Kathryn was very accommodating and helpful, as I was on crutches and needed a seat out of the way. We love bolognese night on Tuesday! What a nice surprise to meet Christian tonight in Montgomery too! Forno is a great addition to our part of town!
This was our first time trying the Montgomery location of Forno, and it did not disappoint! Our server was fantastic and we all enjoyed our various dishes (I'm a sucker for a good tagliatelle bolognese!) Great to have this option not very far from where we live.
Delicious food, lovely environment, nice remake of the interior. We will look forward to coming back
There is a great variety to choose from and many of the dishes are unusual. The deconstructed caprese starter and the cod entree served on bed of sautéed peppers and onions was fantastic.
My only suggestion for the restaurant is to remove a table or two from the crowded dining space. The tables are so close together that the servers can barely move around the room and when you scoot your chair in or out, you run into the diners next to you.
Ok restaurant but the food did not impressed me. Ordered a gnocchi and in my opinion there was a strong taste of onion and i love onions. But it was too much
Also saw a lady returning her plate bc she did not like it. I think she ordered a salmon
The food is good. With the new Brick Oven made the space is a little crowded.
Our server was so friendly, informative, and accommodating! Food was great. Tables were very close together, hard for servers to get through or weave through to get to restroom. A bit loud but still able to carry on a conversation. Will definitely go back
Amazing food. Horrible service. They must have been short staffed as we waited over 30 min to place our order and had to ask repeatedly for water. It was also loud and crowded. So sad as we LOVED the food. Been there twice and it was the same experience.
Our Server made our ding experience great!! Not to mention the food. Excellent restaurant.
Meet friends and had a good evening. Went on a Thursday night and was crowded. A little noisy. Server was different and not great at remembering pepper mill for the salad and cheese to put on top of pasta. Food was VERY good. I had a pork chop that was split and pounded out that was awesome. Just a huge portion! I had 2 more meals out of it.
Great food and service. We were seated just outside of the kitchen so there was a lot of movement around our table. Would have preferred to be seated around the perimeter of the restaurant.
The eggplant parm was intensely salty and overcooked. The soup was salty also. We asked for a quiet table and were placed in a noisy spot even though other quieter spots appeared open.
This is one of Cincinnati's treasures and may be the best Italian restaurant in the area. Located in the heart of Montgomery Forno has a casual, yet sophisticated atmosphere. The food was incredible and their wine list is deep and appropriate. We plan on returning soon.
When we first visited their Hyde Park location, it was ...okay. But, we have it another shot at their second locale in Montgomery and were pleasantly surprised. Michelle our server was wonderful and the food yummy. We will be back!
Food is delicious. smell of the building is heavy. Service was great.
We feel the new location in Montgomery is even better than the original. Easy parking, fun vibe and great shareable nibbles. Arugala pizza with truffle oil was an amazing surprise and enjoyed immensely. Mushroom risotto was so yummy but too rich for one person to eat. Anti pasta for 2 was good for 4 people, too. It’s so nice to have a casual and yummy place to go nearby. Christopher, the chef, stopped by and was hilarious and friendly. Interior is warm, but have heard some of the tables are too close together.
Loved this little spot! The layout is better, in my opinion than the one in Hyde Park. Much more private feel to tables and booth and the bar is not in the main dining room. Foods was excellent. The artichoke soup is not to be missed and you can’t go wrong with a pizza from their ovens. Chef came around to check on us and we chatted a bit about his time in Florence, Italy. Super friendly staff. A great spot, will be back many times!
Great ambiance and nicely decorated...octopus was great...but the rest was slightly disappointing...the pizza was supposed to be slightly crunchy...the cheese was not completely melted, the pizza crust was great but the remaining was soggy...the gnocchi were probably homemade but looked like they were just rolled...Italians would scream shame at the shape! Not impressed
The food was good. Wine pours are a little "light" though. Overall it was a nice place to go. I have been to better Italian restaurants here in Cincinnati, but I would go back.
Great food and service.
Great food, great service, it was a little loud but besides that, we will definitely be coming back!
Forno is one of the most authentic Italian restaurants in Cincinnati. We had the Cod which was delicious and the bolognese. Their eggplant parm on the sides menu is excellent and I am a full-blooded Italian who is picky about eggplant! The service was good. It can get loud especially at the tables in the center of the room. We sat in a booth which is a bit quieter.
So glad we have a Forno in Montgomery! The atmosphere is comfortable and the food is outstanding! In fact, I think our meal here was better than we’ve had in Hyde Park. The octopus was perfectly cooked and tender. The beans and vegetables with the tuna had the perfect balance of texture and seasoning. Christian was the quintessential chef-host making all the tables feel welcome. This is definitely our go-to neighborhood gem!
This place is wonderful. It’s quite noisy, but you somewhat get used to it.
Awesome as always...our new go to whenever friends come into town. Christian does a great job of making everyone feel welcome and the staff attends to every need. Always an enjoyable meal in a very comfortable atmosphere.
My wife and I wanted to go to a place reasonably close that served good food. We were very pleased with our decision. The food was good and the service excellent. We definitely will return.
Dining room very noisy and tables stacked on top of each other. Chose to eat in bar instead.
Amazing atmosphere, outstanding food and excellent service. Top notch all around. The food was authentic and delicious and prepared wonderfully. I would definitely recommend Forno to all my friends. A great new addition to Montgomery!
Christian was such a gracious host. We loved Cinque, and now Forno even better!
As usual, Cristian delivers the best Italian in Cincinnati in his newest venue. We were fortunate to have him personally attend the the needs of every table. Terrific job by all!
First impression is good, you walk in and the place is lively - love the neighborhood feel. Then, after making a specific phone call to the restaurant asking for a table in the window area, which they said was no problem, they put us by the kitchen. We asked to move, they were barely accommodating. Server was slow to come to the table, then we felt rushed to make selections. Asked if we wanted bread, but did not state there was a charge. The wine selection was nice BUT the pours incredibly chintzy. Maybe 4 ounces in a glass that was $10.00 a glass. Meatballs were very good, pizza’s were just ok. Bowl of pasta - $17.00!!! And not even a big bowl. Then it took forever to cash out. I have been to the Forno in Hyde Park, it is good and the service is very good. This experience makes me not want to return to this locale.
Enjoyed our first visit to the Montgomery location. Loved that the chef visited with us twice!
Always great food when it was Cinque and now Forno. But in the main dining room with the pizza oven/bar in the corner, the room temperature was probably 80F+, to the point where our server is sweating and we're roasting. Got to get that figured out.
Great new addition to our dining experience. Still in shakedown as a new place but better each time. It is always great seeing Christian in the restaurant.
It’s lightning years from the Hyde park one. The first time I call to change my reservation, the manager was Ext rude and told that if she made changes to my reservation I would have to eat in an hour.
I decided to go back on a Sunday. The manager was a little rude and looked like she was working in the kitchen instead of receiving customers. The food was ok, but not at the level of the Hyde Park one.
I don’t think we will back to Montgomery.
After several wonderful dinners at Forno Hyde Park, we were disappointed in the food and the noise level during our first visit to the Montgomery location. We’re hoping for an improvement during our next visit.
I was a big fan of Cinque which occupied this space earlier. Owned by the same family group I felt confident id like it.
The food was great and the service was also terrific. Some of the dishes we tried were better than others and some presentations by Cinque were preferred. The gnocchi here is very good but the gnocchi at Cinque was amazing. Forno has some delicious bruschetta and the one we tried that we really enjoyed was the arugula pesto. Outstanding. The cheese with honey was yummy, but more predictable. Swordfish was very good and the sauce presented with it was delicious but I do think the sauce overpowered the fish. Desserts were very good too and I don't usually eat it. The lemon tart was excellent if also predictable. The basil pannacotta was a surprise and very delicious.
It was Saturday and the room was full. I found it to be very noisy and the audience was a typical upper middle class suburb crowd. A little too over the top. Lots of middle aged blond women with Husbands whose bellys extend over their belts. To much wine, maybe.
What a great evening! It was a big birthday for my hubby and the restaurant knew that. They started off with a Prosecco Vigna toast for us - how festive! We liked it so much several of us continued to sip it throughout the evening. We shared the antipasta and it was a delightful sample of meats and cheeses. Two had the pork chop and it was delicious - and huge!!! Others had the spaghetti pomodoro and the meatballs and gnocchi. All excellent. The chef then surprised my husband with a specially made dessert! Very attentive service! Can’t wait to try again!
