One of the best restaurants in San Diego. The food and staff are second to none. The cocktails in the bar are original and delicious. The Chef's Counter experience is not to be missed.
Excellent food, great service. We sat at the chef’s counter and it was fun and exciting to observe the kitchen in action and see how they prepare all of the food.
It was a really great restaurant with good food, service and a cool atmosphere. My only complaint is that it’s pricey, 30+ for chicken entree puts it in the fu fu category for me. I would definitely go again.
Outstanding food and service. Love the small plates. Highly recommend. Try sister restaurant Trust as well. These guys and gals have it going on. A restaurant for locals rather than tourist crowd of Little Italy and Gas Lamp. Thank you! We’ll be back again.
Very good meal. Great service.
Sat in the kitchen. So amazing. Chicken fried quail was crazy good.
Fort Oak was wonderful in every way! The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was outstanding. It was a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday and we will be back often. Highly recommended!
The food was average. Service was good. Ambience was nice. My chicken dish was not warm enough and the fish dish was too salty for our tastes.
We would not go back again. Just blah food.
The food was delicious! Wonderful flavors and preparation. The wine was also excellent. I would definitely return, as I am anxious to try other items on the menu. The venue was also lovely, with wonderful heaters for outdoor dining.
The brunch exceeded my expectations. Creative and delicious menu options. The service and atmosphere was excellent. Definitely coming back here to make my way through every single item on the menu.
Great brunch meal and service was fantastic. The ambiance was lovely and the restaurant and staff was very accommodating to our party, including a toddler. Food was excellent.
Absolutely! The food was amazing! It sounded so simple, but it was made with perfection. Every dish we tried was delicious and unique!
Excellent all around. Highly recommend!
Fort Oak never disappoints. We did plates to share starting with: the sourdough bread, moving to the fried quail, indulging in the goat cheese cavatelli, the pork belly, the burrata, and ending with a scoop of almond/date ice cream. There were two of us and we were both unbelievably happy and ready to book our next reservation.
Beautiful lunch with my best friend. Carefully thought out menu that is clean, simple and flavorful. One of the most tastiest steaks I’ve ever enjoyed! Two forks up! 🍴🍴
Fort Oak is a great addition to the SD restaurant scene. Creative and delicious dishes served in nicely designed space.
Next time we go, which indeed we will, I would skip desserts. They were good but limited and not a whole lot creative. Nothing bad but savory items had lot more varieties that we all liked.
Awesome food concept; lots of sharing plates available. Lively vibe, super chic decor
The service was awesome and food was great again for our second visit. The only downside is that the restaurant is chilly due to the open wall.
one of the top 3 restaurants I have been to in my 48 years of life!
All that we ordered to share was fabulous, we had the caulilini, mussels, scallop aguachile and then shared the pork chop. Finished with the stone fruit dessert and the chocolate mousse cake with ice cream
This place is phenomenal! From the bar to the table, everything was perfect! Drinks were delicious and the food was amazing! Must haves the ham and the 45 day aged steak!
Wonderful food! The scallops packed way too much heat, but our server gladly let us substitute another dish. It is very loud inside the restaurant.
The food at Fort Oak is fantastic! We like the decor but, on a Saturday night, the noise level made this less enjoyable. We just don't like shouting across a table to be heard. That, truly, is our only complaint about this restaurant.
Great, service, food, and ambiance at the chefs table
Fabulous food that was almost undone by the inability to hear my friend without shouting. I hope they will do something to improve the decibel level....seems like it could be an easy fix. I hope to go back!
The Chef's counter is a must do! We got to see most dishes go out before we made our decision on what to order. Everything we had was beyond superb. We loved the dynamic kitchen and watching the dishes come to life. The Chef's counter experience will give you appreciation for the culinary arts!
One of the best places I've eaten at in San Diego!
Fantastic food. Great service. Diverse menu and great dessert.
Fort Oak was a nice place to grab some food. I would say it fell a little short when being compared to its sister restarting Trust in the flavor department, but overall a good experience.
Excellent food and service. Great atmosphere.
Always a fantastic experience in so many ways. Server Richard was outstanding. He was very informative in explaining to our friends who had not eaten here before the way the menu best works. We shared Mussels and Clams which we love. Great broth and grilled bread. Shared Stone Fruit salad and 2 orders of bread. Cocktails never disappoint! Waygu and Rosti potatoes a standout. Branzino always fresh and flavorful. Love that smoky charred taste on every plate. Our fourth time in a month and we will be back! All the wait servers are truly best in class. Whoever trains them is doing an amazing job.
We loved Trust when we went so we excited to try out Fort Oak. It was great! the place is so cool, the cocktails were perfect, and a few of those items i will be craving for a long time. This is now one of our go to spots for small plates.
The food and service was fantastic! Went for brunch and had the egg white omelet with ricotta cheese...delicious!
Was not thrilled - too much hype. Arrived about 45 min early and sat at bar, which was nice and staff there was on top of things. Hostess said if a table opens up earlier she would get us in. Well at our reservation time, we had to go to her. Bar was not super crowded and there were tables out there before our reservation time. Get seated and took some time for waiter to come over. When he did stop by, explained the menu. We ordered 3 small plates, one of them being bread. That you pay for. It took 25 - 30 min for the bread to come out. Unbelievable. Other tables didn't seem to have to wait and their food was coming out. Husband enjoyed his meal more than mine (branzino), my halibut seemed dry and salty. I enjoyed the rice and asparagus that came with the halibut more than the fish. Also put in it was our anniversary and nothing. Not even a happy anniversary. Not sure why restaurants ask this when they don't do anything with this. Best part was table next to us had a fly or some type of bug in her drink. Was really disappointed after everything I read, was excepting something way better after everything I read. Lackluster anniversary dinner.
Always receive exceptional service and outstanding food every time I've gone to Fort Oak. Thank you to all of the staff!
We had an amazing time. The bartenders were super cool and I think part the reason I am giving this place a 5 star is because of them. Yes the food is tasty and delicious but being able to talk and chat at the bar makes much more exciting.
One of the best overall dining experiences that we have had recently in San Diego. Great new food options, fun environment and excellent service.
