Everything was good except the Heir loom tomato dish. Bread tasted old and dry. We think that is the best single dish in Cincinnati, but this time it was not prepared well. Bread wasn’t grilled and it was cold. We love the restaurant otherwise!
Limited to no options for guests with dietary restrictions, and not very accommodating to those with restrictions
First visit, we had great food, great service, but an overall not great experience. Even with reservations they sat us right near the door. It was a rainy, cold evening and the door would not shut completely, so all of us near the door were freezing. Also because we were sitting right near the door that meant that everyone who was waiting for a table was bumping into us or overwhelming us with their conversations.
We loved the food and our waiter was great. I would wait for a table away from the door next time.
This is our go-to restaurant for a fun evening out, whether it's dinner with the family, an evening out with friends, or just "I don't feel like cooking". The food, service and atmosphere never disappoint.
I've been to Forno in the past and the meals were outstanding. However, last night all of the food was under seasoned and overall pretty bland. The best part of the meal was the arugula salad.
One of my most favorite restaurants in Cincinnati. Amazing service as well as food is incredible
Forno is ALWAYS a hit! So glad we have this gem nearby.
My wife and I went for the first time on a Friday night for dinner. It wasn’t very busy when we arrived but took close to 10min before our server came over and take a drink order. The food was mixed. Wild boar ragu was fantastic but was told they had great pizza too. We ordered a margherita pizza. In hind sight we should have sent it back. It was cold, cheese was not melted, and dough was underdone in the middle. One of the worst pizzas I have had. Overall left very disappointed. Needs work on service and food was inconsistent.
Food is very good and authentic. Only place I can get Tripe.
Beer selection could stand some lighter offerings, Pilsner, etc.
I wish there had been some gluten free vegan options
Best Old Fashioned I've ever had! Kudos to the bartender ~ she's excellent!
Excellent food, wine and service! Would highly recommend.
Great tasting food. Portions too small and overpriced. Nickle and dimed for items.
Best meal I've had in years. The mushroom risotto was just right. We had the best eggplant parmigiana this side of Italy. A little noisy for our taste but did not detract from our conversation. I'll be back and bring some friends.
The food at Forno is always outstanding, as is the service. If I had any complaint, and it's a very small one, is they pretty much pack you in. It's a small space with limited seating, so you are very close to whoever is seated next to you.
Got their at 7:30 and they had run out of a few things and had no clean wine glasses.
Food is good and service is solid.
Delicious food; a little salty, but that’s personal preference I suppose. Noise level high, hard to hear the person next to you. Service was a bit slow and they forgot things like silverware (until the food came); overall a really good neighborhood hot spot. One critique is that they seem to do just as much carry out (if not more) as dine in. We noticed (as we were sitting at the bar) they seemed to be stretched thin in this way.
Just an observation.
We have dined at Forno maybe a dozen times and loved it.
I'll admit Sotto is my #1 favorite for Italian in Cincinnati, but I frequent Forno because the food is just as good, but less pricy, and more local for me than downtown. The pastas are so good I almost always get two and take home the leftovers. The Arrabiatta is spicy and amazing and the Bolognese is rich and comforting. I usually sub Gnocci instead of the Tagliatelle. Try it out, and enjoy!
Very ok food. Good service
It was very, very loud. The tables are too close together. Felt like we couldn't even have a conversation. It was pouring rain and they sat us right next to the door. People kept shaking their umbrellas on us. The waiter was overbearing. The food was lack luster. It was our 16th anniversary. They brought the table next to us prosecco and dessert for their anniversary. We did not receive that. It wasn't a good dinner. I wish we had chosen somewhere else.
The food and service was delicious. We can’t wait to go back.
We found the space to be extremely noisy with tables quite close to one another. Of the two entrees we ordered, neither was eaten. The swordfish was way too salty and after being offered a replacement it was discovered that all of the fish had been over seasoned. The pork chop was similar to a breaded pork tenderloin but with burnt cauliflower on it. Overall it was an expensive, bad cuisine experience. I will never go back nor recommend.
Gnocchi, spaghetti with arrabiatta sauce and pasta with veal and beef sauce were outstanding, authentic and presented well. Delicious recommended wine pairing. Reserved table was exactly as requested and ready upon arrival. Service was great. Noise level was comfortable. Love this place!!
My wife and I make it a point to eat out at least once every week and Forno has been on our list for some time. Last week we finally had the opportunity.
Unfortunately our experience was less than satisfactory. In short, good service but bad food.
The menu has a number of pasta and pizza options but not a particularly large choice of entrees.
I was however happy to see that one option was a Locally-Raised “Bone-In” Pork Chop Milanese.
My wife ordered the Veal Scalopine Limone with charred Italian broccolini.
I was looking forward to a nice, thick, juicy, tasty pork chop. What a disappointment! What arrived was a chop that had been butterflied and pounded to a thickness of less than a quarter of an inch. It was then breaded and over cooked so badly that I could hardly cut it, let alone chew it. Dry, tough and tasteless food is not enjoyable to eat.
My wife’s veal was ok but hardly worthwhile. The charred broccolini was actually well burnt and tough as rope, inedible. The sides again were merely average.
We had intended to have a nice relaxing dinner and a couple of glasses of wine. We realized that the night was not going to go as planned so we ended the evening as quickly as we could and asked for the check.
The server asked if we wanted our dinners boxed. I told her that the food really wasn’t that good and we didn’t need boxes. She offered to bring me a different entree, but by then I had no interest in staying.
She credited me 50% off the price of the pork chop.
Forno may do a good job with pasta and pizza, but I can’t recommend it for anything more substantial.
Given the difficult parking situation and above average prices for mediocre food, I won’t be going back.
Love this spot, go back again and again. Friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. Food is excellent, what I would call rustic Italian. Not too fancy or too overdone. Ultimate comfort food spot in the neighborhood.
The Server was excellent! She suggested a great wine! Food was good and at a reasonable price.
Would definitely go back!
We felt welcomed and well cared for from the moment we arrived. Server Jamie was friendly and knowledgeable, providing just the right amount of attention and help. It must have been clear that we were enjoying a wide variety of unique(vibrant, flavorful) offerings because the Maitre d'(who was closely watching everything, everywhere) came to our table and offered us an extra order of tender, lemony, succulent veal scaloppine. Again: Thank you! Favorites were: tripe, octopus, meatballs, cod, risotto, swordfish, and whole wheat pappardelle cinghiale. It was an adventure, it was a feast, it was a delight.
We're looking forward to our next visit.
Our server was amazing!
The food at Forno is really great! Everything we tried was delicious including the salads, the Salsiccia Pizza, the Bolognese Pasta and the truffles cream corn and mushroom risotto sides. The drinks took especially way too long to get initially but after that all was fine.
Wonderful food..... love the place 😉
Love the Tuesday night “Mama’s Special Bolognese”. Have to sit at bar to get it.
Everyone liked their food. Portions were generous. The restaurant offers a very good choice of Italian wine. Service attentive yet not a rush.
Each and every bite was delicious. Lemon cocktail was amazing.
Food was very good, service excellent. Desserts were outstanding. Still not liking be nickled and dimed for bread though.
My third visit, and I still haven't figured out why everyone likes it so well. I keep trying different menu options and always end up underwhelmed and feeling overcharged. Noisy and austere dining room. Nice, but clearly over-worked, server. This place just isn't for me.
The food is always great and the service is always exceptional. They will accommodate most any request or give it all they have trying
Our special occasion was my husbands birthday. It was a Tuesday evening evening and reservation was at 7:30. They were busy but we were seated right away. The first issue was our table for 2. It was literally a foot and a half away from the table next to us on one side and maybe 2 feet away from the table on our other side. We could easily hear each conversation with even trying to eavesdrop. The wait staff was buzzing around us constantly , having to turn sideways in the closed quarters. Some people may like this atmosphere, my husband and I did not.
When I went to wash my hands before the waiter took our order I had to wait 10 minutes or so because there’s only one bathroom.
Then, when the waiter finally remembered we were there, he brought us lukewarm water to drink while he went to go get us our wine.
The food was ok, nothing special and a bit overpriced. I was expecting more just based on the other ratings, and will not be back.
Just an excellent visit. Warmly greeted and promptly seated. Server was outstanding with wonderful explanations and recommendations for food and wine. Food and service was great!
Great dinner! Our table wasn't ready when we arrived, but we grabbed a drink at the bar. Small space, moderately noisy. The employees were very well informed and gave good advice on wine and dinner pairings. Portions are on the smaller side, but the bolognese was to die for.
