Forno Osteria & Bar Ratings and Reviews
We visited on a Wed night and made reservations in advance.....highly recommended. We found it odd that there were five small tables in the same row occupied and only one other table by the wall occupied. Tables are quite close so I got to listen to the entire conversation of our next door table...we were against the front wall therefore only had one table next to us.
The waiter was very good and came by several times to check on us after our pizza had been served.
The pizza was EXCELLENT and being a frequent Italy visitor would say that it was as close to an Italian pizza as I've had in the USA in a long time. The price was very reasonable.
Our reservation was for six PM.....and by 7 the place was packed, even at the bar.
Our main issue was the closeness of the tables and the overall noise level.
We would go again because the food was great.
High energy, (which means noisy) authentic Italian cuisine w healthier options available. Very accommodating, I didn’t want potatoes w my octopus, I had roasted cauliflower instead. I wanted light oil in my lentil dish, no problem. Server was knowledgeable about wine selections. The Bolognese was outstanding & so was the eggplant. We are looking forward to returning, I loved it!
We enjoyed our meal at Forno. The pasta was excellent and the wine list was extensive enough to offer a choice in prices. We were delighted to order the "roman artichokes" as we had just returned from a visit to Rome and that is an authentic entree there. Our waitress was delightful and brought us a complimentary dessert to go, basil blueberry panna cotta - excellent! I will definitely return to Forno.
As always, great food and attentive service. I had eggplant parmesan and an appetizer, tempura fried vegetables on greens--I could only get through half of each! My husband had pasta bolognese which was fabulous and he had the chocolate salame for dessert. We love the atmosphere and the obvious care and pride everyone has in the food and the restaurant.
New favorite brunch place!! Butternut squash quiche, French toast with blueberry compote, pappa al pomodoro (aka, shakshukah), pancakes, creamed corn... all rave worthy! And once again, Jamie proved to be the best server ever, surprising my table with end-of-day leftover doggie bags!
Ambiance, drinks, and pizza were fantastic (did you know you could order half and half pizzas, and sample two at a time??), but our server, Jamie, really made our night!! Attentive, knowledgeable, and super enthusiastic... we'll be requesting to be in her section when we return! (And thanks to Devyn, the manager, for coming to talk to us so that we could rave a bit in person, too!)
We came here to celebrate a birthday. Our server Jamie was amazing!!! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great information. The menu has a lot of choices and is quite good. However, the portion sizes for some of the pastas are rather small for the price. Overall, Jamie helped us pick out a great combo of things to try and I would definitely recommend giving Forno a try!
I had the Arrabiata sauce- delicious. My husband had the pasta with CInghiale which was very good as well. It was prepared with typical Sicilian spices. We shared some sides that were all outstanding - artichokes, braised lentils and broccolini/rapini stalks. We can't wait to go back and try some of the other things on the menu! Only 4 stars because we have not tasted enough of the menu, but we really appreciate the authentic dishes and preparation.
Overall a very nice evening with a friend. The Server was excellent. I believe her name was Maria. She gave us very good food and wine recommendations. My only complaint was that when I went to the Ladies Room, on both occasions stood waiting for a very long time, and each time it was an individual working in the kitchen. I have never had that experience before.
PASTA REVIEW: Ask your server about half-orders of pasta so that you can try the most of them! The gnocchi was delicious (but very rich! no need for more than a half order for 2 people) and the tagliatelle bolognese was very good (although not as good as Sotto's or Nichola's). Avoid the Spaghetti Arrabbiata, its quite bland. Eager to try other menu items another time!
Awesome food and service. However, this was our first time on a weekend night and it was jammed. The problem being that the tables are right on top of each other, they're wooden, wood floors, etc. - no acoustics. It was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. We asked to be moved to an outdoor table. Bottom line: we love this place but will only go back on weeknights, and probably earlier in the evening.
Met friends for dinner and had a fun evening. Excellent service and good food! Would definitely recommend it -- and we will go there again. Can't say enough positive comments about the service. Our waiter was superb. He had a great knowledge of the menu, was attentive, and accommodating. Excellent service!
