfect for us!
Great food, great drinks, great service, great value. Salt crusted steak, twice baked potato and an old fashioned cannot be beat.

it was a fun atmosphere. I felt we could have been convinced a little more on the dishes. 🤷🏽♀️! Pricey but a fun environment to spend time with family.
The food is absolutely great, and the staff is very pleasant and accommodating.
The experience @ FF was Very favorable until I was signing the bill and a mouse appeared under my table!! At first I thought I was seeing things, then it returned a few moments later. Needless to say, that greatly dampened my experience.
I told the Server immediately. He was quite concerned, however management did not respond.
Great place! Service by Nathan was outstanding. Food was excellent although my pork chop was over seasoned. Will recommend and return!
I love the menu and it's concept, tons of delicious food. I would frequent more often for lunch than dinner because it is so loud, too loud to talk without shouting. The staff were great, although our server was slammed.

One of my top 10 places to eat in DC. Love to take visitors ere - they always enjoy it.
The shrimp and grits dish was outstanding! The service was awesome and I'll certainly be back to try other dishes.
The food was excellent, but the service this time was only OK (e.g., there was some confusion between waiters as to what we had ordered).
Keep in mind that you need to make a reservation well in advance - it's almost always fully booked.

The food was delicious and came fast. The only thing that surprised me was that they didn’t seem at have beer.
Breakfast is wonderful. It is like being at home. They even have grits.

The food was not good. It is way overpriced for what you get, quality and quantity. The only decent part of our experience was the server. It was actually my Birthday, so it was extra disappointing when I had to send my burger back because it was overcooked. My husband was done with his meal by the time I received my dish. I will never go back to Founding Farmers. I hope our server ends up a better restaurant, I believe he is too good for that place!
This was a very disappointing founding farmers location. The servers were just sitting around chatting and not working with customers. Drinks and food were constantly forgotten and we were never checked up on. Food was very bland for a venue like this
This was my first time trying the Impossible Burger and it was wonderful. Also our server was absolutely excellent.
We had Sunday Brunch reservations for 1:45 and were not seated until 2:15. There is no comfortable place to wait. Food was very good and all staff were very courteous, affable, and professional. Too bad they cannot be more accurate booking reservations.
We had a 1:15 brunch reservation. We were not seated until 2:10. When we were finally seated the hostess accused us of trying to take someone else’s reservation. The hostess was incredibly rude and confrontational. The manager was apologetic, but the dining experience was just ok. The food was not great, but the overall experience is what ruined this restaurant for me.
The food was amazing, however, we waited over 30 mins to be seated even though we had a reservation.
My waitress kept forgetting items. I asked for a mimosa and coffee when first seated, I didn’t get my coffee til the end of my meal. On top of that she served a table that arrived after us first. Horrible service and I come here all the time and know that is not the standard. Definitely think she needed rest, or coaching on how to manage multiple tables. This was not the best birthday brunch for me.
Be sure to rsvp table Saturday night at least if you plan to enjoy Sunday brunch. This place gets packed.
Servers have great hospitality. I recommend the bougettes and chili hash!
I would recommend a reservation if you're planning on weekend brunch. The atmosphere and food are delicious, service is impeccable. Would definitely go again

We were disappointed with our Sunday breakfast. The restaurant is very highly rated but we found it disappointing. We had reservations for opening at 8:30 am. I understand not seating guests until they're ready, but they didn't unlock the doors until 8:30. It is February and it was 32 degrees. There were 12-15 people waiting outside. Allowing people in to the waiting area would have been a nice gesture.
Everyone in our dining party ordered eggs benedict and everyone's eggs were so overcooked it was like hard boiled yokes. The crab was just stuffing and dry. The waiter seemed unhappy and did not come back to refill coffee or ask how our food was. For downtown DC prices, it was not great food. Next time we'll look for other options.
We had an 8:15 reservation and checked in at 7:58. Party of 4. Others came in at 8:05, 8:10, etc., with parties of 4 and 5, and I heard them say they had an 8:15 reservation. They were seated. I had to ask at 8:30 when we would be seated and the response was, "We are just waiting on tables to pay." I asked again at 8:45 and got the same response. We were finally seated right at 9. The food was good and it's a cool place, but overpriced. Our bill was over $100 and that included one beer my husband had, a bowl of kid's pasta with marinara with a side of fries, a french dip with fries, and two cheeseburgers. They swiped the card instead of inserting the chip, three times, which prompted a decline and fraud alert messages from BBT . It took another 20 minutes for the manager to straighten out the server's error. Another 20 minutes on the phone with BBT's fraud division to release one transaction, cancel two, and reverse the block on the card. Happy Birthday to my husband.
Saturday night visit which was so had to wait for our reservation. When seated it took 20 minutes for drinks to arrive and another ten for the food. I can understand that the kitchen was busy but the plate and the food were stone cold. Waitress could only make excuses as to why the kitchen and bar staff let down the service. This is the worst meal we have had in a while, and could be avoided if there was some quality control!
We had a large party of 20, celebrating two birthdays. They managed to put us in an area by ourselves at two large tables. Food was delicious and the service was excellent. Highly recommend!
Great ribs. Wife had the sausage and mushrooms. Both were awesome
