   We wanted a more casual dining experience so we chose forte vs the cedar room. The restaurant was very bright for an 8 PM dining experience. Our server was nice enough, but very hard to understand. While we expected a more casual experience, we were disappointed at the lack of attention to detail. My mother’s wine glass was dirty with a bunch of lipstick along the rim (server replaced the glass for us), and we discovered an elastic band in the broccolini side we ordered (the server apologized and took the dish away half eaten). When we were clearly done our meal and had asked for the cheque, the server said “you can take some free dessert from the buffet to apologize for the lipstick and elastic if you want”. At this point we were not interested in dessert and not impressed at the attempt to make our experience better. I would just expect more, especially when we are paying $30+ for food each. Everything considered it was a very poor experience.

   Very over priced average food with indifferent service. They charged a premium for a thanksgiving dinner and the turkey was very dry.

   Our server was great. He took wonderful care of us, even though he was only filling in for the weekend. We forget his name, but he shared with us that he is from Germany. Ryan, Eric ?? , thank you for making our dinner a memorable experience.

   We reserved dinner at Forte to celebrate our wedding anniversary & made the booking about a month before our arrival. We had heard good things so we were looking forward to a great night. Unfortunately what we experienced was an evening of poor service and ultimately a restaurant that was clearly too busy and disorganized to handle guests with appropriate service. It started when the hostess told us they were running late, we weren’t too worried, but then after about 20 minutes she tells us to follow her and seats us at the first table in the door- essentially the worst seat in the house as its view is the waiting area- and she actually said to us ‘unfortunately this is the only table we have, sorry it’s right in the hallway, but I heard it’s a special occasion so happy anniversary’. We asked if we could wait a bit longer for a better table as we had made the reservation in advance, and flagged that it was a special occasion. She said they were just trying to seat everyone before they closed at 9pm so we couldn’t move. It was hard for the night to go up from here, the server was too busy, the food was just ok. We did enjoy the papardelle and Cesar salad, the garlic toast which was recommended was just a whack of dry bread and overall the food was not something we would return for. Shocked that a restaurant at this beautiful hotel could not have tried a bit harder to make a special occasion a good one. We will not be returning.

   The food was adequate, but the ambiance was not what we were expecting for the location and price. The restaurant is called Forte, that should probably have been our first clue that it would not be a quiet, romantic dinner. It was extremely bright, loud and the servers were running around. It seemed they had too many tables per server. The service was slow, and we couldn't wait to get out of there. Unfortunate for the amount we paid, and that it was an anniversary dinner. In hindsight I would recommend getting room service, or planning to be at the spa for dinner if you are looking for a nice quiet dinner.

   Most of us had enjoyable meals however those who had the Alberta beef were disappointed. No barmen that night so cocktails took a while though they were still good. Noise level in restaurant is too high. Decor is trendy and generally food is very good.

   Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meals which were the Pappardelle with wild mushrooms, the butternut squash ravioli, and the steelhead trout. I tried a bite of everything and I'm still dreaming of that trout. Our group of 3 was seated near the front with a view of the fire pit and activity outside. The noise level was what you would expect in a modern, all hard surfaces restaurant these days. The service was under duress that particular evening having dealt with a medical emergency right when we arrived at around 6:30. We thought they handled the tragedy with speed, candor, and grace. All things considered the staff held up remarkably well. They tried their best to accommodate arriving parties when they could have shut the restaurant for the evening to allow their staff to cope and process the events. Other reviews criticizing the service may be unaware of the extraordinary circumstances under which Forte was operating that evening. We appreciated how they handled the situation and were in no position to criticize the staff for anything that particular evening.
