About Fork & Wrench
The Fork & Wrench bar and dining room in Fell’s Prospect, Baltimore offers glocaly sourced, craft made fare and libations. The owners worked for two years to design and hand build the interior space themselves with the goal of evoking the 20’s, 30,s and 40’s working class. There are hints of a workshop, a linen factory line, a pharmacy, a college science lab, and a savings and loan office scattered thru out the rooms, balconies and courtyards of the space. It is their intent to combine the dive bar and 4-star attitudes into one space for the benefit of the “modern day” working class. The kitchen offers craft made fare using all local produce and meats when available. They use old recipes and new techniques (and vice-versa) with global influences to arm their ever-changing menu. We really like this place. Dine there quite often and every time we find their menu changed. We think it's a plus because it makes every dining experience more interesting and enjoyable. The food is always yummy, creative well presented and portioned. The service is very professional and friendly, the ambiance is quite unique and have kind of antique storage appearance, and the value is adequate to the experience.

We made a last minute reservation. It was slow, but we really REALLY enjoyed ourselves. We took our time and had a great experience. This is a very casual restaurant with the kind of service you would expect at a high-end restaurant. Jay was the bartender and mikey? Was our main waiter. The food was excellent but the service was special. This neighborhood "dive bar" is a casual neighborhood gem.
Our server, Miguel, was very knowledgeable and attentive and made sure to accommodate allergies. The cheese plate was average but the homemade jam was tasty. The pork belly appetizer was delicious and the short ribs very tender and flavorful. Loved the ambience.
Our 1st time at the restaurant. What a terrific experience. Our waiter could not have been friendlier or more willing to explain menu choices and was willing to make recommendations. His advice was spot on. Several in our party had shrimp & grits. Delicious. I had braised short ribs that absolutely melted in my mouth. We were not rushed and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We will be back. One slight criticism. The sign for the restaurant says "F&W." We drove past it before turning around and finding it. Valet parking was a bonus. Definitely should be on your "We've got to go there" list.
The short ribs were super tender and could have been the best meal I have ever had at this restaurant. (Ive already been here several times) My co-worker had the burger and loved it. The service was especially good this time around. Two guys that really seemed to be in synch with each other. I'll be back soon to try that burger.
Good food, and service. The shrimp and grits were good, as was the pork belly. The duck was excellent and the risotto was crunchy beyond al dente. Our server apologized and suggested the kitchen intended it to be that way due to a blend of arborio and Carolina Gold rice. While the flavor of the dish was great, the different cooking times required for the grains didn't translate to a good risotto. Nice wine and beer selection, and the cocktails were great.
The food was outstanding. The flavorings were inventive and perfect compliment to the main item. Our waiter was terrific and carefully explained how each plate was prepared and constructed. He allowed us to go at our own pace without feeling rushed. We have zero complaints. This is the second time we have been to Fork and Wrench and have had a great experience each time. We would recommend the restaurant and we can't wait till we are able to go for our third visit.
Not an especially good experience and certainly not what I expected. The food was okay, but nothing special. Service was noticeably bad. They could have sold more drinks, but the server very infrequently attended the table. Two of our part of five tried the hamburger. Both were disappointed. No ketchup or any other relishes were offered. The size was quite small, particularly for a $20 hamburger. Fish dishes were just okay -- undercooked and overly salty.
My impression is that they try to do too much with their food, but fail in the attempt. Together with the poor service and high prices, it makes is quite certain that I will not return.
My wife and I came to Fork and Wrench for our anniversary and we had another great meal. My wife got the seared scallops and they were excellent. They were perfectly cooked and the dish was very flavorful. I got the short ribs, and they were amazing. I'm usually wary of short ribs becuase they can sometimes be very fatty, however that was not the case with this dish. We were very pleased with the meal and look forward to coming back.
This is totally our favourite restaurant in Baltimore. Wonderful service, fantastic creative menus and fun urban creative environment. We are from Europe but living here in the city and this place is our refuge for special occasions when we want delicious food served beautifully in manageable European-style portion sizes but with locally sourced ingredients. Yum!
love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The scallops were amazing and the hummus was outstanding . Everyone loved the desserts (bundino and the cake. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were tasty and I adored the Balvenie in my snifter.
The seafood was extraordinary and fried pork belly cubes were a big hit at the table. This was our second visit this month. The food and atmosphere are great, but the service from Mike makes the experience so much better than other neighborhood places. Fork and Wrench deserves to be mentioned among the better restaurants in the city.
This was the perfect restaurant to host my colleagues from out of town! It was important to me that we all had at least one "Baltimore" experience while we were all in the inner harbor for a rather large convention. The space was unique, cozy, and eclectic. The service was professional and as friendly as I have ever experienced. Brad was our point of contact for the booking and accommodated our party with ease, and Mike was our server extraordinaire. While the weekend was very productive, having diner here will probably be our lasting memory. Great times!
The food especially the shrimp and grits appetizer was good. The servers were very friendly. But were very busy. Several times we had to get up to get ware, order drinks etc.. they all seemed to cover for each other. Our server was also acting as the bar tender when he wasn't waiting on tables. In general the place has a nice atmosphere. the food was good and a very nice presentation. The portions were fairly small.
Fork and Wrench was warm, cozy and the food was excellent. It is a unique restaurant - I'd recommend walking around and taking a bit of a tour. Colleagues I was with claimed it might have been one of the best meals they've had. Service was excellent. I can't say enough good things! Just try it.
The food and ambiance at F&W is outstanding. We went to celebrate a special occasion with six people and sampled some appetizers and had wonderful entrees. The cocktail list is very comprehensive with both classics and unique creations. Definitely plan to go all out when you go to fork and wrench, everything is delicious and the menu changes frequently.
The place is cool. The guy who took care of us was friendly and knew the food very well. Great vibe and ambiance.
Conceptually we loved the menu but the execution fell short. Gazpacho was excessively sweet. Salad was way overdressed. Hangar steak was over cooked. Ordered medium, served well done. Flavor was great and still enjoyed it but would've been awesome had it been properly prepared, which was the case for the other items I mentioned too. So maybe an off night in the kitchen? We'd go back and try again with fingers crossed.
Jay and Mikey are the greatest! It is obvious the staff takes great pride in the menu offerings. We had several food and drink questions and they were all explained with great detail based upon what we liked/disliked. The appetizers of gnocchi and shrimp and grits were impressive. Our main courses were good, but not as good as the appetizers. The main plates were small and portion size of steak was questionable. The rockfish was yummy, but served with a sauté of kake and coliflower on the side; kind of a wimpy follow up to our amazing appetizers. Still tho, the food was delicious, but J&M made the overall experience of being at fork and wrench feel like having dinner with friends. We would love to invite these guys over to dinner at our house.
We enjoyed the starters so much we never got to the seconds or entrees! We will definitely go back again. The butter cake was an amazing finisher and the cocktails are a real treat. Also, great informative server as was all the staff. Fun, funky atmosphere too
Holy Moly! We may have just had the best dining experience in Baltimore. Miguel... this guy gets it! From the start of our meal he was very helpful in describing the cocktail and food offerings without any pressure. We took his suggestion of gnocchi and shrimp appetizers and then decided on main courses. He suggested both the burger and the risotto. We opted for the burger and rockfish. Both were great, but the rockfish portion was TINY! About the size of a sugar packet. To be fair, Miguel told us to expect a small portion. Always trust this guy. In closing, the service here feels like you are having dinner with people who really care about the overall experience and will do their best to make sure you have a nice meal.
This restaurant is really good and glad we tried it. Miguel, our waiter and his coworker were enthusiastic about their menu choices which were definitely unique. I thoroughly enjoyed the cucumber tequila gazpacho and. My husband has shrimp and grits for starters. His was amazing as well. For entries we both split a burger and the scallops. Both were tasty. I forgot the name of our dessert but it was a type of mousse and was amazing. Their menu changes portions every 2 weeks or so which is nice. It was our anniversary and they treated us to after dinner drinks.
