    We went twice in 2 days. The first visit we had a 1-hour wait, no reservation. The second visit we made reservations with no wait time. Staff and food were wonderful both times! We will be back!

    Disappointed with on eof my favorite spots in DC - I always try to visit FF DC when in town and last night the service was definitely moderate and the food bland and served up cold. Don't know what happened but I hope it's an aberration.

    I am a little disappointed in the food - something has changed and I cannot pinpoint what it is. The cornbread was flat and not very flavorful. While the salmon was good, the green beans were a bit hard for me to chew as they were extremely crunchy - maybe I need to ask for them to be well done. Again, it has been a while visiting Founding Farmers, but it just wasn't the same.

    Food was good as usual but service was not really up to standards. I’ve been here 3 times and based on the service, may choose somewhere else in the future. Took 15 minutes to get our sparkling water, my boyfriend sat without at refill on his lemonade for equally as long.

    Had a reservation for 7:30 pm. Was told upon checking in they were running 10 minutes behind. Ok, no problem. Then after 15 minutes of not being called, checked in again and was told we were still a couple reservations away from being called and tables were still being cleaned. Expressed that we made a reservation for a reason that we had a show to get to. No response or apology. Another 5-10 minutes go by and again the hostess says the tables are being cleaned, she is again not apologetic or showing any empathy. Other people are now being called ahead of us. Didn’t get seated until after 8 pm. Food was good. Waitress was good. One meal showed up 5 minutes after the rest of the party. Drinks took a very long time. Overall they were obviously not on their A game but could’ve made the experience a little better by caring.

    This one breaks my heart. Founding Farmers has been a favorite spot to dine every time I visit DC, but I was extremely disappointed this time. The food is delicious and creative, and the house-brand cocktails and wine are delightful. But it’s always been a bit of a challenge in terms of crowds, noise, and the front-of-house host service. Our experience was worse than usual this time. We had a 6pm reservation (on a Saturday night) and we arrived a few minutes before 6. We were told that they were “running behind by about 20 minutes” and the crowd in the very small lobby area certainly was thick. There is no seating area, and I know from previous experience that there isn’t a good standing area either - one will be constantly pushed from one side to the other by waiters, hosts, people coming in to pick up take-out orders, etc. I was traveling this time with my 80-year old mother, and I knew that standing up for 20 minutes under those conditions would not be good. I lurked around the (very crowded) bar area, and eventually found an empty bar stool where she could sit. As I walked around, I noticed that there were a fair number of tables, recently turned and ready for seating, sitting open for 5-10 minutes. This inefficiency by the hosting staff clearly is the cause of the delays. Unfortunately, things didn’t get better once we sat down. We ordered a bottle of the “house” label Chardonnay. After a long wait, an employee (not our server) delivered three mini-carafes of wine. We tried to send it back - we ordered a bottle, not three glasses. Eventually our server came over and explained that the “house” wine is on tap, not in bottles, and that is how it is served. Strange, but fine I suppose - if we had been informed of that, either in the menu or by the server. The final straw was that our entree was delivered far too early - we were barely halfway through the salad we’d ordered - so the food went cold before we could eat it. Might never return.

    Had a 5:15 reservation for 8. Didn’t get seated until 5:30. Ordered bottles for the table which took a while to come, food took a while to come. Our server only came over to bring food, never checked on us. Another server check in to help. The food was delicious but they are clearly short staffed. If you have to be somewhere plan accordingly, we had to eat fast to make it to the Kennedy Center on time.

    Food and service were great . We had a 5:00 reservation and we’re on a tight schedule to attend an event . We had to wait a half hour to be seated not sure why we made reservation when they were telling walk-ins there was a half hour wait.

    I’ve been looking forward to trying this restaurant it left a little lacking. It was our anniversary and we arrived for our reservation and it was a madhouse at the front with no clear place to stand and just in Everyone’s way. The hostess told us it would be a couple minutes so we just stood right next to the podium. 15 minutes went by so I went up to check and she said that someone had called our name and since we didn’t respond they took us out of cue. I said well she was trying that hard since we are standing literally next to the hostess stand. I noticed The lady calling people’s names was extremely quiet in a very loud environment and did t put alot of effort into finding her there she was calling which is why I went to check. They could really benefit from some sort of intercom system. When we were finally seated the server was great but the the meals were just ok for us. I ordered the shrimp and crab risotto and while the flavor was good, I pulled no less than 10 shells out of my mouth and finally gave up halfway through. Overall the prices were decent. May try a different location next time.

    Restaurant was way overbooked. We had a reservation and they sat us about 40 minutes late, we weren't the only ones there that happened to. Promised us we were the next table 4 different times and continued to seat other people in front of us 🤷‍♀️. They were still taking walk-ins even though they were so behind so the waiting area was incredibly packed. Just poorly organized all around. When we finally did sit food came at a good pace. Okay food, definitely not worth the extra wait.

    At dinner, the quality just wasn’t there. $45 for a burger/fries and 1 cocktail. Burger was raw. Fries were fine, but pretty burned with wildly inconsistent cuts. My friend’s steak salad was raw and grey-ish. She also paid $45. On the other hand, the service was quite good at a very busy time.

    Our waiter was a great great guy… I do feel sad for the people down there that have to smell that marijuana all over. I think that will eventually make a big impact keep up the great work I hope they get legislation to move that stuff out of the city!!

    Ate dinner as a couple; Kevin was our waiter—-he was excellent! My wife had the spatchcocked chicken (very good), and I had the short ribs (excellent). Service was great; very efficient, informative, and smooth. Really appreciate that they are BYOB for any wine not on their wine list. Be sure to get a reservation!

    The food was delicious! I had the butternut squash ravioli and my husband had the sausage and mushroom gnocchi. Our server Abby was awesome! And even though we showed up an hour early from our reserved time, we were able to get a table within 20 minutes.

    It seems the quality at Founding Farmers has diminished over the years. The food was generic (nothing like the farm to table experience in its early years) and the quality of food does not compare to the price tag. I had a cauliflower steak. The (shredded) green beans on the side reminded me of a school cafeteria (frozen beans, no seasoning). Another in our party had the fried chicken salad which was quite salty. My "mule" cocktail came in a regular glass (not the traditional copper mug); although, it was tasty. Sadly the establishment no longer lives up to its reputation.

    The food was average. I had the Farmhouse Platter. I ordered because I had a few years ago and enjoyed. This time I only enjoyed burgers and corn. The chili dog had no flavor and ribs were also not too flavorable. My drink from bar was good.

    After going to Founding Farmers a handful of times, it is okay. It is consistently super packed, but it seems understaffed. Staff is nice and friendly, but the service is generally quite slow. The food is hit or miss.

    Hard to ruin breakfast but they did. Cold and raw potatoes and undercooked sausage.
