About Fork Restaurant - Philadelphia
Fork, acclaimed for its contemporary American cuisine for 20 years, features Chef John Patterson's locally sourced and seasonally inspired menu. Part of Fork's allure is its hip, stylish, sophisticated interior, where the dining experience is anything but stuffy and uncomfortable. Fork's hand-painted chandelier shades catch your eye as you look above the cast-concrete bar. Modern contemporary murals painted by Anthony DeMelas accentuate the height of the ceilings. Fork earned Four Bells from Philadelphia Inquirer Critic Craig LaBan.

Fork Restaurant - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
I have been to Fork semi-regularly over the past 5-10 years, usually for early Sunday dinner. This was my first experience of late Friday night (10PM) dinner, and the food and service were as exceptional as usual. My only problem was with the noise level, especially the "background" music, which seemed to have been cranked up to a level that made ordinary conversation difficult, if not impossible. Perhaps this was a conscious "weekend late-night" choice to attract a "younger" crowd (I am 75), but it did not really help the dining experience in what is a relatively small space to begin with. On the other hand, maybe I'm just getting old and cranky.
We went to Fork to celebrate Birthdays and they really made it special. Ask for a table by the open kitchen. It’s fascinating to watch a restaurant kitchen operate as a well oiled machine.
Service and food was outstanding!
They describe each course as it is served and we needed that. The unique pairing of flavors and ingredients make each course a surprise for the palate.
Fork is a must do for locals and visitors!
I brought my mother for her birthday dinner. The restaurant was beautiful, warm and inviting. The service was friendly but formal and professional. And the food was fantastic!
(The picture below is of the Dry Aged Steak for Two which we shared - so delicious)
The whole night was a wonderful experience.
Way beyond our expectations. Everyone was extremely attentive to our needs and were very knowledgeable about everything in the menu. The food was incredible to say the least. We shared several plates and were surprised by little "gifts" from the chef in between courses. A smidge pricey, but worth every penny!
We are long time customers of Fork and have enjoyed it as an above average restaurant. We had a 6 PM NYE reservation nd were seated timely and very nicely. For the first time ever the food was sub par except for the two pasta dishes which were excellent. The opening amuse bouche was bland and had no texture, the crab salad and dessert were average and the NY strip was not special either. Very surprised at the food preparation quality and so early in the evening.
while the staff is quite friendly and accommodating, the cuisine leaves much to be desired. At a resteraunts such as this the expectations of a small portion size is one thing but the food itself must be a rewarding experience. The main dishes left alot to be desired however the appetizers, desert, and pasta (especially the fettuccini) were delightful. For the money spent there are much better options.
So we had eaten at the sister restaurant and knew Fork would be delicious. It was better then expected. We had the 4 course tasting menu and shared bites with each course. Every dish had an unexpected ingredient that added a next level. Raw oysters with sea grapes. Sweet breads with grapefruit. And those were just appetizers. On top of the fresh ingredients and wonderful flavors, my daughter was celebrating her birthday. The entire staff made the night wonderfully special with little treats and amazing attention. She was over the moon with the food and then all the special treatment just made for a memorable birthday. We come back to Philly every year and are already looking forward to another meal at Fork
We were in the city for an after Christmas family get away and Fork came highly recommended.
We were not disappointed! Atmosphere was delightful, service was attentive, food was amazing and the wine and cocktail selection were impressive. My only complaint would be that our first wine selection ( a sparkling) was opened and poured while we were finishing our cocktails, and they were too yummy to rush!
Christmas Eve seven fishes was a great experience. The grilled whole pompano was the highlight of the meal. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the wine selection. The cocktail we ordered at the start of the meal was a work of art. Overall a great experience and enjoyable evening.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. The parsnip soup was a terrific surprise. The soup paired perfectly but differently with the brussel sprouts and apples. The potato gnocchi with lamb ragu was absolutely amazing. The gnocchi were pillowy and the ragu was savory and salty but not overwhelming. The chestnut Fettuccini was more subtle but definitely worth remembering. The duck and pork entrees were both delicious. I could go into greater detail but it’s 11:03 PM and I’m also not a food writer. In summation, my wife and I loved it. It didn’t disappoint. In fact, it exceeded our expectations.
Ellen Yin deserves a special mention as an restaurant owner that truly cares about her customers and their experience at Fork. I was at Fork for a business dinner in May 2017 and had some issues with the service and wine. Rather than write a poor review, I emailed the restaurant and got a personal response from Ellen. For my birthday dinner, with both of my kids in from out-of-town, we decided to go back to Fork because my other meals there have been great. I contacted Ellen again to let her know we were going to be at the restaurant. What an amazing experience! We all did the House Menu, which was nice given my wife and daughter have some dietary restrictions. The chef was very accommodating and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Four of us had a wine flight, with each selection nicely paired with our food. The service was exceptional as well. The gnocchi, bucatini, sweetbreads (special) and steak (worth the $24 up charge) were the highlights of the meal. At $78pp, the House Menu has to be one of the best fine dining values in the city and Ellen has to be one of the best owners.
May have been the best meal of my life. Front of house service was exceptional and everything that came from the kitchen was phenominal. Our server and support staff were knowledgeable and had the utmost attention to detail while remaining friendly and approachable. Would be hard pressed to find a better dining experience in Philadelphia..
My favorite restaurant for any occasion. Over the years the menu has changed and been updated as the tastes and clientele have become more sophisticated in their palates. This last dinner was the most sophisticated of meals there to rival any at the former Le Bec Fin. I started with the black walnut garden salad and then the tilefish in a shellfish butter sauce with bok choy and celery root. It was light and so very tasty. My colleague and I finished off the night by sharing a lemon sesame dessert. Service was its usual perfection. The long term owner Ellen Yin wouldn't have it any other way.
What a wonderful experience at Fork in Philly! The service was friendly and impeccable, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and the food unique and delicious. All the dishes are very flavorful and and perfectly balanced, especially the pastas and my unexpected favorite dish, lamb crudo.
A great value for savory, unique tastes. The tasting menu allows people to experiment with flavors that they would typically not pair. The experience was wonderful, intimate and allowed old colleagues to enjoy an evening at our pace. Recommend as a top pick in Philly.
Both dishes were very salty. In addition, we were asked to take a seat at the bar because the hostess told us our table was not ready, however, restaurant was not full (plenty of tables) and we were on time for our reservation. When they finally seated us, the same tables were set and available as when we arrived at the restaurant. Fork is now off the list!
From the minute we walked in the door, we were treated as if everyone already knew us. The genuine friendliness and attention was striking. Each person who came to our table could not have been more professional while at the same at ease, helpful and pleasant. They made you feel that they were really happy you were there. We would definitely return to this casually elegant restaurant!
