This is one of Louisville 's best restaurants! We celebrated St. Patrick's Day here for brunch. Our table had corned beef hash (made with tender corned beef and sweet potatoes), veggie scramble (with goat cheese, mushrooms, and crispy kale) with hash browns, and green velvet cornmeal pancakes. Fresh orange and French-pressed coffee were the perfect complement to these delicious entrees. We are never disappointed here!

Warm, vibrant atmosphere. Friendly, attentive service. Delicious, creative food. It all adds up to a great dining experience in a place that is quickly becoming one of our “go-to” restaurants in the Louisville area.

The food was great - a variety of options on the menu for appetizers, salads, mains, and desserts. Nice spacing inside the restaurant with a lively but intimate atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

We frequent local dining spots and are usually quite easy to please. Unfortunately, we most likely will not return to Fork and Barrel. First impression was quaint and comforting atmosphere but really empty for 7:30 on a Friday night. Our first round of drinks took a very long time to arrive. For appetizers we had the ahi tuna and mussels, both were satisfactory. The disappointment came with dinner. My husband had the surf and turf special and was happy with his. My friends husband had the stroganoff and he was also pleased. Unfortunately, my friend and I don’t eat pork or beef so went with the veggie plate. It was advertised as a mixture or roasted veggies and mashed potatoes. When it arrived, it was a plate with three carrots, some Brussels sprouts, squash, and asparagus. I get it, that it was a veggie plate and nothing overwhelming special to begin with. But this seemed like a complete afterthought of whatever vegetables they had within reach plopped on a plate. Also, it did not have mashed potatoes which would have provided a different texture and pulled it all together. We were halfway through the meal, when the server stopped by to check on the food. We asked if it was supposed to include mashed potatoes and the response was yes, but they were out of potatoes. This would have been helpful to know when ordering. We finished our meals and plates are cleared. Then, the server brings a bowl of mashed potatoes to the table. At this point dinner was over. We had no interest in mashed potatoes as dessert. I know it seems petty but my friend and I paid top dollar for some carrots and brussel sprouts. Overall, the guys were pleased but my friend and I were extremely disappointed to pay over $200 per couple and leave still hungry. Overall service was slow as well, yet the restaurant never got busy.

Fork and Barrel is a nice place to go for dinner. Unfortunately my last time for dinner I ordered the pork shank and it was cold. It had great flavor and would have been really good if it had been hot. Really disappointed.

One of the worst service experiences. Our server, Pamela, did not acknowledge us the entire meal other than to take out order. Another server topped our water off and we had to have a busboy get our check. Food was fine, not memorable.

Repeat visit, really like the food - service is also good. My only complaint/constructive comment is related to the lack of "privacy". The tables are so close together that it's hard for people to converse, even quietly, or avoid bumping into others if you have to get up. They should take a few tables out...

We’d never been to F & B before, but our friends had and they commented on the limited menu. We didn’t realize that Friday, February 15th, would be a continuation of a special “Valentines” menu and were a little disappointed when we first arrived.

But......the options were plentiful enough and each of us had a delicious meal. My husband ordered the wedge salad and I ordered the French onion soup - it was a perfect start.

For entrees, my husband ordered the short ribs and I had the salmon. Both were nicely prepared and full of flavor, but the real winner for the night was our dinner companion who ordered the pork shank. Oh goodness - it just melted in your mouth. And the sides were a perfect accomplishment. His date ordered he stroganoff, which was perfectly savory, but a little skimpy - more like an appetizer portion. When we go back (not if), we will both order that shank so we don’t have to share. 😀

The wine list was reasonably priced, although dates weren’t included, so we were a little disappointed with a 2018 Pinot Noir that could have benefited from a couple years on the shelf.

We saw lots of tempting desserts being served all around us, but we decided on the chocolate meringue. I don’t have enough adjectives to do it justice, so will just say.....it was SO DARN GOOD!!!

The owner/chef stopped to talk with us at the end of our meal and was very engaging.

We will definitely return.

I ordered a burger medium well and when I received it, the meat was well over cooked to the point of being burnt. I would have simply asked for another burger if my waiter would have bothered to check on my table, but they were too occupied with the table right.next.to.us because they seemed to be ordering more expensive food and were older than my partner and myself. This was very shocking because I have never been treated poorly at a nice place because of my age. I was very excited to come hear because I read nice reviews, but my over all take away was, the waiters only care if they seem to profit a decent tip off of your order, the kitchen does not cook their burgers to order, and the manager does not check up on his tables either.

Most of the food was good but my English peas were hard little rocks. Another person at our table had the potato casserole ( I forget what it was called) and it was so tasteless he couldnt eat it. He ordered scallops and got three. He was still hungry when we left.
We were disappointed there was no bread or rolls at all. I had to ask for salt and pepper and eventually was brought a little dish with about one half to one teaspoon of each and a little spoon. I requested no gravy on my potatoes but got it anyway.
Our table was up against the window and we were cold. The noise level wouldn't have been bad except the tables were so close together a woman at the table next to ours was getting drunk and was laughing very, very loudly. When she wasn't laughing we were so close we could hear all of their conversation.
