About Fork Restaurant

Fork, acclaimed for its contemporary American cuisine for 20 years, features Chef John Patterson's locally sourced and seasonally inspired menu. Part of Fork's allure is its hip, stylish, sophisticated interior, where the dining experience is anything but stuffy and uncomfortable. Fork's hand-painted chandelier shades catch your eye as you look above the cast-concrete bar. Modern contemporary murals painted by Anthony DeMelas accentuate the height of the ceilings. Fork earned Four Bells from Philadelphia Inquirer Critic Craig LaBan.

I went for 20 tastes of Fork anniversary special. I felt like it was pretty misleading considering our "tastes" were often just a bite, a slice of cheese, a cup of tea, a piece of bread. They could have just advertised this as a 10 course tasting menu. But for the $100 price tag, I expected more protein than a piece of duck breast. Also a bit strange to be served a champagne cocktail in a wine glass.

Wonderful food, attentive waitstaff, Fork is a real Philadelphia gem. Noise level is a bit high, makes quiet conversation difficult. But well worth that slight inconvenience!

4 of us went for a girlfriend's birthday. Menu was confusing and didn't match online offerings. VERY NOISY!! Service was spotty... waiter forgot my drink and asked why I didn't order one, which I clearly had. Dropped a coaster from the bottom of a glass on my friend's dinner. Yuck!! Did not acknowledge. Service was slow, it took more than 2 hours and our bill was over $400. Disappointing considering the quality of the food and the service provided. Our expectations were higher. Would NOT return.

Parsnip soup was delicious. Duroc pork not so much....pork belly, while trendy, is nothing but FAT..ugh! Accompanying veggies were great. Friend had problem with desert...burnt granola. Overall, Fork isn’t as wonderful as it used to be, and is quite pricey for what one gets. Service was impeccable.

Waiter was great - extremely knowledgeable on menu, ingredients and preparation. The food was great - particularly the gnocchi. Waiter’s assistant was EXCELLENT - very attentive and awesome sense of humor. Dessert was just okay.

First time in Philly and Fork did not disappoint. Both my girlfriend and I chose pastas for our entree. Highly recommend the gnocchi with lamb. Also had a nice wine/cocktail list.

Perennial favorite Fork did not disappoint on this visit. I was there on a Sunday evening in October, with an elderly parent who is not accustomed to fine dining, and we had a great time. Food is always good as well as creative, and the variety of offerings ensures that there is something for everyone. Ed, our server, was helpful and attentive. Definitely worth the trip.

I would no longer recommend Fork. We've been coming here for much of the time the restaurant has been open, but last Friday's dinner, and two other dinners over the past couple of months, have led us to realize that this is no longer a restaurant that welcomes people who want to have a conversation. While the food is still very good, and the service professional and pleasant--and the house made cocktails quite good, if now becoming a bit overpriced---the so-called curated music is no longer in the background. It is insistant and unpleasant. We like going to clubs and dancing, etc, but this is not why we went to--or want to go to--a supposedly adult restaurant for dinner and conversation. Other folks around us were also clearly unhappy with the music--both the music choices and volume levels, and when speaking with the serving and bar staff, it appeared that they shared our distaste for the music and sound levels. If Fork is now trying to become the second-coming of Buddakhan, they have arrived.

Fork is no longer a restaurant that we will go to, and we will let our friends who dine in Philadelphia know our assessment of this restaurant.

Really nice meal, but I choose a little poorly. Had a great meal with a friend from out of town. The service was excellent and the drink delicious. The portions are not small so an appetizer and entree is plenty food for most folks. The pork three ways was a little salty and heavy - but I guess that's my fault for choosing it as it is pork right? I'll be back but will choose differently. The oysters were well prepared and the scallops superb.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Birthday Tasting Menu. the tilefish was excellent, as was the pork.
House manager coming out to wish us a Happy Birthday and ask us about our meal was a nice touch. Only complaint was the long wait for the handcrafted cocktail. Wonderful experience overall.

The staff really helped us celebrate our anniversary with a complementary glass of sparkling rose and gracious welcome. Food was delicious. My husband hit the jackpot with the chicken and deconstructed baba ghanoosh. My Atlantic Wahoo with a lovely curry sauce was not as terrific. The fish is just not particularly tasty. We shared lovely oysters and a delicious pear tart for dessert. A perfect place for celebrations.

The food me and my friend got was very good. Flavors were perfectly matched and the beverages were good too. However, the food is definitely not cheap. Waiter was great and knowledgeable. The only negative I can mention is the host at the front of the restaurant. When we first went in without a reservation she turned us away even though there were open tables. I had to make a reservation on OpenTable to go around her. She should be fired for turning away money this restaurant could be receiving as I'm sure not everyone would think to look up the restaurant on OpenTable after being treated poorly by her.

With all the stellar reviews I had high expectations, unfortunately the squid ink pasta we ordered was extremely bland, while the condiments to the pork we ordered was so salty that we had to send it back. We got a fish instead where the flavors didn't mesh together well. Sorely disappointing.

Went to check out the 20th anniversary menu on my birthday. Absolutely fantastic. Just enough food to not be too stuffed. Loved all of the flavors throughout the courses. My favorites were the venison tartare and the duck. Service was gracious and efficient. Thank you to Ed for the stories and the wine tasting and John (the bartender) who created a perfect negroni to start and a delicious digestivo to end the night. Bravo to the chef. A truly perfect celebratory meal.

Chef John Patterson has exceeded my expectations of Fork. I was fortunate enough to have the new tasting menu which was an extremely choreographed meal which had me wanting more. From raw to umami, beautifully cooked pasta/gnhocci..the array of flavors was a symphony of the palate. From the execution of plates to the overall service, this was a phenomenal approach from a business that understnsds a great guest experience is a team effort.

The service is incredibly good. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food, on the other hand, is an entirely different matter. They try far too hard to be avant garde. They combine flavors that were never meant to be shared or combined for a reason. The title of the items seem enticing, but the ingredient list below undermines the positive. I hate being critical, but other than 1 dessert we had, every single other item was barely edible. We shuttered each time a new course arrived at the table. The best example I can provide is the bread. The served us burnt bread. Not only was the crust burnt, but the burnt flavor reached deep into the soft part of the bread. When we complained, we were informed it was intended to be burned. Well maybe I'm not on the cutting edge of current gastronomy, but there are fewer tastes I can remove from my taste buds other than burnt food. Even one of the desserts was ruined by burning the tort and serving it with chocolate mousse that was destroyed by a lemon curd. We shall never return. It was the second worst meal I have ever had in my life. Sorry Fork, try harder less.

Consistently exceptional farm-to-table dishes that are unique and evolve with the seasons. I try to come here whenever in Philadelphia as he menu changes, they the service doesn't (delightful and professional). The wine selection is adequate and is the one opportunity for improvement.

Absolutely phenomenal. The "House Menu" was perfectly portioned and the presentation throughout was exceptional. Atmosphere was quiet enough to talk easily yet loud enough to drown out other conversations. Same logic for the lighting. Dark enough to feel intimate yet bright enough to see the energy all around the restaurant. Cocktails were creative as was the food. Can not WAIT to go back.
