Disappointing Brunch Experience – Not Worth the Hype We came to Founding Farmers for brunch as a party of five, expecting a great experience based on the reviews but unfortunately, it was underwhelming from start to finish. Three of us ordered coffee when we sat down, and I asked for cream. The server responded with “Americano,” which we all assumed was the only coffee option. When the drinks arrived (after quite a wait), they were cold, and I noticed a red bracelet from the runner dangling over one of the cups—definitely not something you want near your drink. When we finally got the server’s attention to ask for replacements and a refill, we were told that drip coffee was available, but it would be an extra charge. It felt a bit scammy not to clarify that upfront. The food didn’t make up for the service. Scrambled eggs were cold and runny, and the brûléed grapefruit barely had any brûlée. For the price we paid, it was a letdown across the board. Out of all the restaurants we’ve visited in D.C., this one was by far the most disappointing. Definitely not worth the hype.

The food was very good and I really loved the crab and shrimp risotto. Unfortunately, the restaurant was extremely busy with large parties, so we sat without water or seeing a server for an extended period of time. When the server did arrive, she apologized for the delay and explained the situation.

Thank you for your feedback, Andy! We are glad you enjoyed the crab and shrimp risotto. We sincerely apologize for the delay in service and appreciate your patience and understanding. We hope to welcome you back for a smoother experience next time! -Tiffany
